There's No Such Thing As Moderate Islam?

NEW YORK -- As first reported by NewsChannel4's Jonathan Dienst, three
people were arrested and one other was being sought Saturday in connection to a
plot to blow up jet-fuel lines at John F. Kennedy International Airport,
officials said.
Four people have been charged. Three suspects are in custody:
Russell Defreitas, Kareem Ibrihim and Abdul Kadir. Another suspect, Abdul Nur is
still at large.
Defreitas is to be arrainged Saturday in Brooklyn on terror
conspiracy charges.
Sources said Defreitas, a former cargo worker at JFK allegedly
began to plot attacking the US last July or August. Defeitas sought help in
carrying out a plan and went to an FBI informant, who gathered information about
the plot.
U.S. Attorney Roslynn R. Mauskopf called it "one of the most
chilling plots imaginable."
"The devastation that would be caused had this plot succeeded is
just unthinkable," she said at a news conference.
Defreitas is a U.S. citizen with roots in Guyana.
Kadir, a former member of Parliament in Guyana, was arrested in
Trinidad for attempting to secure money for "terrorist operations," according to
a Guyanese police commander who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Kadir, a Muslim, left his position in Parliament last year. Muslims
make up about 9 percent of the former Dutch and British colony's 770,000
population, mostly from the Sunni sect.
Sources said counter-terrorism officials have been following the
plot for a little less than one year.
Sources said the plot involved a plan to blow up a BuckEye jet-fuel
pipeline at JFK setting off a potential massive explosion. BuckEye provides fuel
to all three NYC-area airports.
Sources said the plot involved putting explosives inside the fuel
pipeline but realized that "it was not technically feasible."
Officials said the plot may also have included plans to hit the JFK
terminal buildings and aircraft, in addition to the fuel lines.
"The devastation that this would have caused is just
unthinkable."
"Huge concern about the fuel line. The feeding tube that feeds
international commerce, airport, residences." "The Buckeye Pipeline (orginates
from Allentown Pa.), a 40 million fuel line, runs from New Jersey to Nassau
(JFK) ......" It is the central fuel line.
"New York has become complacent.""We urge NY , if you see
something, say something!"[what would CAIR say about that? LAWSUIT! -
Atlas]
Look at the world through the eyes, through the prism of September
11th.
One of the suspects (Defreitas - sp?) was quoted as saying: "the attacks would result in the destruction of the whole of JFK and
destroy whole parts of Queens. Few people would survive."
"Even the twin towers can't touch it. This would destroy the
whole US economy"
Iran's Islamic dictatorship is facing rapidly mounting problems that threaten its existence. The Iranian clerics have much to fear, and not just from foreign threats. Their incompetence and corruption has ruined the economy. Unemployment among young Iranians is about 50 percent. Some 40 percent of the population is on the government payroll, and there is not enough oil money to pay off all the people who do support the government (about a third of the population). Thus the government keeps printing more money, and the result in an inflation rate of over 20 percent. The Iranian people are getting increasingly restless, and, more ominously, surly. The government has relied on street level gangs of young Islamic conservatives to discourage such behavior. But it isn't working, and there have been more and more street battles. The government can more readily call in reinforcements, and has won all these brawls so far. But if the government starts losing them, it's the beginning of the end. Some of the kids have cell phones, a technology the government tried to keep out.Source
...The clerics fear an event similar to the one that suddenly destroyed communist rule in Russia and Eastern Europe 18 years ago. For that reason, much attention and cash is spent on the street level muscle (the Basij militia), and a constant willingness to use physical violence against any protests or "un-Islamic" behavior. The universities are being purged of any staff suspected of being disloyal to the clergy. Any contacts with foreigners are being discouraged, as the Iranians fear U.S. groups that go around giving workshops on how to overthrow a dictatorship using non-violent means. Such workshops are held for Iranians across the Gulf, and many Iranians sneak over to participate.

GERTZ:WASHINGTON — Iran is threatening to use its huge missile arsenal in any attack on American allies in the Gulf, the U.S. intelligence community has determined. Officials said the mullah regime seeks to intimidate Gulf Cooperation Council states with Teheran's ballistic missile arsenal.
They said Iran views its missiles as the primary element in power projection. "Iran is enhancing its ability to project its military power — primarily with ballistic missiles and naval power — with the goal of dominating the Gulf region and deterring potential adversaries," National Intelligence Director John McConnell told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Feb. 27.
The intelligence community said Iran has the largest missile inventory in the Middle East. Iran's Shihab-2 medium-range and Shihab-3 intermediate-range missiles could strike virtually any strategic site in the Gulf. "Teheran views its growing inventory of ballistic missiles as an integral part of its strategy to deter — and if necessary retaliate against-forces in the region, including U.S. forces," McConnell said.
Since we are leaving the region by 2009, why on earth would anyone aid our cause at their own peril from the obvious winners?
They are embarked on a generational national project to acquire nukes. They have proven to the region they will be AMORAL and untrammeled by the slightest 'human' consideration in application of of force, and terror is considered by them to be a legitimate means of application. They have spoken with great consonance over that time about their intentions. Their weapons are mostly modern. They can freeze europe's aid to america with their real threats. They have the cooperation of the Russians and the Chinese. They have PROVEN the UN is a chimera, a charade, a kabuki dance. Their co-religionists form a (religiously repressed) MAJORITY in the Eastern Province of KSA (where the oil is).
They have NEVER lost against the americans.
Any questions?
ABU DHABI — The Bush administration has hinted through diplomatic channels that the United States will leave Iraq and most of the Gulf region by 2009. Middle East diplomatic sources said U.S. envoys have repeatedly signaled that Washington plans to withdraw from Iraq and most of the Gulf region.
Several U.S. envoys advised Gulf Cooperation Council and other states to prepare for this eventuality, they said. "No such words were spoken, but Arab and Israeli leaders have understood that within two years, the United States will no longer be in Iraq or in the Middle East," one diplomatic source said.
The administration's strongest message of a U.S. military withdrawal took place during the Middle East tour by Defense Secretary Robert Gates in April. Gates visited Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia and discussed arms sales with all three countries.

maybe someone can explain how this helps our negotiating positionRice: No War Plans | |
MADRID, Spain (AP) - The U.S. is not preparing for war against Iran and Vice President Dick Cheney supports that policy, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says, taking a swipe at a U.N. official who says he's worried about "crazies" who want to start bombing.
"The president of the United States has made very clear what our policy is. That policy is supported by all the members of his Cabinet and by the vice president of the United States," Rice said Friday.
Now that means either the whole government is a bunch of liars or a bunch of fools. Neither of which I care for in this instance.
I have already voted in one fool (Jimmah), and worked against a considerable liar (Nixon)
Who are these people and what have they done with the guys who said 'pretty soon the whole world will hear you'?
The Bush Admin has lost me on the border
The Bush Admin has lost me on the immigration reform as they want it
The Bush Admin has lost me on backing off on supporting democracies
The Bush Admin has lost me on the Iraq as they have done it
The Bush Admin is now losing me on Iran.
If they have lost me (and folsk like me) on these foreign and security issues, who will they have left?
Fools and liars?
Iran can be handled with forthright honest statements of intention which are BACKED UP. What's going on now is ....

This is an alert. Please, if you value freedom, repost this alert: Venezuelan Government has kidnapped the students inside the University. No one can enter or exit -from the above link-:
A police barrier of the Military Police is forbidding the students of Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) as they wanted to demosntrate in front of the National Parliament. The Military Police has said that the students should wait till a MPs Commission who will receive a document. In this moments there are more gruops of students who are getting to the area in support of the rest.
The students have announced they will demostrate today at 11 in the La India Sq. to march till the Parliament. Major Bernal has announed them they do not have any permission to do that, but they have answered they will concentrate themselves just the same in the pavements without having the traffic interrupted. Globovisión has informed jsut now that Chávez's supporters have just now began to get to the place and they have even set up some tents, from where they want to call on others to defend the revolution. But the students have begun to march whatever the menaces and protests and the advices from the Major about being forbidden.

‘Open tent’ at Amherst Middle School
AMHERST— For one night, on May 9, the quaint colonial town of Amherst, New Hampshire, was transformed into a Saudi Arabian Bedouin tent community, with the help of 80 seventh-graders at the Amherst Middle School. The weather cooperated, providing 85 degree temperatures to give an authentic Saudi feel to the evening.
More than 250 guests arrived at the open tent and were welcomed with an Arabic greeting of “Marhaba” by students at a Saudi customs desk.
During the check-in, guests selected a traditional Arabic name for their name badge and completed an actual Saudi customs form, which warned in bold letters “Death for Drug Trafficking ” at the top.
Once inside, guests were encouraged to circulate among 14 different stations created by the students.
The Arabic food-tasting station offered four entrées, curried chicken, lamb, tomato chicken with cardomom, and Moroccan chicken, served with pita breads, hummus, and couscous. Fresh fruits, cardomom coffees, and spice teas were also served.
Flowing fabrics hung from the ceiling separated the family and men-only dining sections. The tables were set on large rugs and lowered so that the diners sat on the floor.
Only the seventh-grade boys were allowed to host the food stations and the Arabic dancing, as the traditions of Saudi Arabia at this time prevent women from participating in these public roles.
Dressed in traditional Arabic wear—long plaid kilts, white shirts and turbans—the boys offered food and entertained guests. The Arabic dancers enthusiastically performed to music and encouraged male visitors to join their dance.
Seventh-grade girls hosted the hijab and veil stations, where other female guests learned how to wear the required head covering and veils. An antique trunk full of black abayas worn by women, and white thobes worn by the men, were available for guests to try on.
Cultural items displayed throughout the room included Arabic books, games, food, and newspapers and magazines.
An Islamic religion station included a Muslim prayer rug with a compass imbedded in it to locate Mecca, readings on the Islamic faith, call to prayer items and prayer beads.
Younger visitors gravitated to the Arabic listening station, the Arabic coloring book stations and the mural, while visitors of all ages found the slide shows of Saudi Arabia to be captivating.
The “open tent” was created to encourage participants to reach out and learn from people around the world, and to promote curiosity and cultural understanding.

On Sept 17th 1862, after repeated numerous significant lost battles, destroyed campaigns, and inept planning, execution, and abysmal failure, George McClellan, having been gifted with Robt E Lee's exact plans wrapped around some lost cigars, went out and actually attacked him on Northern soil, near Antietam Creek at Sharpsburg, MD.
By day's end, there were 3650 dead, and 22,750 casualties. That represent 25% of all men engaged that day.
Since we conquered Iraq we have, according to CNN, 3,749 american dead, and 25,549 wounded. In 1500 more days, we have sustained as many casualties, yet a large majority of americans wants out of Iraq.
By the time Abe Lincoln wrote himself a letter (August 1864) predicting his own defeat in November because americans, he believed would not support a war to free slaves, there were ~850,000 casualties. HE thought that since the war had morphed from a war to preserve the Union to one of freeing the slaves (at his urging) he would lose
But it's not the Civil War, you say.
Well, THAT wasn't viewed in the way it is now, then either. No less than Horace Greeley said, let the "wayward sisters depart in peace". We see how consequential it all was today. Well many today, who view Iraq as part of the World War feel that way now. Most however do not.
But as (arch Reaganite) Peggy Noonan expressed today her separation from the admin:
The beginning of my own sense of separation from the Bush administration came in January 2005, when the president declared that it is now the policy of the United States to eradicate tyranny in the world, and that the survival of American liberty is dependent on the liberty of every other nation. This was at once so utopian and so aggressive that it shocked me.
That mission's theory in which our security is guaranteed by democracy's spread is exactly the issue of what others see as the neoconservative ideal, as Ms. Noonan does.

American traitor and al Qaeda mouthpiece Adam Gadahn melts down on camera while shooting his latest vlog. Hot Air obtained the exclusive video.
MOSCOW (AFP) - President Putin issued an acerbic warning Thursday to the United States, saying the recent test of a new Russian missile was a direct response to US actions and condemning "imperialism" in world affairs.
"Our American partners have quit the ABM Treaty," Putin told reporters after meeting his Greek counterpart, referring to the landmark 1972 US-Soviet treaty limiting the missile defenses of the Cold War superpower foes.
"We warned them then that we would come out with a response to maintain the strategic balance in the world. Yesterday we conducted a test of a new strategic ballistic missile with multiple warheads, and of a new cruise missile, and will continue to improve our resources."
The United States informed Russia in 2001 that it was exercising its option to withdraw unilaterally from the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) pact. It has since stepped up controversial plans, fiercely opposed by Russia, to deploy a missile defence shield in eastern Europe.
Translation - If you prevent us, via defensive weapons, from the ability to threaten weaker non nuclear states with annihilation, then you imperil our world position enough to cause us to threaten to restart the enter cold war.

opportunity and make solid contributions to our society.”
He said Americans had nothing to fear from large-scale immigration
from Latin America.
“There is an element of our society that is worried about
two Americas,” he said. “Our ability to welcome newcomers and the
system’s capacity to assimilate them has been one of the great powerful
traditions of America. It works, and it will work this time. People shouldn’t

Addressing one of the most sensitive issues in the measure, Bush expressed hope that the changes would reduce the need for a fence

The proposed fence has drawn protests
in Texas, where officials fear it will hinder commerce and cause environmental

“The fence sends a clear signal that we’re serious about enforcing

`Wait a minute. Bad idea.’ I presume we’re not going to build a fence on places

Up to 70% of files exchanged between Saudi teenagers' mobile phones contain

In the giddy spirit of the day, nothing could quite top the wish list bellowed
out by one man in the throng of people greeting American troops from the 101st
Airborne Division who marched into town today. What, the man was asked, did he
hope to see now that the Baath Party had been driven from power in his town?
What would the Americans bring?"Democracy," the man said, his voice rising to
lift each word to greater prominence. "Whiskey. And sexy!"Around him, the crowd roared its approval.
...with the advent of computers and mobile phones we do not have to print anything. Nor does our government have to have its fingerprints on the job. There is more than enough free porno on line to satisfy the immediate demand. In other words Open Source Pornography to the rescue.
Secular and religious revolutionaries in our century have made the identical
mistake, imagining that the workers of the world or the faithful just can't wait
to go home at night to study Marx or the Koran. Well, Joe Sixpack, Ivan
Tipichni, and Ali Quat would rather "Baywatch." America has figured it out, and
we are brilliant at operationalizing our knowledge, and our cultural power will
hinder even those cultures we do not undermine. There is no "peer competitor" in
the cultural (or military) department. Our cultural empire has the addicted--men
and women everywhere--clamoring for more. And they pay for the privilege of
their disillusionment.
We are addicted to their oil, it is the engine of our prosperity. They are addicted to our culture, the engine of their defeat.

The victims were stabbed, strangled and burned, according to the documents. The Dhanaks' Anaheim Hills home was set on fire.
Iftekhar Murtaza was identified by a "victim," according to police documents presented to the Superior Court.
The motive for the crime appears to be a dispute over religion.
"Information developed revealed the suspect was upset with Shayona's parents and sister for discontinuing the relationship due to different religious backgrounds, Hindu and Muslim," the papers said.
The Dhanaks were reported by friends and neighbors to be devout members of the strict Swaminarayan branch of Hinduism. Murtaza is Muslim.

this is a premedidated and absolutely brutal act of jihad by more than one mohammedan.
Anaheim police spokesman Sgt. Rick Martinez said police did not believe the crime to be a murder-suicide.
"We're treating this as a double homicide," Martinez said.
...Van Nuys resident Iftekhar Murtaza was arrested by U.S. Marshals at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, Arizona, as he was attempting to leave the country.
Murtaza is being called a person of interest in the May 21, 2007, Anaheim murders of 56-year-old Jayprakash Dhanak and 20-year-old Karishima Dhanak, and the assault on 53-year-old Leela Dhanak. Karishima Dhanak was the daughter of Jayprakash and Leela.
Leela Dhanak was beaten with a blunt instrument and taken to the hospital. The burned bodies of Jayprakash and Karishima were found later on May 22 on a remote bike path in Irvine.
According to court documents acquired by the Orange County Register, Murtaza was arrested at a Phoenix airport with a one way ticket to Bangladesh.
The court documents detail for the first time a motive for the brutal crimes. Murtaza is Muslim. His girlfriend, 18-year-old Shayona Dhanak, younger sister of Karishma and daughter of Jayprakash who were killed are Hindu, according to the OC Register.
Court documents say that the parents and sister pushed Shayona to discontinue her relationship with Murtaza, according to the OC Register.
Witnesses told detectives they saw two people attacking Leela on the front lawn on May 21, and the Dhanak's Anaheim house was set on fire; the cars in front of the house were also burned.

As one can see, terrorism is a small part of the problem. The major issue is the fusion of religion and politics in Islam. The global Muslim community (the umma) does wish for a grand theocracy
That's certainly not comforting. Most Muslims won't openly support Al Qaeda or its derivatives but then what about sharia? Sharia is made up of retrograde, superstitious and barbaric laws. It, by its very nature, requires force and coercion.

Fanny Esfandiari, a 93-year-old great-grandmother with heart disease and bad eyesight, made a desperate trip to Iran's notorious Evin Prison earlier this month.
"I have to find my daughter," she told relatives reluctant to drive her. None thought it would be productive -- or worth the risks. A nephew finally agreed. He stayed in the car as Esfandiari slowly shuffled on her cane up to the hulking white stone compound in Tehran where Iran's kings and theocrats have incarcerated their most famous political prisoners as well as their toughest criminals.
Esfandiari asked to see her daughter, Haleh Esfandiari of Potomac, a scholar once described as the "gold standard" of Middle East analysts, who was detained by Iranian intelligence on May 8.
The elder Esfandiari was told to try the prison's high-security wing -- the infamous Ward 209. There, however, she was turned away, and slowly made her way back to her nephew's car.

The long war is something the west needs to consider VERY CAREFULLY
TEL AVIV — A leading Israeli general blamed his country's withdrawal from Gaza for the 2006 war with Hizbullah and warned that government inaction against continuing missile strikes will encourage expanded attacks.
"We may have no choice but to take Gaza again," former Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Moshe Ya'alon said. "I'm not talking about ruling the city, but if we don't go in now, when they're firing at Sderot, we'll find ourselves with rockets in Ashdod."
"Forty years after the Six Day War, it seems we've lost our fighting instinct," Ya'alon said. "These last couple of years all we've been hearing is that we are strong enough to concede, strong enough to run away, or at least that's how it's being perceived by the other side."
The west succeeds in warfare by organizing it's entire society to destroy the structure of the enemy. This effort, to succeed means it must be carried out to the endpoint, for to leave the enemy, who outnumbers you intact merely postpones the decision until a less favorable time, with greater casualties.
Law of nature.
Inside this building, a terror suspect ran Metropolitan university's Islamic group. Was it also a recruiting ground for 'holy war'?Funny, then, that this is the university who has repeatedly been in the press due to it's students being involved in extremism. Not just fringe students, but the fucking President of the Islamic Society.
The Department for Education and Skills have warned staff to report suspicious behaviour by students on university campuses, amid fears they are being infiltrated by radical preachers and fanatics. But the University and College Union has branded the move a "witch hunt" that is demonising Muslims, and it will ask it's 120,000 members to refuse to comply with the government request.
Waheed Zaman, 22, a bio-chemistry student and the president of the Islamic Society at London Metropolitan University, was one of 24 people arrested last week. Material found at two portable buildings used by the society includes documents advocating jihad and a pamphlet on how to deal with approaches from the security services. On searching for this story elsewhere, I came across an article from Hot Air on this very news item.
But of course. Jihad is the vanguard of radical dissent; to report it would be positively McCarthyist, even though the defense always offered for American communists, in stark contrast to the mujahedeen, is that they sought peaceful change through traditional political channels.
And to think, some people believe there’s a leftist/Islamist alliance.

RAMALLAH – Israel today arrested a longtime wanted terror leader here in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
According to Israeli security officials and Palestinian sources in Ramallah speaking to WND, the terrorist was arrested while having car sex just a few hundred feet from late PLO leader Yasser Arafat's gravesite.
[...]According to Israeli security officials and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades sources in Ramallah, Shawish was arrested after the Israeli police stormed his jeep, which was parked in a lot outside the Muqata, about 200 feet from Arafat's grave. The sources said at the time of his arrest, Shawish was having intercourse in the back seat of his jeep with a Palestinian woman, whose identity is being withheld by WND. The woman was not his wife.
The Brigades, founded by Arafat, largely considers the late PLO leader's resting place to be a sacred site.

THE HAGUE -- If Amsterdam city council bars construction of the
Westermoskee mosque, a great demonstration of Turks from throughout Europe will
be held. The possibility of this degenerating into violence cannot be ruled out,
the Turkish organisation Milli Gorus warns.
The controversial Westermoskee in Amsterdam will be built come what
may, said Fatih Dag of the Turkish mosque organisation in Trouw newspaper. If
the government blocks its building, Milli Gorus will call on Turks throughout
the whole of Europe to demonstrate. Dag hopes this would be a peaceful
procession, but fears it could get out of hand. "Our people are emotional and
someone crazy can just be walking among them," he said in the
newspaper.
The building of the 42 metre tall, 18-million euros Neo-Ottoman
Westermoskee was blocked months ago after Milli Gorus' orthodox German head
office replaced management in Amsterdam. After that, reports surfaced that Milli
Gorus had wheedled billions of euros out of Turks since the 1990s by having them
invest in Islamic investment funds.
Amsterdam politicians advised against the building of the new
Westermoskee in the 1990s for fears of the orthodox course, but after much
lobbying, the project was last year dubbed a symbol of integration by the then
Justice Minster Donner, who laid the foundation-stone. Last week, it was made
known that municipal authorities and Milli Gorus had suspended their cooperation
on the building anyway.
If the licence for the mosque is definitively withdrawn, this would
be "extremely foolish," warns Dag. "I will then immediately call for a
demonstration. If every Milli Gorus mosque in Europe sends a bus, it will
certainly be busy. I have not tipped off Al Jazeera, but they will certainly get
wind of it, and I will speak to them. That will go out to the entire Arabic
world, cross my heart. All Muslims have a satellite dish, so they will see that
a beautiful project for Muslims is being forbidden here."
"Do not forget", added Dag in Trouw, "that we began the project
with a number of Turks, but with all the hindrance, it has now become a matter
for many Muslims throughout the Netherlands. I expect a revolt among them,
naturally within the legal boundaries, but still: Our people are more emotional than you Europeans. And there can be a crazy person among them."Amsterdam's Mayor Cohen declined to comment on the apparent threats by Dag. According to his spokesman, the mayor does however want to hear "what is going on" personally from Dag.
BAGHDAD — U.S. forces raided an Al Qaeda hide-out northeast of Baghdad on Sunday and freed 42 Iraqis imprisoned inside, including some who had been tortured and suffered broken bones, a senior U.S. military official said Sunday.Fox News
The raid was part of a 3-month-old security crackdown that included the deployment of 3,000 more U.S. troops to Diyala, a violent province north of the capital that has seen heavy fighting in recent weeks, said Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, the top U.S. military spokesman in Iraq.
Caldwell said Iraqis told U.S. forces about the hide-out: "The people in Diyala are speaking up against Al Qaeda."
He said the 42 freed Iraqis marked the largest number of captives ever found in a single Al Qaeda prison. Some of those freed were held for as long as four months and some had injuries from torture and were taken to medical facilities for treatment, he said.
While a lot of people who apparently don't get out a lot railed and screeched over Abu Ghraib's famed "panties on the head" abuse of prisoners, very few of these pseudo-intellectuals can be bothered to comment about the genuine bloody torture that is occurring on the battlefield of the Long War.The Smoking Gun describes the instructions contained in an al-Qaeda torture manual found by US troops in a raid on a safe house in Iraq. (Warning graphic drawings)Source
In a recent raid on an al-Qaeda safe house in Iraq, U.S. military officials recovered an assortment of crude drawings depicting torture methods like “blowtorch to the skin” and “eye removal.” Along with the images, which you’ll find on the following pages, soldiers seized various torture implements, like meat cleavers, whips, and wire cutters.
