Holy Antisemitism

Israel Condemns Vatican’s ‘Concentration Camp’ Remarks

ROME — Tensions rose between the Vatican and Israel on Thursday after Israel condemned a high-ranking Vatican official for comparing the Gaza Strip to “a concentration camp.”

"Look at the conditions in Gaza: more and more, it resembles a big concentration camp,” Cardinal Renato Martino, the president of the Council for Justice and Peace, said in an interview published Wednesday in an online publication.

He defended his comments in the center-left daily newspaper La Repubblica on Thursday. While noting that Hamas rockets into Israel were “certainly not sugared almonds,” he called the situation in Gaza “horrific” and said conditions there went “against human dignity.”

Israel on Thursday harshly condemned the cardinal’s use of World War Two imagery. “We are astounded that a spiritual dignitary would have such words, that are so far removed from truth and dignity,” said Yigal Palmor, a spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

He added that it was “shocking to hear the vocabulary of Hamas propaganda coming from a member of the church.”

Full Story

Myself I am not surprised by this remark coming from the Vatican

The story of the Holocaust in wartime Croatia is absent from many scholarly discussions of the Holocaust and from most Holocaust museums in this country. It is an odd omission considering the fact that if one defines the Holocaust from the first mass murders of civilians, then the Holocaust itself began in Croatia with the first murders of Serbs, Jews and Gypsies by the Croatian fascist regime in April 1941 -- some nine months before the Wannsee Conference, more than two months before the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union. It is like a book whose first chapter is torn out.

What then are the political reasons for the systematic and deliberate suppression of the history of the Holocaust in Croatia? There are several, and they are all connected to vital geo-political considerations of the leading Western powers.... But all of these justifications pale in comparison to the importance placed on suppressing the truth about the Vatican's and the Catholic Church's role in the Holocaust in fascist Croatia. For in Croatia, the question of what role the Catholic Church played in the Holocaust is not limited to the relatively minor issues of whether they did or spoke out enough against it -- here the question concerns the role of the Church and the Vatican in running concentration camps and in carrying out a religiously inspired genocide.

Hell Run by Wild Bloodthirsty Animals

In his 1997 book Jasenovac Then and Now: A Conspiracy of Silence, William Dorich documents dozens of eye witness testimonies which place the number of victims at Jasenovac at well over 400,000 as early as 1942, including the testimonies of a number of German officers. Croatian revisionists who now place the number of dead as low as 40,000 or to an insulting high of 97,000 imply that there were no atrocities committed against the Serbs and Jews for the remaining 3 years of the war? There were only 87 survivors of the Jasenovac Concentration Camp, named the “Auschwitz of the Balkans” by most historians. These survivors place the number of dead in excess of 800,000.

One of those survivors was Antun Miletich, a Croatian. Here is his 1948 testimony: “There is not a pen capable of describing the horror and terror of the atmosphere at Jasenovac. It surpasses any human fantasy. Imagine Hell, the Inquisition, a terror more dreadful than any that ever before existed anywhere, run by bloodthirsty wild animals whose most hidden and disgusting instinct had come to the surface in a way never before seen in human beings — and still you have not said enough.”

The Jasenovac system of Croatian camps also included a camp for children run by Catholic nuns who used toxic soda to save bullets. They put to death over 100,000 Serbian children under the age of ten years. There are hundreds of documents to attest to these hideous crimes.

There are countless documents that also attest to the fact that 743 Roman Catholic priests were members of the Ustashi and personally murdered Serbs, Jews and Gypsies. Jasenovac was for a time, run by Fr. Filipovic-Majstorovic, a Catholic priest who admitted to killing “40,000 Serbs with his own hands.” The 40,000 figure was used in 1991 by the late Croatian president, Franjo Tudjman, who was quoted in the Jerusalem Post on December, 1991 as saying, “I am a doubly lucky man, my wife is neither Serbian nor Jewish.” His insistence that “only 40,000 Serbs perished at Jasenovac” exposes the level of cover up of this genocide by the Croatian people.

Fr. Petar Brzica, a Catholic priest and camp guard at Jasenovac was nicknamed “King of the Killers.” In a contest on August 29, 1942 to see who could kill the most Serbs in one night Fr. Brzica won by slitting the throats of 1,350 Serbs.

The 743 Roman Catholic priests who participated in the killing of tens of thousands of Serbs, Jews and Gypsies and the running of Jasenovac escaped Europe through the “Vatican Ratline” run by Fr. Draganovich, a Croatian Catholic priest who helped morons like Clause Barbe escape from Europe. Those Catholic priests escaped to Argentina where they also escaped justice.

It was not until 4/7/1994 that Vatican acknowledges Holocaust (Nazi's killing Jews) for 1st time.

So the Vatican still has not moved away from its antisemitism

shiva,

Well so much for any hope that the church will defend western civilization. The Vatican is probably going to make a lot of devote Catholics suddenly doubt their faith because of this. Especially when the pope's condemnation of Israel is combined with the pedophile priest scandal.

ah, yes . . .the infamous Cardinal Renato Martino, who heads the migrant office . . . the same Cardinal Ranato Martino who
protested the U.S. treatment of Saddam Hussein.

He is not quite the nut his concentration camp quote makes him out to be but definitely mixed bag. . . The Cardinal believes that the Cold War was WWIII, and the War on Terror is the beginning of WWIV - despite it beginning nearly 1400 years ago. This Cardinal demonstrates that the Vatican wants to protect the position of Christians, who live in a state of permanent insecurity wherever, in the Dar al-Islam, they live.

From 2005: Take a look at this article:

There is a Realpolitik motivation behind this understatement from Vatican authorities and their newspaper: silence on the Islamic origin of the terrorist offensive is the price paid to protect Christians from more serious threats, and in particular the Christians who live in Muslim countries.

But at the same time, the Vatican is aware that the current "fourth world war" (the words of Cardinal Renato Martino, imprudent as usual) against the West, Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim “apostates” is not the result of generic terrorism, but of Islamist terrorism.

In 2006 he was quoted:

Cardinal Renato Martino said immigrants must respect the traditions, culture and religion of the nations they go to.

They ought to abide by local laws banning the wearing of certain types of Muslim veils, he added.

"It seems elementary to me and it is quite right that the authorities demand it," said Cardinal Martino, who heads the Vatican department dealing with migration issues.

From 2004 ---> "Martino, the Vatican's observer at the UN for 12 years before becoming president of the Pontifical Council for Peace and Justice, believes the UN can repeat its master stroke in resolving Kosovo, as well as its stunning success in the Middle East."

So there you have it . . .a Cardinal who wants reciprocation of respect for faith yet thinks Kosovo was a stroke of genius.

Mixed bag with this one.

Missionaries must be prepared to become martyrs. When they go out in the field, that is the challenge they take on.

A church administration which, instead, attempts to mitigate that face, and give Missionaries an easy life is pretty much turning against what the Bible says.

We are supposed to take comfort when others attack us for standing for the Truth.

I do not agree, if the Vatican was really concerned about the security of Christians in Dar al-Islam then they should be more aggressive towards Islam, and less appeasing

Tell me honestly fellow boggers, how many Muslims do you think are going to think what some Cardinal says in Rome, when they are pumped up with hate after friday prayers and armed with a gasoline bomb and the urge to burn the local church.

I have seen it happen, and theres no way a mindless mob is going to heed the words of the papal traitors in Rome.

Oh yes Kosovo was a stroke of genius for the Cardinal

Remember the Whitehouse psychopath (alias: slick willy) went to St. Louis, Missouri to have a meeting with the Pope, just a few days, before he started bombing the Serb's. What's this tell you.

Clinton called Serbia, Yugoslavia: This means Clinton does not recognize the sovereignty of the Serbian people in their own land.

Clinton target bombed the WWII war memorial bridge across the Danube river in the middle of Novi Sad (where the Nazi's killed over 9000 Serbs) killing over 100 people on their way to work (no military in the region). He bombed business buildings, appliance and pharmaceutical factories, commercial power and water plants, schools and orphanages in Belgrade. Hows that for concern for human suffering? Yes there really was ethnic cleansing going on, and its the US and NATO that was doing it with the blessing from the Vatican

shiva,

I personally don't like Clinton, but I would consider calling his actions in Serbia genocide, to be a huge exaggeration.

Shiva,

Plus wasn't s Slobodan_Milošević, a war criminal? Wasn't he accused of genocide?

The Prosecution failed to present significant or compelling evidence of any criminal act or intention of President Milošević.

It was considered likely that, if allowed to present his case, Milošević would attempt to establish that NATO's attack on Yugoslavia was aggressive, thus being a war crime under international law and that, while supporting the Kosovo Liberation Army or KLA , were aware that they had practiced and intended to continue practicing genocide.
