America, America

Pamela writes:

This film is the most poignant and realistic portrayal ever by Hollywood of the dhimmi condition. Bat Ye'or recommends it as an introduction to the study of dhimmitude for the masses.

America, America. Elia Kazan, the patriot whom Hollywood hates, made this film based on his family's experience under the dhimma of the Muslim Turks in interior Anatolia. His family left before the massive ethnic cleansing took place. The Byzantine Greeks fought the Muslims since they reared their ugly head in the 7th century. Sadly, the fight was lost in 1453 when Constantinople, the richest, most prosperous European city, was taken by the Muslim Turk savage.

Much thanks to "proud Greek American" Jim, who sent the film (and remarks) in.

Revere Rides Again comments: A riveting and moving film. I watched it this morning.

If this becomes all of Europe as Sarkozy predicts, where will those too proud to be dhimmis go if Obama has initiated the process here as well.

Good point. I'm going to put your comment in this post, with a link back to the Sarkozy post.

This is a prescient film. I hope it goes viral.

Where will Sarkozy's masses go? If they come here, they're likely to bring their high brow surrender tactics with them. No thanks. The French must learn to correct their own mistakes and fight their own battles.

Struck by the despair and sense of gratitude/appreciation of the immigrants in this film, it begs the question, how many of our current generation of immigrants truely appreciate coming to 'America, America'? The generation depicted in this film did not expect a hand out - they expected a fresh start, achieving their wealth through the sweat of their own brow, with possibly a hand up from relatives or connections - not a handout or perpetual subsidy from Uncle Sam's taxpaying citizens.

I'm burning a few copies of this film and inserting the discs into each of my copies of Bat Ye'or's 'dhimmi' series of books for circulation - as I am ever greatful that this film exists and was brought to our attention! A film like this is not likely to ever be made in this day and age of PC deceit.

Yes, the film, "America, America" should go viral! I'm sending the link out to all in my e-box address book.

Thank you for posting!

Anonymous,

Sarkozy is just about the biggest useful idiot on the planet. Even if he knows nothing about Islamic theology, you would think that the actions of so many Muslims in his country, particularly over the Danish Cartoon riots, would give him pause. The fact that large numbers of Muslims won't live under French law and demand a separate set of laws for themselves, should be a wake up call, to even the most ignorant, that they don't want to be a part of French society. Most of the things going on in France should be a wake up call, not just for France, but for the rest of Europe, because, most of it is not just happening in France.

Pastorius,

By the way, sorry, I wasn't able to watch the film today, maybe some other time.

HRW,
You are a creative and tireless fighter for the anti-Jihad. Thanks for all you do.
