THE CROSS INSULTS ISLAM! RED CROSS URGED TO DROP THE CROSS AS IT'S SYMBOL, IT'S SO ....."CRUSADES"

From Atlas Shrugs:

Redcross
You can't make this stuff up.

In the UK, their Labour minister is urging the Red Cross to drop one of the most recognizable icons the world. It insult Islam.

If the cross is "undermining the work of the humanitarian organisation" why provide "humanitarian" aid to anti-humans? Why nourish people that kill, persecute, force conversion on non-believers.

Islamic supremacism is not just territorial. It's .......... everything.

Labour minister has sparked controversy by claiming that an alternative symbol is needed for the Red Cross because of the logo's supposed links to the Crusades.

Foreign Office minister Chris Bryant said that the historic emblem risked undermining the work of the humanitarian organisation.

His intervention came as MPs debated the adoption of the 'red crystal' - a diamond-shaped badge - to avoid the religious connotations of the cross and crescent symbols currently used by the international body.

But critics said the new insignia was a sop to political correctness and warned that it may be the first step towards it replacing cross and crescent. Others fear that it may not be as widely recognised on the battlefield.

'It is, in an effort not to be contentious, possibly too anodyne to serve its purpose,' Tory MP John Hayes said.

Philip Davies, a Tory backbencher, said: 'At face value to the layman it seems at best a solution looking for a problem and at worst another example of extreme political correctness.

[...]

'There is also a risk of confusion with many different symbols, and that terrorists may exploit that to mask themselves when carrying out attacks,' he added.

The founding Conference of the Red Cross Movement in 1863 adopted a red cross on a white background – the reverse of the Swiss flag – as the emblem of the voluntary medical personnel who assisted the wounded on the battlefield.

It was never intended to have any religious meaning and is thought to have been intended as a tribute to traditionally neutral Switzerland, which hosted the conference.

However, the symbol unintentionally raised suggestions that it was somehow linked to the Hospitallers, a military order which took part in the Crusades, the centuries long series of military campaigns waged by Christians from Europe.

Subsequently, a red crescent emblem was adopted in tandem.

Mr Bryant told the Commons: 'The reference to the Crusades is... not lost to some people which, of course, anybody involved in the Red Cross would wholly deprecate.

'The truth of the matter is that it has been difficult in some places for us to ensure that these connotations of a religious war or a religious crusade don't undermine the work that the Red Cross or Red Crescent is able to do.'

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement hope that the neutrality of the red crystal will help improve protection for casualties, military medical services and humanitarian workers.

It was chosen because it is devoid of religious and other partisan connotations.

'Soldier badge is banned'?

ARMED cops patrolling Heathrow Airport have been banned from wearing tiny Union Jack badges in support of British troops.

It appears as if there is a concerted uniform effort to rid England of her Christian symbolism.

Where the fuck is the Church of England?

Pastorius,

In Muslim countries, they already, don't have the red cross. From what I hear, their version of the red cross, uses their crescent as a symbol, so as not to offend them. Yet the red cross symbol even in Europe, is not really the same as a christian cross. Its not the same shape. A Christian cross is longer on the bottom, while all points on a red medical cross are the same length. In high school, one of my teachers told me that when you make a map, you have to make sure not to confuse the symbol for hospital with the symbol for church. Remember to make all lines the same length and meet in the middle when trying to designate a hospital. He told us to do this so people would know where to send sick people. It had nothing to do with offending Muslims. We are not only dealing with barbarians here, we are dealing with overly sensitive cry baby barbarians.

Sameno Kami,
You're right! We did cross out the cross with a cross.

How insensitive of us.

I think we ought to curl up and die. That's the only thing that will make the Muslims happy.

Anon. - you must not be a very smart muslim ('course muslims ain't too smart anyway or else they wouldn't be muslims.)
The problem is we DO know about islam. We've read the book. We've seen the way they act.
You condone murderous behavior because moHAMmed (islam's perfect man) condoned it.
Oh, and islam means submission not peace. Just so you know.
YOU are the one that needs to question what you believe, cause it does not line up with the koran and the hadiths.

you have just ranted and threw in clever little insults yet you havent proven anything from the book which supports your accusations.
and as for knowing how people act, last i heard everyone is independant, so shouldnt they be treated as individulas and not stereotyped.
And as for condoning murderous behaviour, most people relate to the koran like this;

For example, one verse (in its snipped version) reads: "slay them wherever you catch them" (Qur'an 2:191). But who is this referring to? Who are "they" that this verse discusses? The preceding and following verses give the correct context:

"Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loves not transgressors. And slay them wherever you catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter... But if they cease, God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful... If they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression" (2:190-193).

It is clear from the context that these verses are discussing a defensive war, when a Muslim community is attacked without reason, oppressed and prevented from practicing their faith. In these circumstances, permission is given to fight back -- but even then Muslims are instructed not to transgress limits, and to cease fighting as soon as the attacker gives up. Even in these circumstances, Muslim are only to fight directly against those who are attacking them, not innocent bystanders or non-combatants.

peace.

p.s I too could throw clever insults but there wont be much difference between me and you. I hoped i would get a reasonable intellectual argument hope you can give me that.

Quote something from Sura 9.
Here's a good one-
9:29
Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

That's pretty clear. Good try tho'. Taqqiyah. Lie some more to me, but first you should know what that crappy religion of yours teaches.

Would all of you just shut up. Christians, do you really expect someone to turn away from islam when you clearly show that you are ignorant of their faith and don't realize that the muslims that the media shows are extremists. Also, through out history there have been terrorist acts performed by christians around the world. why bash on an entire religion. Doesn't Exodus condone AGRESSIVE violence to capture the promises of God? Stop playing the my religion is better because i say it is card and start walking the talk.

Wahhh!

SHUT UP!

oh, and muslims,

the cross used by the Red Cross has been a recognizable symbol for a neutral profession for over 150 years. it is not an afront to Islam. Personally it is a reminder to keep your body in balance. All of the arms are balanced. Stop getting caught up in the religious symbology and accept the assistance that is offered

3:04 Anon.- love the way you reach back 1000's of yrs to trash the Juice and 100's of yrs to trash Christians.
We only have to go back 15min. to trash islam, cause somewhere in the world a muslim is doing what mohammed the pedophile, murdering pervert told them to do - kill people. islam is a blood-thirsty killer cult.
Note the emphasis - 'told them to do.'
You won't find that in Juice or Christian theology because nowhere in Jewish or Christian holy texts are they commanded to conquer the world and kill everyone who doesn't believe they way they do.
islam, not so much.
Nice try.
