Mother Russia Hit By the Jihad Again?

Breaking News

It is being reported on the news channels that more than 100 people have been killed by a massive explosion in a Russian nightclub. The club is in the city of Perm, about 700 miles east of Moscow. There are "no immediate reports on the possible cause of the explosion".

Update: Apparently the Russian media is blaming the explosion on "fireworks". (Possibly pyrotechnics such as killed 100 people at the Station nightclub in Rhode Island some years back?)

The pyrotechnics at the Rhode Island club did not include "a massive explosion".

No, they didn't. That was a fire, panic and blocked exits, not an explosion.

Anyway you slice it, fireworks and nightclubs are a bad mix.

Got to get up very early tomorrow and head for New York. I'll be the one in the black coat, blue scarf (NOT on my head), and Mo' Da Bomb t-shirt waving the orange sign with TREASON on one side and GUILTY on the other. Should stand right out in the middle of about a million pissed-off New Yorkers all waving signs and yelling.

Revere Rides Again,

If this is Jihad, it wouldn't surprise me.

Apparently, this is something known in Russia as a "Fire Show". I agree with RRA, fireworks and nightclubs are a very bad mix.

It would be interesting if it was another Jihadi attack, mainly because the Russians are probably the most likely to launch a brutal counter attack against any movement of people getting out of hand. The limiting factor for any Western country deploying an army amongst the people (Iraq and Afghanistan spring to mind) is the media backlash for each and every civilian casualty. The Russians on the other hand don't give a fuck and with this limiting factor removed would be far more affective at removing the threat.

Take the Gaza operation last year, imagine the carnage a Russian division would have made of it. There would have been very little left of Gaza, including places or people to fire rockets which, of course, was the purpose of the response.

OMG, it sounds like a re-run of The Station. Those "cold" pyrotechnics set off the ceiling and it flashed across and blocked off escape. Ghastly.

Well, I'm off to NYC...
