“Economically, the case for a massive stimulus is a good deal stronger”

The line from progressives this morning.

STIMULATE WHAT?

The infrastructure? That is the case being made.

How many interstate bridges being rebuilt will employ HOW MANY PEOPLE FOR HOW LONG?

And the money will come from where besides the new federally funded money presses we will build with temp hires?

The car industry is permanently GONE. Forget it. It is now the province of multinational corporate responsibilities not looking at ANYTHING patriotic. It’s STRICTLY about where the costs are lowest and the profits highest. This was for 70+ years the largest industry in the USA.

It takes 2 people to produce and monitor the production system for software for tens of thousands.

The low tech mass production has been, AT THIS MOMENT, been FREE TRADED out to China, Mexico, and places like Tolucca and other unheard of living in cardboard boxes workers’ paradises.

If we are to keep Free Trade as it is, we need NEW industries whose products and services will replace what IS with what is invented and will be PRODUCED HERE ALONE.

That means R&D.

Of what?

Windmills? Are you kidding? Photovoltaic cells? BOUTIQUE STUPID ANSWERS.

FUSION REACTORS? Maybe.

Robots? We’re behind Korea and Japan, but so what?

Ipads and Tablets? Designed and invented here but produced in Shenzen, sorry

What will capture the scientists, engineers, professors, students, workers, union stewards mind and bodies for the next 50 years and fill the line with FINANCIAL PROMISE?

Is this being asked behind closed doors, Mr’s. Boehner, Cantor, McCaonnel, Pawlenty, Romney, Perry and Ms Bachmann? Or are you all just playing defense and partisan attack on tactics?

What’s at stake is FAR MORE than 2012.

ACT LIKE IT

We solve this issue or we are Spain in 1750.

That’s all there is.

The debt
the budget
Medicare, Social Security
the farcical ‘downgrade’
and other entitlements
are all
SYMPTOMS
of the core problem.
