Trayvon Martin's Drug Abuse: Lean/Purple Drank and DXM (a PCP-like substance)

From Doug Ross did all the heavy lifting so the Mainstream Media would not have to:

...Trayvon was admittedly, according to his Facebook conversations, a user of DXM and Purple Drank/Lean since at least June 2011. He was also an admitted smoker of Marijuana which was found in both his urine and blood tests. His liver indicates the beginning stages of an unusual degrading known as “mild fatty metamorphasis”, and his brain tissue appeared compromised, both conditions symptomatic of DXM use.

---

National media ignored some of the most significant aspects of the tragic Martin-Zimmerman case, among them Martin's suspected involvement with burglary, PCP-like drug cocktails, and/or drug dealing.

Burglary Tools:
Trayvon Martin’s phone was full of text messages, pictures and videos suggestive of drugs, violence and criminal behavior. [According to the Miami Herald,] Trayvon Martin was on his third suspension from school [and t]here is evidence Trayvon Martin had burglarized homes and/or school lockers:

In October, a school police investigator said he saw Trayvon on the school surveillance camera in an unauthorized area “hiding and being suspicious.” Then he said he saw Trayvon mark up a door with “W.T.F” — an acronym for “what the f—.” The officer said he found Trayvon the next day and went through his book bag in search of the graffiti marker. Instead the officer reported he found women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that he described as a “burglary tool” ...

Word of the incident came as the family’s lawyer acknowledged that the boy was suspended in February for getting caught with an empty bag with traces of marijuana [and his] backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described silver wedding bands and earrings with diamonds. Trayvon was asked if the jewelry belonged to his family or a girlfriend. “Martin replied it’s not mine. A friend gave it to me,” he responded, according to the report. Trayvon declined to name the friend. Trayvon was not disciplined because of the discovery, but was instead suspended for graffiti, according to the report. School police impounded the jewelry and sent photos of the items to detectives at Miami-Dade police for further investigation...

...That suspension was followed four months later by another one in February, in which Trayvon was caught with an empty plastic bag with traces of marijuana in it. A schools police report obtained by The Miami Herald specifies two items: a bag with marijuana residue and a “marijuana pipe.”

Drug Use:

There are a series of compelling articles on the web that describe Martin's alleged abuse of a powerful, home-made PCP-like drug called "Lean" (also known as "Skittles"). Its reported side-effects can include breaks with reality, extreme paranoia and fits of violence.

One of the most painstakingly documented summaries is excerpted below:

Several weeks ago, as further information and discovery came to the surface the whole framing of the original media narrative began to crumble, I stumbled over a reference to “DXM” in Trayvon’s Facebook history... As I use these Facebook discussions from Trayvon I’m going to correct the [grammar] unless it seems necessary to reference directly to the source...

unow a connect for codine” or
“do you know of a connection for codeine”?

Our first question then becomes “What exactly is “lean”"? According to Urban Dictionary, “Lean” is described as follows:
“… 6. Lean is a mixed drink originating in the Southern Rap culture. It is a mixture of Promethazine and Codeine cough syrup and a soft drink such as Sprite (usually). While other soft drinks may be used, Sprite was the original. [And now also Arizona Watermelon for Watermelon Drank/Lean]
There are some variations of Lean. For example, Promethazine and Codeine syrup is usually Purple in color. But there are other colors of syrup that work the same way. There is a golden-colored syrup (hydrocodone based) and other colors as well.
Lean slows you down. It makes you feel good. It’s meant to be sipped on, and it taste damn good. One of the best feelings you will ever experience. Euphoria with a hint of sedation. …”
Lean is also the drug mixture that killed Pimp C...
OK, so now we know Trayvon is seeking a source for a powerful cough syrup, commonly used in the ”drug culture or circle” to make an intoxicating drink called “Lean” – also known as the infamous “purple drank/Purple Lean/Lean/Sizzurp.”
Purple Lean, or Lean, is an intoxicating beverage also known by the names leansizzurp, and liquid codeine. It is commonly abused by southern rappers and wannabe suburban teenagers. It is a mixture of Promethazine/Codeine cough syrup and sprite, or other beverage [such as Arizona Watermelon] with a few jolly ranchers and/or skittles thrown in.

There are your “DXM” ”Watermelon Lean” Ingredients

Arizona Watermelon Juice purchased from 7-11 included in the Crime Scene Photographs and incorrectly listed/discussed as “Tea” by Benjamin Crump, the media, and even police reporting authorities.
Promethazine with codeine, consumed in such large amounts as is popular with such southern rappers as lil wayneslim thug, and Big Moe, produces an opiate-like high that is potentiated by the Promethazine.
Promethazine by itself will not produce a high. The beverage must be sipped slowly, and not guzzled, in order to avoid unconsciousness and/or life threatening overdose.
But what does this have to do with Robitussin or “DXM”? Trayvon clarifies in his next message:
“codine is a higher dose of dxm”
…...and further believes he can obtain the same high [as smoking pot] by drinking “Lean” . But that’s not nearly as important as the fact that he’s clearly under the impression that prescription Codine is a stronger form of the drug DXM found in various versions of cough suppressant or cough medications.
So, what then exactly is “DXM“?
DXM” is an abbreviation for the cough suppressant Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide — which is the active ingredient in the cough-syrup brand Robitussin.
According to numerous websites found with a search, DXM is increasingly being abused as a recreational drug. One of the more scholarly and scientific sites found with in-depth analysis of DXM and its various uses is “Erowid.org“... According to Erowid’s ”DXM Home Page“:
DXM is a widely available over-the-counter cough suppressant. When taken far above its standard medical dosage, it is a strong dissociative used primarily by teens.
...Erowid begins to hint at DXM’s seriousness in their “DXM Basics” discussion:
“…High doses … are sometimes compared to the effects of other dissociatives such as PCP or ketamine…”
This stuff is compared to PCP ? This is no exaggeration! DXM in higher doses is actually a very volatile and dangerous drug, and they are quite right when they compare DXM to PCP and Ketamine!
In fact, the drug has come to be known in some circles as “Poor-Man’s PCP!
Perhaps more importantly, unlike marijuana and many other drugs of abuse, DXM does not cause sedation, and in fact can produce profound agitation hence the comparison to PCP. In the “DXM Basics – Problems” section, Erowid notes:
“…DXM causes physical and psychological effects that may be frightening or unpleasant… Psychological effects can include profound disorientation, depression, a feeling of personal disintegration, or a feeling of “unreality” and disconnection that may persist for days. Chronic use may cause depression, psychological dependency, and possibly brain damageLarge doses may be associated with psychotic breaks…”
...We know from his own words to his friends that Trayvon has used DXM as far back as June 2011... We [also] know from Trayvon’s own words that he’s experienced “lean” – and since he knows what DXM is – but thinks the promethazine/codeine cocktail is “a higher dose” then he’s also experienced DXM, at least at a “lower plateau.”
In answer to the question “What’s the DXM Trip Like” the author says:
“Well, that depends on how much you take. There are four different kinds of experiences, based on the dosage; these are called plateaus.
The first plateau is a mild stimulant effect with a little bit of a buzz, and has been compared to MDA [a more psychedelic cousin of MDMA -aka-"Ecstasy"].
The second plateau is more intoxicating and has been compared to being drunk and stoned at the same time.
The third plateau is dissociative, like a lower dose of ketamine.
The fourth plateau is fully dissociative like a higher dose of ketamine.
You should not [emphasis original!] attempt higher plateau doses unless you have someone with you who can take care of you in case you get sick or freak out. It happens on DXM.
Many things can happen unexpectedly on upper plateaus, such as spontaneous memory recall, complex delusions, hallucinations, out-of-body experiences, near-death experiences, and perceived contact with spiritual or alien entities. You need to be prettystable and grounded before you can handle these things“.
...In the FAQ’s section on “Psychotic Breaks” the author notes:
“…Be very careful in trying to restrain the tripper, since she or he may perceive this as a threat, and will probably be mostly immune to pain...the tripper, like a cornered animal, could beat the living sh** out of you without thinking twice.(!!) …”
So, where does all of this lead? At this point, after reviewing all the information, it appears quite [possible] that a ... drug cocktail use specifically led to the mindset, or psychological environment, between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin on the night of February 26th.
The tone or hostility of the encounter, and Trayvon’s response to being confronted, would more easily be understood against the backdrop of the discovery for his prior drug use; and more specifically the types of drugs being used.
...Trayvon was admittedly, according to his Facebook conversations, a user of DXM and Purple Drank/Lean since at least June 2011. He was also an admitted smoker of Marijuana which was found in both his urine and blood tests. His liver indicates the beginning stages of an unusual degrading known as “mild fatty metamorphasis”, and his brain tissue appeared compromised, both conditions symptomatic of DXM use.
In addition he was suspended from school three times in the past seven months prior to the shooting for behavioral issues. He was detached from adult supervision at the time in question, in a relatively unfamiliar place, and according to his father Tracy Martin, grounded. His girlfriend describes their phone call as Trayvon being “paranoid”.
Trayvon makes a trip to the store and buys two of the specific three ingredients needed to blend a drug cocktail he was well versed in making (Lean). And appeared slightly exagerrated, tenuous, and wobbly (swaying) when you objectively review his physical movements on the video of the store during the purchase.
He was a little more than a half a mile from home (Brandy’s house), yet he left the store at 6:24 and was first noted at the clubhouse at 7:09pm. If he intended to go straight home from the store, and under normal cognitive capacity, he should have made the 1/2 mile trip in well under 30 minutes, well under.

Maybe some "journalists" like the clownish Matt Gutman of ABC News could investigate these well-documented reports, that is, if they get bored rewriting DNC press releases as "news".

This is crap. Toxicology report showed small amounts of thc in his system (not enough to indicate he was high at the time.) He wasn't on anything else. This is pure speculation, and definitely a craven attempt at character assassination. This isn't journalism any more than a wet fart is.

Also he never got the chance to open the can, so how could he have been intoxicated during the altercation?

This is not crap. The point is that he was addicted to THC and codeine.

The point of this is in all likelihood going through withdrawals.

----------------------------

Significance of Trayvon's Marijuana Withdrawal:

Mood Swings

From depression, anger and euphoria and back again.

Irritability and anger are common

More than half (50.1%) of those who try to quit marijuana report mood swings, irritability or anxiety. Others report aggression, nervousness, restlessness and a loss of concentration.

Trayvon's withdrawal symptoms from codeine include;

The withdrawal symptoms of codeine addiction can vary in strength as well as interrupt your ability to accomplish even the smallest of tasks.

The symptoms of withdrawal can also lead to impaired social function because you may not feel the ability, or the want, to interact with other people.

An intense physical cravings for the drug,

Thoughts of suicide or hurting others,

Psychosis,

Irritability,

Obsess about getting the drug

Easily agitated,

Racing thoughts

Hallucinations.

If the mother and father of Trayvon wish to push for a civil suit based on wrongful death of a minor, then they are going to have a difficult time proving that their son was not under the influence of withdrawal symptoms of these two very addictive and mental impairing drugs.

They cannot.

Science will prove this, as well as the evidence of Trayvon's blood and urine trace, his tweets to his friends, his relationships with the living, who are not your model citizens and have their own dirty laundry to be aired in court to show Trayvon's poor decision making abilities in choosing his friends.

I am convinced that the mother and father should leave well enough alone, and stick to educating their remaining children in being responsible citizens, and keeping the memory of Trayvon in good standing instead of bringing it out into the open and dishonoring the good that was in him.

A while back, I discovered that the DXM in OTC medications gave me insomnia and put me into a bitch of a mood (more of a bitch of a mood than is my norm, that is). DXM also pushed my blood pressure waaaay up.

That the information about Trayvon's Martin use of OTC's has been kept from the public is all part of the agenda.

BTW, a few years ago, I had a student who fooled around with this stuff. Big personality change with lots of aggression!

Its worse if he wasn't high or was dealing with withdrawal because then he was just a violent bastard who reaped what he sowed. Good f***in riddance.

I'm sick of the whole world whining about this punk. Yeah its sad when a KID dies. This idiot should have stayed a kid.

I never cry over people who commit suicide or die of drug overdose, I don't give two sh*ts about this moron either. If you are hell bent on destroying your own life, it does me no harm for you to do so. Hence don't expect me to f***in care after you've willfully wasted your life. Just make sure you pick a good high spot when you decide to jump off that cliff...like Trayvon Martin did.

And when terrorists start supporting you (https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/1001700_10201651744560975_1643964821_n.jpg, then in my book, you can go to hell for all I care.

Anonymous No. !,

1) We are not saying he was high on it at the time.

2) toxicology tests do not test for DXM to my knowledge, so we wouldn't know whether he was or not anyway

3) the process of getting high and withdrawing from drugs is a cycle and it does add to mood swings and lack of judgement

4) the real point here is, we don't know where he may have been in such a cycle, but we do know he was a regular user to some degree.

THAT'S THE POINT.

I think the point was pretty clearly stated in the article.

Sorry if you missed it.

Did it make you punch anyone in the head?

The point is, that you say yourself that you don't know. You don't know if he was on it or experiencing withdrawal. It's pure speculation. That's why I think it's ironic when you talk about others as "journalists" in quotation marks.

It would be like someone bringing up Zimmerman's past run ins with the law and the restraining order for domestic violence his ex fiancee brought up, in order to imply that he has a violent temperment. You're so ready to cast trayvon in a negative light that you will make these speculations, because if he was just a thug or a druggie you can write off what happened to him much easier.

Pastorius said...

Journalists have not bothered to report on the contents of his Facebook page, his backpack at school, his suspension record, his use of marijuana, the content of his cell phone text messages, the photos and videos on his phone.

That's why I am critical.

Are you aware of the above pieces of evidence, Anonymous?

directorblue said...

Gee, anonymous loser: do they test for Robitussin now, schmuck?

Or does the fact that he bought 2 of 3 components of Drank that night -- having admitted abuse of Drank online -- fly over your pointy little head?

Anonymous said...

So this "Lean" stuff wasn't in his system or at least not discovered in toxicology tests. No weed was in his pockets. He had no stuff on him except the Arizona barnd drink and Skiltes. If Martin was so in to this stuff as people say and "maybe" he was going home to make up a batch why would he circle back to attack Zimmerman as they said. All the drug users I have known are looking to get high and fight. So based on experience with drugies I'd say he wasn't high nor was he going home to get high, he was feeling scared by a stalker. Just my guess.

Pastorius said...

To repeat, TOXICOLOGY DOES NOT TEST FOR DXM/ROBITUSSIN.

He did have weed in his system, though it was a small amount.

He may not have been high. He may have been withdrawing, Robitussin is addictive.

We don't know.

I mean, that's pretty simple right?

This is not a court. This is speculation, based upon known facts, admitted by Trayvon via Social Media.

There's another component to all this. The 9000 text messages and thousands of images (that the judge apparently thought someone could have hacked Trayvon's two passwords and forged without his knowledge) furthered the concept of Trayvon as violent gangsta wannabe. There's evidence there of an illegal gun buy and some bragging about winning fights by "punching people in the nose". Also photos of his pot growing.

So from Facebook you got DXM/lean/codeine drug abuse. From text messages, more of the same and bragging about his fighting ability. Add a little chemically-induce aggressiveness and anger to someone whose sense of self-worth is dependent on his ability to beat someone up and you have... Tryvon Martin.

This article has many errors.

DXM has not been proven to cause brain or liver damage in humans.

The wrong type of cough syrup than includes DXM and other medicines for fever within the bottle, aspirin, phenyl-something are the ones that cause liver damage because of those other drugs. It would be the same as overdosing on Tylenol.

DXM isn't ever tested for in drug tests. If consumed in high amounts it may come up as an opiate but further testing would prove that it was not an opiate.

Also, drugs do have different effects on people but DXM causing paranoia is not as likely as marijuana causing it. And trayvon was found to have marijuana in his system so it would be a safe assumption to make that marijuana was the cause of his paranoia/violence. DXM is almost never linked to either paranoia or violence.

You don't need a prescription for cough syrup.

DXM is not dangerous until you consume 1000 mg+. Kids or experienced users do not normally drink 80 or so gel caps or 4 bottles of syrup. Thats $25 in one sitting and is not practical financially or because of the kind of trip.

Here's the dosage that's being discussed,

http://www.walmart.com/ip/17325125?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=21486607510&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=19880599990&veh=sem

The article says longer-term consumption of such a dosage, on a regular baisis, will cause liver damage.

Is that hard for you to believe?

I've known people who abused cough syrup. It is not pretty.

No evidence he used ... **HE SAID SO**
No evidence it is bad????

There is a Crap LOAD of evidence that abusing high amounts of DXM *WILL* cause mood swings, liver damage, psychotic episodes...

Why do you keep blindly defending this kid with statements that completely defy reality. Are YOU on DXM?

He was trained in MMA, either under the influence or going through withdrawals, recently arrested for assult, under investigation for drugs and theft, and constlantly bragged about fighting.

You do not even have ANY idea who you are defending and you sound like a fool.

Always On Watch said...

Eric,
FYI -- in case you haven't seen the video.

this is incredibly stupid. the kid didn't have any cough syrup on him because he was buying some skittles and drink. then he ran into idiot zimmerman. do you know that zimmerman had a full magazine of hollow point bullets and one in the chamber. no safety on his weapon? so george wanted the most dangerous ammo he could get and as much as he could jam into the gun before he went stalking that night. then he ignored the police, ignored his neighborhood watch training and ignored his college professor and went after the kid. the kid started kicking overweight doughboy zimmermans ass so he pulled out his piece and blew a baseball sized hole in trayvons chest. it's manslaughter kids and he just got away with it.

Dxm is not physically addictive, and if he really was addicted to dxm why didn't he buy some robitussin at 7-11? They do sell it, the wrong kinds but travon was mistaking dxm for codeine anyway, dxm and lean are two totally different things I'm sure he tried CODEINE and assumed it was robitussin but its not. And someone show me proof dxm hirts your liver. Not a wiki article saying it in theory. Theres no correlation proven anywhere. The inactive ingredients are worse and that's why some people extract
