EBOLA News 10-16-2014 - The Definition of Insanity ---- UPDATED THROUGHOUT THE DAY

The definition of INSANITY: Repeating the same action over and over again, and expectin different results. - Albert Einstein. . .

Who does this administration think they are fooling? Duncan managed to enter the US with Ebola despite the fever checks...the (insert string of obscene profanity here)CDC gave the second Ebola nurse to travel WITH A FEVER! And yet, today's headlines read:

US Steps up domestic response to Ebola crisis
"Customs and health officials at airports in Chicago, Atlanta, the Washington suburbs and Newark, New Jersey, were scheduled to start taking the temperatures of passengers from the three hardest-hit West African countries Thursday. The screenings, using no-touch thermometers, started Saturday at New York's Kennedy International Airport."
******
HOW THE HELL IS THAT STEPPING UP?!

Then there is this little tidbit in the same article:

Quote: "Frontier has taken the aircraft out of service. The plane was flown Wednesday without passengers from Cleveland to Denver, where the airline said it will undergo a fourth cleaning, including replacement of seat covers, carpeting and air filters."

Yet this administration insists on allowing passengers from the Ebola hot zones of Western Africa - Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea to -
not only board planes,
but change planes during connections,
enter mass transit hubs,
and travel freely within unsuspecting populations regardless of whether they were directly exposed to Ebola, as was Duncan, or not.
If and when these modes of transportation carry an infected passenger, the new standard set by Frontier suggests removal of contaminated vehicle from fleet for complete refab at corp. own expense? How sustainable is that, and for how long?
INSANITY!

Tom Frieden: Too many layers of protection could have upped nurses' Ebola risk

NBCNews headline: 'Conscientious' Ebola Nurse Amber Vinson Stayed Close to Home in Ohio

The fact that she opted to travel out of state, after knowingly exposed to Ebola (whether she knew she was infected or not) from Texas to Ohio blows apart any characterization of 'conscientious' decisions this nurse made.
Pathetic.

USNews: Ebola Travel Ban sought by wave of Congressmen

The trickle becomes a torrent as Boehner and senators join Rep. Grayson's once-lonely request.Sens. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., Bob Corker, R-Tenn., Ted Cruz, R-Texas, John Thune, R-S.D., and Bill Nelson, D-Fla., asked Wednesday for travel bans. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., did so Tuesday. A significant number of House members also have called for travel restrictions.

Frieden said that the 48 people whom officials started monitoring two weeks ago had passed a critical period and were now unlikely to contract the disease. They were more than 14 days into the 21-day maximum incubation period. One of them is Duncan’s fiancée, Louise Troh, 54, who has been under state-ordered quarantine with her 13-year-old son and two other young men. “Right now, we’re OK,” she said in a phone interview from the house where she and the others have been staying, in an undisclosed location. “I’m healthy. Everybody’s fine. God is in control.”

-----
Chief Clinical Officer and Senior Executive Vice President for Texas Health Resources Dr. Daniel Varga was prepared to formally apologize for mistakes made with Duncan’s treatment at Thursday’s U.S. Energy and Commerce Committee’s Congressional hearing in Washington D.C.
In prepared statements released Wednesday night, Dr. Varga is prepared to say, “Unfortunately, in our initial treatment of Mr. Duncan, despite our best intentions and a highly skilled medical team, we made mistakes. We did not correctly diagnose his symptoms as those of Ebola. We are deeply sorry.
Also, in our effort to communicate to the public quickly and transparently, we inadvertently provided some information that was inaccurate and had to be corrected. No doubt that was unsettling to a community that was already concerned and confused, and we have learned from that experience as well.”

Fox8: List of school, business closings announced over Ebola concerns 10/16/2014 12:49PM

Akron school officials announced that Resnik CLC was closed Thursday as a precaution after a student’s mother had contact with Ebola patient Amber Vinson.

Details of their contact were not made available.

The student was in voluntary quarantine along with his/her mother.

The health department did not order the school to close, rather the district made the decision as a precaution.

It will remain closed until Oct. 20.

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio — The PNC Bank processing center in Brecksville will be closed today as a precaution after learning an employee traveled on one of the same planes as the latest Ebola patient the morning after the patient’s flight.

According to PNC spokesperson Marcey Zwibel, the PNC employee is not showing symptoms at this time and is working from home for an extended period of time. No PNC customers are impacted.

The facility is being cleaned today, and could also be closed Friday. All employees will be working from home.

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio — St. Joan of Arc school in Chagrin Falls notified the school community that a teacher’s husband was on the flight with Amber Vinson, the Dallas nurse who was later diagnosed with Ebola.

As a precaution, the teacher was placed on leave for 21 days with pay.

Health experts say symptoms of the virus appear between 2 and 21 days.

Parents were informed to pick up their children Thursday so the school could close and be cleaned by a professional company as a precaution.

SOLON, Ohio — Two Solon schools were closed Thursday as a precaution, after the district learned a Solon Middle School staff member traveled home from Dallas on Frontier Airlines Tuesday on a different flight, but possibly the same aircraft, as Amber Vinson, the 29-year-old Dallas nurse who traveled through Cleveland and was later diagnosed with Ebola.

Solon Middle School and Parkside Elementary School were closed and the buses for the district were sanitized.

School officials said they did not believe students or staff were at risk of contracting the virus, which is spread by direct contact with bodily fluid.
