Barack Obama has no clue about many things.
He has no idea about the motivations of Khamenei, Ping of China, Putin, Erdogan, HAMAS, the Muslim Brotherhood, and on and on.
In foreign affairs he always remains me of an epitaph of LBJ vs Ho Chi Minh, that LBJ always treated Ho as if he were George Meany or John Lewis (militant heads of unions) and when he did not respond the same way, LBJ could not fathom or adjust.
But Obama has confidence in his understanding of the American people and the political dynamics which they respond to.
The amnesty, Iran deal, and Keystone pipeline threats of executive action, all of which I believe is DESIGNED not to trick the R’s into overreacting and impeachment, but it’s purpose is to demonstrate the weakness of this form of govt today, and fertilize the ground for acquiescence to executive power, which Obama believes will fall to progressive ideas in the march of history.
This is a danger to the republic.
Obama is a danger to the Republic.
The Congressional progressive caucus is a danger to the republic and people like Steny Hoyer, Nancy Pelosi and others who vociferously back this amnesty power seizure are danger every bit as much.
Why?
They back the process of unhitching the ideas of the founders from the conduct of governing ourselves, whether they MEAN TO DO THAT or NOT.
If Obama persists in this course, the House may HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE but to act ,and the Senate will have to find 13 democrats more worried about the nation and their children than about the democratic party….just as the democrats found such Republicans in 1974.
Congress should react calmly but VERY FIRMLY and outline to the public the stakes involved.
This is not about amnesty, nor a bad deal with Iran, or about jobs and fossil fuel availability and prices.
It is about the president DESTROYING our form and process of governing ourselves for (in the best case) reasons of expedience, and seizing power FROM OTHER BRANCHES OF THE GOVT because he is personally dissatisfied with the other EQUAL branches.
It is INTOLERABLE.
Watch for the tortuous logic involved in the speech tonight, and listen to liberal Jonathan Turley, who UNDERSTANDS

I STILL do not agree with your idea that Obama doesn't understand Iran and Hamas.
He may not have exactly the same goal, but to the extent that they hate the US he is willing to use them as tools.
I get that Pasto, but he reacts to Iran and HAMAS precisely as he reacts to China and Russia.
The underlying idea is that through a policy of no violence and no confrontation things will get better and their behavior will become normalized.
I have heard this expressed as an ideological way of peace, in 'peace studies' courses, and as a discipline in places like J street meetings. You pay attention ONLY to what your enemy does which is non threatening and ignore the rest.
