Lowell Michigan Police exceed their responsibilty in routine traffic stops

Apparently this story begins some months ago in the mind of one officer who wasn't sure it would work. Began before Ferguson and Staten Island erupted.

Police in Lowell Michigan began pulling people over for very minor traffic violations. Engaged them in conversation. Learned what they or, more importantly, their kids might like for Christmas but, in many cases, would not be able to afford.

The officers were wired and broadcasting back to confederates at a local big box retailer who, with help from the staff at the store, quickly facilitated the purchase and raced (no doubt committing some minor traffic violations of their own) back to the waiting cop, wrapping the gift(s) on the way.

Time from initial stop to surprise -- about 10-15 minutes.

So, while the protestors are protesting the pundits punditing and the lamestream media on both sides of the spectrum waiting to praise or pummel the latest pronouncements from blowhards instigators like Al and Jesse and Louis and Bill and Uncle Barry...

...in at least one piece of Americana the cops are remembering and reminding others that they are not there just to be hardasses but to protect and serve

and instigating some Christmas fun of their own.

Enjoy.

and then there's this from a couple days ago:
