Gowdy knew and did nothing about it.
From Andrew McCarthy at National Review:
In assessing the Benghazi select committee headed up by Chairman Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.), there are two possibilities, and they are not mutually exclusive:
(1) The committee is just a Potemkin probe erected by the Republican establishment to get restive conservatives to pipe down, and
(2) the committee is incompetent.
The panel, of course, was commissioned by the Republican-controlled House to investigate the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2012, attack in which al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists killed Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans — information-management officer Sean Smith and two former Navy SEALs, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, contract employees whose valor saved dozens of lives during the siege.
The select committee’s ten sleepy months of operation have not warranted much attention — except to observe its lethargy. But questions about it arise thanks to the newly erupted Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal.
Mostly, it is one question: Why is the scandal newly erupted?GO READ THE WHOLE THING.

Gowdy knew 6 months ago and kept mum? WTH!
The personal accnt was known about since 2013. Gucifer released emails between hillary and sidney blumenthal. What wasnt know was that hillary exclusively used a personal email accnt and had her own server. It is not clear when the committee was informed and who on the cmtte knew - if any. It might have been known only by staff who failed to see the import of it. I would not rush to judgement against gowdy.
Reliapundit,
I hope that you're right about Gowdy.
If only the staff knew, staff members need to be better trained!
Is there any reason why Andrew McCarthy doesn't like Gowdy? Besides what McCarthy mentioned in his essay, that is.
Mccarthy is unhappy with the lack of speed by gowdy. But gowdy promised at the outset that he would be slow and methodical and not use public hearings because he wants to grill people under oath in private first.
I think gowdys strategy is correct.
going faster and more public sooner would not have changed the election.
I think he will get the bad guys.
Thank you for your take Reliapundit-I agree w/ you--
BTW-Gowdy is one of the few whom I trust --

I believe it's about time we realize there is not much difference between the good and the bad guys. Only one thing is important for these people: stay at the top for as long as they can, stuffing their pockets with as much $$$$ as they can, without any remorse as of the money's source.
Gowdy's narrative here offers a possible and reasonable explanation for this.
