All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.
I was raised on Rock & Roll and classic country. Back in the mid 90s there was an alternative rock radio station in Dallas that played Techno or House every Friday night from Midnight to 4:00 AM ..... and I kinda hated it at first, but I found I kinda liked it with headphones and a couple bowls. ;-)
Shortly afterwards came the Napster / Demonoid free music era and I built my Rock and Country Library to over 30000 songs. Well ..... you know ..... I've listened to them all over and over and over now for years ...... there's very little new stuff in the Rock or country genre I can stomach.
Then a couple years ago ...... back during the smoke filled backroom era .... I cam across an Internet radio Station called "Groove Salad" that played commercial free downtempo ambient such as Thievery Corp, Tosca, Kruder and Dormiester, etc ....... I just found that I could mindlessly enjoy it for hours on end without fatique.
The Downtempo Chill Ambient Genre really brings out the detail in my super badass mancave multi-channel system.
So now I roll in my pickup with 3 USB sticks. One has Rock, one has old counrty, and one has what I consider Ambient ..... a Mix of downtempo Chill, Acoustic Spanish Guitar, and some instrumental modern Jazz ...... and thats the one that stays plugged in the most.
I mean I still cranked the fuck out of some AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and Hank Jr this weekend ...... but know I'm chillin' out to some laid back Amethystium and some Nigel Stanford. It just relaxes me.
I was aware you liked electronic music. I was not aware you considered it your favorite genre.
Surprise to me.
Since MR and I put up all the music, you know what I like.
If I were to pick a favorite music, I guess I would have to say Jazz, post-bop and "World" music Jazz, like Weather Report, Oregon, and Mahavishnu Orchestra or Return to Forever.
I do not like most "World music" which I consider to be homogenized crap.
Obviously, I also like Zeppelin, and Heavy Rock in general.
I also like Punk. And I like a lot of girly sensitive music. LOL
Do you like Paul Van Dyke, Armin Van Buren, etc...? There used to be a commercial-free station based in Muenster, TX that played that flavor. I loved it. I think it was pirate and got shut down.
Whats weird is that I dont really know the artists name or song name of most of the music I listen to today. The Groove Salad app I bluetooth stream through my truck doesn't display that info on the dash screen.
And my Spanish Guitar files are taken from Various artists collections.
I dont think I've never heard of Paul, but I bet I've listened to some of his stuff, and I've heard of Armin .... got some Armin on my hard drive somewhere I think ..... but I couldn't name any of his songs.
Thats kinda the byproduct of ambient electronic stuff...... you're not really concentrating or critically listening to it ...... its basically background groove while your attention is on something else like driving or surfing the web. And thus the hours go by and you haven't had any cause to skip a track, because there was nothing that irritated you enough to pay close attention to it.
Music without lyrics generally has no relavance to the song title anyway ..... they just make up something that sounds cool.
