Is Mike Wallace Insane?

Drudge Report reports on the upcoming Sixty Minutes interview with Iranian President Ahmadinejad (no link available):

PITBULL JOURNALIST GOES SOFT ON IRANIAN MADMAN: 88-year-old CBS journalist says Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a 'reasonable' man on Sean Hannity's ABC radio program...

Points out Ahmadinejad not anti-Jewish... just anti-Zionist state. Says many Jews in Iranian Parliament, in great positions in Iranian life...

Believes Ahmadinejad sincere in his hope for peaceful coexistence between Iran and West... Troubled by comparisons of leader to Hitler...

Marvels at Ahmadinejad's civil engineering degree, 'intellect', 'savvy'...

Asks viewers not to bring 'prejudices' to Sunday night '60 MINUTES' broadcast... Proclaims 'discussion' was sincere and not for propaganda purposes... Developing...

It is true that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad never comes right out and calls for a genocide of "Jews." No. Instead he calls for Israel to be "wiped off the map."

Here are some facts:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a Holocaust denier.

Iran funds Hamas. Hamas' charter calls for "death to the Jews."

Iran also funds Hizbollah. Here are some quotes from Hassan Nasrallah the head of Hizbollah:

"If we searched the entire world for a person more cowardly, despicable, weak and feeble in psyche, mind, ideology and religion, we would not find anyone like the Jew. Notice, I do not say the Israeli" - Hassan Nasrallah

"Anyone who reads the Koran and the holy writings of the monotheistic religions sees what they did to the prophets, and what acts of madness and slaughter the Jews carried out throughout history... Anyone who reads these texts cannot think of co-existence with them, of peace with them, or about accepting their presence, not only in Palestine of 1948 but even in a small village in Palestine, because they are a cancer which is liable to spread again at any moment..." - Hassan Nasrallah

“If they [the Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them world wide.”- Hassan Nasrallah

So, given these facts, how is it that Mike Wallace has come to the conclusion that Ahmadinejad does not hate Jews? How is it he has come to the conclusion that Ahmadinejad is a reasonable man?

Mike Wallace is a disgrace. And, his idiocy has precedence (from Home and Garden Magazine, 1938):

The great dictator, it seems, was quite the interiors wizard: "The colour scheme throughout this bright, airy chalet is light jade green. The Führer is his own decorator, designer and furnisher, as well as architect... [Hitler] has a passion about cut flowers in his home."

And he is seldom alone in his mountain hideaway, as he "delights in the society of brilliant foreigners, especially painters, musicians and singers. As host, he is a droll raconteur... "

ARRGGGHHH!!!

That's all I can think of to say.

Then again, remember Dan Rather's interview with Saddam Hussein.

Well, I think this is worse. Hussein is a minor figure figure on the historical scene compared to what Ahmadinejad is threatening to become.

Is Mike Wallace insane? Back when I was a student, morally lost among the Gnostic academicians, and fighting bouts of depression, I was drawn to an event that the good shrinks of Toronto hosted, featuring famous journalist, Mike Wallace. Mike told the large crowd of his own struggles with depression, of how there were days when he would sit on the edge of his bed and couldn't find the will to put his socks on. But then he told of how the good doctors had helped him, of how he had learned that while he can never conquer his depression, he can learn to live with it, with the help of the good doctors and, if I remember correctly, some drugs.

I have learned that one can in fact overcome depression, and without use of drugs or doctors (not that I am saying there is only one way...). I rather doubt that Mike has overcome his. Depression is a sign that one is not in humble and faithful accord with realities both worldly and transcendent. Mike seems to me much still in the Gnostic fantasy world, out of touch with reality.

Wikipedia clarifies my points: "Mike Wallace (b. May 9, 1918 as Myron Leon Wallace)...Wallace was born in Brookline, Massachusetts to Russian-Jewish parents and went on to graduate from the University of Michigan in 1939 with a bachelor's degree... Wallace suffered from major clinical depression triggered by accusations of libel and a related lawsuit. He has been treated by a psychiatrist and has taken different medications to treat this condition. On his battle with depression, Wallace said:

"At first I couldn't sleep, then I couldn't eat. I felt hopeless and I just couldn't cope… and then I just lost all perspective on things. You know, you become crazy. I had done a story for 60 Minutes on depression previously, but I had no idea that I was now experiencing it. Finally, I collapsed and just went to bed" (Source: CBS Cares interview below).

He revealed on a May 21, 2006 episode of 60 Minutes that he once attempted suicide with an overdose of pills. In recent years, Wallace has gone public with his long-standing fight against depression, testifying for Senate hearings on the topic. He has also been interviewed on the illness on Larry King Live and for various documentaries. Speaking on the issue, he has urged those who suffer depression to seek treatment."

Perhaps the Zoloft is messing with his head?

I think Anonymous' theory makes some sense.
