We Have a Long Way to Go

During WWII and it's immediate aftermath, they didn't call patriots who gave it their all to win the war (and the peace) "nativists," "protectionists," or "ignorant." Those among us, our parents, and grandparents who recognized the evil that was Fascism, Naziism, Communism etc. weren't considered country bumpkins who were just too stupid or ignorant to understand the "nuances" of what was going on. Yet this morning, in the space of less than an hour, that's what people like us are being called. You know, the usual "Attack of the Ad Hominems."

They are using the platitude, "By doing this, the ignorant nativist protectionists will wreak havoc with the economy and diminish our ability to fight terrorism and Iran."

It will quite possibly have an effect on our economy, but it will be transient; we do not need any Muslim country in order to do the right thing when it comes to terrorism and Iran - we need only be free to fight a war like warriors, instead of P.C. sissies.

Anything - a blip in the economy or whatever adaptation to change as a result of (finally) recognizing the reality of our situation - is better than living under the dead hand of Islam.

Yet it is we, who have bothered to take the time to learn about Islam, who are being attacked by the people we used to consider our protectors and spokesmen - people like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Tony Snow, Michael Medved, Walid Phares, Mark Ginsberg, and the many self-appointed "capitalists" on shows on Fox and elsewhere.

We, the people who recognize that the goal of Islam is to establish the Kingdom of Allah on the earth by whatever means necessary, up to and including murder and mayhem if da'wa, taqiyya and kitman don't quite do the job, are being called, in effect, the enemy of the United States.

This is just the beginning of the PC effort to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the matter of the DPW matter. The campaign will continue, with unremitting effort. The drumbeat will grow louder, and eventually, whatever deals have been made in the smoke-filled back rooms of the White House will pacify even the 80% of the Dubai population that regards us as the enemy. It will even cause the "royal" family (i.e. the government) to lay low until the arm twisting, threatening, and bribery have turned things around. They are, apparently, outraged (of course) at this turn of events.

Why is it that Bush stubbornly refuses to see the problem? Well, like Rush et al., he has been infested with P.C., the most effective tool designed by our postmodernist enemy to date, and the means by which we have been made vulnerable to the greatest threat to civilization ever.

Bush, unlike the lesser folk like Rush, Tony, etc., also has another agenda, and that is the "New World Order" he learned from his father, who often spoke publicly of it. If you want to see how our educational system has been steadily eroding the idea of national sovereignty among our children, take a look at this, and be prepared to be horrified.

It explains not only his lack of concern about the danger of having any aspect of control over our ports in the hands of any foreign power, it also explains his lack of concern about border security. Only a globalist proponent of "One World," where the sovereignty of nations, including our own, is reduced in importance and power to that of our individual states, could possibly act in this manner.

There is another influence operating in Bush, and that is his inability to acknowledge that another monotheistic religion could possibly be evil. Islam is very much like Judaism and Christianity because they all believe in one God, right? Of course, he also has the "advantage" of the advice of people like Grover Norquist, rumored to have converted to Islam when he married a Muslima.

We have seen our distinctive institutions like the Supreme Court being eroded; our Constitution is in tatters; even our military uniforms have been altered to resemble those of other nations on the globalist warpath. We have seen our borders disappear, and our ports being prepared for invasion by an enemy that Bush is afraid, unwilling, or too ignorant to name.

But WE know: The enemy is Islam.

There are a very few things we can do to hold back the tide while we gird our loins to fight this thing.

First, we keep on bloggin'; the Blogosphere is the only place left where ideas can be freely exchanged.

Second, begin a very serious program of educating our children about WHY Islam is evil, and WHY we are good. The only way to do an end-run around the globalist efforst of the nihilist postmodernists running the government-controlled school system is parents. If you must have your children in a PC school, be it government or private, then teach them at home. If you possibly can, homeschool them. You may be guaranteed that without your input, they will fall victim to the current campaign to dismember the United States and everything we stand for.

Third, become as vocal and visible as you dare; bumper stickers, buttons, and, how about an adaptation of Dag's idea, wear blue ribbons (instead of scarves)? We need to know how many of us there are; it will give courage to others to "come out of the closet." With 70% of Americans disapproving the notion of the port sell-out, there are a lot of us. And go to meetings such as the one being hosted by People's Truth Forum (for more information, go to peoplestruthforum@lauramansfield.com). As of now, it's scheduled for April 29, in the general vicinity of D.C.

Fourth, we have some time before the next elections; we must begin a vigorous program to find and recruit candidates for office who "get it," and then make sure they win.

Fifth, in the meantime, support existing politicians who want to protect our borders and ports - and frankly, that includes people like Schumer. It doesn't matter what their motives are, at least for the moment. We are experiencing a virtual emergency.

A song in Camelot, referring to the lofty ideals held in that fairy-tale like place, had words that I find poignantly significant, given our situation: ". . .a brief, shining moment. . ."

We can fight this thing and make sure that the epitaph of the history of the United States is not ". . .a brief, shining moment. . ."

Sick of hearing about arab bashing and DPW?

So UAE pulls out in order to sell what they bought at market +70% (WTF?) to an american firm, to avoid getting crushed by the congress in a clear veto override if needed.

That's not the story.

I have noted ths smart wording of the resolution to eliminate UAE (and KSA) from this equation.

However, along with this, and previously almost completely UNREPORTED by a press orgiasticly reporting civil war in Iraq, FISA 'lawlessness' by Bush, incompetence run amok by Bush, Katrina calumnies, lies the story of utter carelessness by CFIUS AND the failure of the press in control of ports by OTHER foreign entities, some of whom we may actually end up in shooting wars with over Taiwan and energy resources.

The Nation is doing some caterwauling over PRIVATE ownership of ports (hey, they are 2 sd's to the left of Lenin, what do you want?...BUT THEY ARE REPORTING it ..as long as a repub is in the WH? Oh I forgot, most dems are actually spineless criminals in the Halliburton grinder), but other than this there's just a lack of headlines.

But those familiar with Hutchison Whampoa's ties to the Chinese military are concerned. "This is a conflict of interest for a non-U.S. company," says Al Santoli, a congressional national-security consultant and director of the Asia Pacific Initiative of the American Foreign Policy Council. Santoli is troubled that Tacoma, Wash., is an initial U.S. port for the program testing.

"The Chinese have been working hard to get into the ports near Seattle. They are among our most vital commercial ports and are home to key U.S. military bases." Those bases are the home port of the USS Carl Vinson aircraft-carrier battle group at Bremerton and a strategic ballistic-missile submarine base in Bangor. "It's a major site for espionage for our rivals and adversaries," he says. "It's absolutely mind-boggling that our national-security leaders would even consider a contract with a company that would at the very least have a questionable national-security status as Hutchison Whampoa."

Sen. Murray defends Hutchison Whampoa's involvement in the pilot program. "They are one of the largest port operators in the world," says Webster. "To ignore Hutchison Whampoa is to ignore some of the largest port facilities in the world that send millions of containers to the United States every year." The company, she says, is not receiving U.S. tax dollars earmarked for the project.

That's not a defense, Sen. Murray it's a description of the critical nature of the problem ..ninny !! But I note you say this about the UAE issue...

"But while we don't yet know enough about what today's announcement means (UAE tranferring ports to US company) , we do know that there are gaping holes in cargo and port security that need to be plugged."

"America can't afford to outsource the security of our ports. The safety of our citizens and the strength of our economy are the most important responsibility of the United States government. And our government must begin to take that responsibility seriously."

Can you put those 2 statements together, except through partisan stupidity?

That's just ONE port, there are MORE.

Dutch court convicts 9 men who belonged to terrorist group

From the AP Wire, via The Washington Times, a very crucial development in the Netherlands:

AMSTERDAM -- Dutch judges convicted nine men yesterday of belonging to a terrorist group, a landmark verdict that concludes promoting a violent version of Islam can itself be an act of terrorism.

The case opens a new way for prosecutors to stop potential terrorists and for the Netherlands to tackle the broader problem of the spread of radicalism among Muslim youth.

Attorneys for the men said they will appeal.

Two men received 15- and 13-year prison terms for attempted murder after a clash with police during their arrest. One received a five-year term for possessing a loaded machine gun. The convicted men, known as the Hofstad Group, included Mohammed Bouyeri, who already is serving a life sentence for the November 2004 murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh.

The rest were sentenced to up to two years in prison. All were found to have spread hate propaganda among their friends and on the Internet, encouraging Muslims to join a holy war against the West.

Geert Wilders, an anti-immigration politician who was threatened by the Hofstad Group, said the ruling didn't go far enough.

"This is a judgment befitting a banana republic: very weak and unacceptable," he said, adding that judges "don't understand the threat posed by Muslim extremism."
Though most sentences were short, the judgment was sweeping.

"Anyone who preaches hate and violence lays the basis for committing crimes directed at instilling fear among the people and destroying Dutch democracy," said Judge Rene Elkerbout, reading the three-judge panel's ruling.

"This is what the suspects contributed to. The court weighs that heavily against them."

The convictions were won on the basis of new anti-terror legislation giving law-enforcement agencies more power to investigate terrorist suspects, including wiretapping, and raising the penalties for terrorism-related crimes.

Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende praised "police and prosecutors for getting a conviction."

"This shows that the new laws we've passed are having an effect," he said at his weekly news briefing. Membership in a terrorist organization was made a crime in a law that took effect in August 2004.

"It's the first time a group has been found to be a criminal organization with a terrorist intent, and the suspects got heavier sentences because of that," said prosecution spokesman Wim de Bruin.

Digna van Boetzelaer, a prosecution spokeswoman, added the decision "will help us in future terrorism cases."

The van Gogh murder shook the Netherlands, once renowned for its peacefulness and tolerance, and led to a wave of violence in which mosques and churches were destroyed in retaliatory attacks.

Bouyeri was found guilty of being a ringleader of the group, but judges could add nothing to his sentence.

Two Dutch Muslims, Ismael Aknikh and Jason Walters, received the heaviest sentences for throwing a hand grenade during their arrest on Nov. 10, 2004, which injured five policemen. Walters, a convert to Islam, is the son of a U.S. soldier and a Dutch mother.

The Interior Ministry says the two are among 150 radical Muslims in the Netherlands capable of carrying out terrorist attacks. It estimates several thousand other youths are sympathetic to militant causes and susceptible to being recruited.
Muslims make up almost 6 percent of the Dutch population.

Prosecutors had argued the Hofstad Group was terrorist in nature because, in its vision of Islam, violence is the ultimate goal.

But the court rejected that reasoning. Drawing conclusions that the prosecutors had never argued, the judges said the group must be considered a terrorist organization because it "incited violence, or spread hate or threats" against non-Muslims.

They cited as an example the message Bouyeri had impaled in Mr. van Gogh's corpse with a knife. It threatened Dutch politicians with death and Western governments with destruction.

Notes to made here include that: it's good that Holland's been taking steps to crack down on Muslim extremists. But it's also a shame that some of the lower-ranking terrorists were just sentenced to two years in prison, because they can still be capable of harm even after being released, even if they're given probation. A sentence of up to twenty years would decidedly be better.

I (Heart) Radical Islam

Yesterday, we got the news that there is a group bringing court cases against the Koran, to prosecute it as hate speech. Initially, this seemed like a good idea to me. After all, the Koran does incite violence against Christians and Jews, and it is used as justification for violence and terrorism against those who are not Muslim.

After having given the issue more thought, I am now questioning whether these prosecutions are a good idea.

At a glance it seems to me that banning books is a typical European belittlement of people. Those who can't distinguish between fact and fantasy are generally mentally ill, and that's not the domain of the state unless such people commit actual crimes. Then we ban the person, not the book. Europeans favor book-banning, being the determinists we elsewhere usually are not.

But what about the Qur'an, it being used as a hate-manual from the start and seemingly having no other purpose? The book, to the democratically minded person, is still just a book. The Qur'an is creepy and Satanic, but it's still paper and ink.

We might want to demand a ban the Qur'an not because it is or isn't hate literature, that being irrelavant, but to piss-off the Muslims really badly.

Or we can be a little smarter than the average European politician, not that hard really, and we can demand that the Qur'an not be banned in Europe. We could turn this to our advantage by demanding that hate speach be allowed, the Qur'an desrving protection.

We could quote it, print it, shout it everywhere, and demand that it be allowed in public regardless. We might well expose the Qur'an as hate speech by demanding that it be protected as hate speech.

We might, as democrats, come to the defence of Muslims and the Qur'an by demanding that Europeans not prosecute this vile rubbish. Muslims can't win this one no matter what they do.


Yes, I think I agree with Dag. I am, after all, the guy who is always doing the "Sometimes You Just Gotta Love Your Enemies" posts, the point of which is, that we are fortunate that our crazy Muslim enemies are always telling us the truth.

If we ban the Koran, then we can not expect the truth to be told about it.

Instead, we ought to be shouting the truth from the rooftops.

In fact, I have had something on my mind recently. See what you guys think of this. I want to create a line of bumperstickers that say things like the following:

I think that seeing the ugly truth of Islam proclaimed on the bumper sticker of the ordinary looking American sitting in the car next to you on the freeway on the Monday morning commute may just wake a few people out of their stupor about the dangers we face.

The UAE--Friend or Foe?

With all the talk in the media and blogosphere about the UAE, and the (apparently aborted) port deal, it's high time that we heard from a blogger that's actually living in the UAE--Avenging Apostate at PI.

'AA' lives in Dubai and is uniquely positioned to be able to report on the actual 'man-on-the-street' mood there. What are the people in the UAE saying about their relations with the US, or with non Moslems in general? Is the UAE a truly reliable ally in the officially-named "war on terror"? President Bush swears up and down on how steadfast and trustworthy the UAE is, and how much the UAE cooperates with the US. Is this cooperation anything more than window dressing?

Best Respond To the Cartoon Intifada

So what would be the greatest response to the cartoon conflict? Iranian media suggest holocaust cartoons. And the answer to that, and the whole conflict, from an Israeli group would be absurd anti-semitic cartoons. Israelies and jews make a contest to draw anti-semitic cartoons:

Eyal Zusman (30), actor and playwrite, and Amitai Sandy (29), graphic artist and publisher of Dimona Comix Publishing, from Tel-Aviv, Israel, have followed the unfolding of the “Muhammad cartoon-gate” events in amazement, until finally they came up with the right answer to all this insanity - and so they announced today the launch of a new anti-Semitic cartoons contest - this time drawn by Jews themselves!

“We’ll show the world we can do the best, sharpest, most offensive Jew hating cartoons ever published!” said Sandy “No Iranian will beat us on our home turf!”

The contest has been announced today on the www.boomka.org website, and the initiators accept submissions of cartoons, caricatures and short comic strips from people all over the world. The deadline is Sunday March 5, and the best works will be displayed in an Exhibition in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Sandy is now in the process of arranging sponsorships of large organizations, and promises lucrative prizes for the winners, including of course the famous Matzo-bread baked with the blood of Christian children.

Koran Prosecuted As Hate Speech In Germany

About two weeks back I had posted on the idea that any person caught advocating for the establishment of Sharia in a Western country is advocating for the overthrow of the state. Sharia is an all-encompassing set of laws. As such it is, in effect, a constitution-like document.

Well, it looks like some Germans have the same kind of idea. In Germany, the Koran is being prosecuted as hate speech anti-thetical to the Constitution:


Koran under legal attack in Germany:

"At the prosecutor's office at Gorch-Forck-Wall 15 in Hamburg, an unusual letter was received Monday morning, containing an indictment filed this weekend. The indictment targeted the Quran, charging that the holy book of the Moslems, according to the accuser, is incompatible with the German constitution. The accuser is "Bundesverband der B_rgerbewegungen (BVB)", which concerns itself with, in its own words, "defending basic rights and freedoms" against Islam....

The indictment has been filed in several states, including Hamburg, Niedersachsen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Bayern and probably more. In several talkshows on German TV, conservative politicians have pointed out that the Quran is incompatible with the German constitution.

The Turkish-born writer Serap Cileli said on January 29 this year that "the Quran must be considered a historic document. It is not compatible with our constitution and Human Rights." Now the alliance wants the matter tried at the courts....

The indictment is against the 200 verses of 114 suras (ED:chapters) of the Quran that are not compatible with the constitution, including demagoguery, incitement to murder, murder and mutilation, war, acceptance of thievery against infidels, meaning all non-Moslems.

Verses are also pointed out where the equal rights of men and women are not upheld and where people of different faiths are oppressed."


This is very good news. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

New Film, "Sorry, Haters"

The site for this new independent film starring Robin Wright Penn is quite an interesting thing to see. The trailer is interesting, but the reviews are what really got me. Apparently this is the story of a white woman in NYC who is so outraged over the arrest of her Muslim taxi driver's brother that she spirals into the belief that terrorism is justified to counter the injustice of this detainment at Gitmo. Keep an eye on this one, folks. I have yet to see the whole roundtable discussion on the site (a quicktime film) hosted by Tim Robbins, but I will finish watching it in a bit. It is not really time for subtle reactions. We must stand as one behind the American people. The people who have fought so bravely for our freedom in the past. They did not wonder how the Europeans could have messed up so much in the 30’ties. They just got here and fought for our freedom.

After yesterdays’ terror we can not do any different than show our solidarity. Jointly in immense sorrow and the bewilderment we will soon have to strike back in appropriate retaliatory measure. That retaliation should represent our norms and values at the highest level. Our western constitutional state in all its articulations will have to state our case.

Moreover, we cannot escape from putting up the barriers to carry out and protect the norms and values of our Western and modern world. A cold war to Islam, the largest threat to world peace, is inevitable. A cold war which we will have to conduct within our own societies.

It must be clear that these terror attacks could never have been possible without the collaboration of vital staff on the airports, from where these suicide planes have left. We are talking about people who are totally bedazzled by their religion and for whom their own lives do not count. Not to mention the lives of other, innocent people. After their "heroic" actions and dead, these distorted spirits will acquire martyrdom and enter paradise with all those willing virgins.

This type of idiocy deserves a massive ideological control. That is the most important task that will await us in the next coming years and will be necessary for all of us living in and wanting to maintain our western way of life. We have to make clear what we stand for, to anyone who lives and works here. We have to make clear what we loathe from depths of our hearts and minds. Only then we are able-bodied, but can we either hold back the weak amongst us from collaboration, to this kind of disgusting actions. Only then we may count on attentive airport staff e.d. that will swiftly intervene in all circumstances.

Resistance is not only in weapons and Intelligence Services, but more specific in a vigilant society that is aware of threats to our way of living and everything that menaces our beliefs. That is what we have learned in a very hard way from this awkward tragedy. It’s time to leave “cultural relativism" and the “get away with us” mentality. We have to leave indifference and our dreadful “hedonism”.

A letter from a reader

I’d like to share with you all this very interesting email I received from a reader recently – we’ll call here Christine to preserve her identity – as a response to my article, Islam: The enemy of democracy and freedom! which appears on FaithFreedom.org.

Hello Mark,

Your view on Islam and the West is very precise. I could not agree with you more. I am married to an Egyptian Muslim. I am, and will always be, a devoted Christian.

One thing is true about MODERATE Muslims...

My husband has never read the Quran. Ask him about Jesus or about Mohammad and he knows very little, only what he has been taught by his parents and his role-playing. I have studied Islam, and have read the Quran and much of the Hadith. It’s extremely alarming. I cannot believe how little we know about this enemy of ours! I think a lot of the people here in the US are brainwashed by President Bush that Islam is a peaceful religion. Little do they now that it is a cult!

I have learned that a Muslim is a solider for Allah and will never believe in our way of life. Yes, any person that believes in the Quran and Hadith, etc., is, or has the potential to be, a terrorist! They come in all sizes, colors and genders! Because they are willing to deceive and lie and cheat, they are the most dangerous of the human species! I care about the world and every day I pray that we open our eyes and stop sucking up to these people. We are pathetic. Is it all for money?

Have we forgotten what humanity is, or how to feel compassion for our fellow brother and sister? Once, I asked my husband a question after 9/11: Could you strap on a bomb to yourself and detonate it? His reply: Only if I had to! Those words stay with me always. I shall never forget the potential of a moderate Muslim to crack.

I believe that the fuss over those cartoons to be a way of educating the West before we will all be having to pray 5 times a day, before our women will be enslaved. Wait till the world religion is Islam! If we do nothing, it will happen. I once read an article by a Muslim politician. He claimed that Muslims are great in number here in the US, and if Muslims had more knowledge of the political system, they could take over the US permanently! He kids us not!

We must inform the public about this impending disaster. I beg my husband to read this Quran of his, which he knows nothing about. So he knows nothing of the evil in it. Only that it’s God’s last word and that Mohammad is the prophet to the world as they understand it.

I do not hate anyone but no-one has the right to take another's life and be the judge and jury. Do we retaliate when our citizens get captured and are beheaded? Is that not permissible because we are less than human? Who made them God, and who gives them this right? One diseased and deranged man called Mohammad. He is the culprit. I know a lot of people, and when I speak to them about Mohammad and Islam, it is always the same: Oh they are not all bad, or terrorists. Wrong! There’s always that potential for the weak-minded just to snap. The imams here in the US have the power to abuse and brainwash that moderate Muslim to spring him into action here in the States, and all around the world. I pray for us, and for them, every day, that they come out of the devil's powers.

The UAE are bin Laden's biggest supporters

More evidence why the UAE should really be outlawed and penalized, and should most definately not be seen as an ally: they're one of the biggest supporters of Al Qaida. In 1994, a survey of Arab countries showed that many Islamists there were bin Laden supporters, with 19 percent in the UAE at the time, and in Jordan, fifty-five percent of Islamists supported bin Laden. Anti-Americanism was at a height of seventy-three percent at the time, and it's quite possible that things could've gotten worse since then.

It's good that the Dubai deal didn't go through, and it looks like their government's abandoned the attempt to take over the ports (link via Jihad Watch), but it would be even better if the UAE were to be boycotted altogether for aiding the enemies of democratic countries. They should not be recognized as allies or friends, and it would be advisable to also withdraw all diplomatic relations with them.

DPW: Capitulation? Or Ruse?

While I slept, some apparently good news came out about the proposed Dubai Ports World takeover deal:

WASHINGTON - Bowing to ferocious opposition in Congress, a Dubai-owned company signaled surrender Thursday in its quest to take over operations at U.S. ports.

“DP World will transfer fully the U.S. operations ... to a United States entity,” the firm’s top executive, H. Edward Bilkey, said in an announcement that capped weeks of controversy.

But Barak of IRIS Blog thinks there's less to this than meets the eye. (Hat tip: Little Green Footballs.)

One article, however, quotes a statement that "we will continue to hold our U.S. operations separate while this process continues." In other words, the Dubai corporation will maintain a separate incorporation status for the American subsidiary. A few comments:

-This is a standard legal fiction for corporations who maintain complete operational control over their foreign subsidiaries. As an Information Technology consultant to many multi-national corporations, I can say with certainty that corporate management has access to the information systems of local subsidiaries.

-Note the key word "continue." This strongly implies that there is no change. In other words, there is no news here.

-While it is possible that the government-owned firm will indeed be forced to sell, it should be noted that all Arab governments routinely lie. Here is this week's biggest example.

It's not time to let up yet. Keep those emails to your Senators and Congressmen coming.

Describe your typical blogging schedule. And what is your average output?

My blogging schedule is nuts and has taken over my life... any free moment for the blog, I blog. Get up, get outta bed, drag a comb across the kid's head. Head 'em up, move 'em out... hit the newspapers and best news sites, check the emails, start writing.

Sometimes I find I have been blogging all night, it's 6 am and so I nod out for a half hour then do the kid thang.

I am so impassioned by it because we are working against a clock, a scary clock. And we have got to get the word to as many people s possible as fast as we can. The world is at war, pretending it to be anything else will be fatal.


I am so much in agreement with Pamela on this, and in fact, my habits are similar to hers, unfortunately. I have developed bags under my eyes, and my excercise regimen has dropped off the charts.

Often I find myself up in the middle of the night worrying about the state of the world, as if I have any control over it.

The sad and glorious thing about blogging is, it gives us little guys a sense of personal responsibility for the world around us. There may be little we can do about it, but we can do a little, and we know that any little bit helps.

"The Whole Facade Of Free Speech Is A Bluff"

Islam, as it is taught by those who adhere to its radical element (which unfortunately, is very sizable), is an anti-freedom philosophy and a form of mental slavery. If you don't believe me, look at the title of this post, and read this article about the reaction of the Muslim Student Association at UCLA, when another student group decides to display the Mohammed cartoons as part of a discussion on free speech:


Addressing the same issue in a different forum, the Muslim Student Association will hold an alternative event the same day, since the group did not want to take part in an event that exposes what they believe are inappropriate depictions of the prophet. ...

Mohamad Ahmad, an MSA member and fourth-year economics and international development studies student, said the group did not want to participate in an event that displayed the offensive cartoons. ...

Members of L.O.G.I.C. asked for MSA’s help in finding professors to argue the other position, though, due to L.O.G.I.C.’s plans to display the cartoons, MSA declined to participate.

The alternative program run by MSA, titled “Freedom of Speech: Can a Right Go Wrong?” will address freedom of speech within the context of the cartoons and explain why Muslims have reacted so strongly. ...

Ahmad said the event does not need to show the cartoons in order to stimulate an intellectual discourse. Ahmad said the concern is not over attacks on the prophet, but rather the humiliation and misrepresentation of Muslims.

“It’s a cheap way to get across an agenda, but I’m not worried about attacks on the prophet because his character speaks and stands for himself,” Ahmad said. ...

Ahmad said other universities, such as UC Irvine and UC San Diego, where certain student groups have been receiving attention by exposing and debating the cartoons, have ulterior motives for hosting these events.

“The whole facade of free speech is a bluff,” Ahmad said, adding he believed the event was a ploy for attention.


Wow, that's some good thinkin' Ahmad. Yes, maybe all of Western Civilization is simply a "ploy for attention."

This is what we're up against, folks. Everyday, in more and more ways, we are being told by Muslims, common everyday Muslims, that our most cherished beliefs are facades, that they are offensive, that we are infidels.

And, you know what? We are telling them the same thing.

I, for one, will admit, right now, that I think these Muslims, who would object to cartoons, are absolutely wrong in their opposition to free speech. And, I will say, that I am against those Muslims who would wrap women in Burqas. I am against the Muslims who preach Jihad, who would call me an infidel, who would want to establish Sharia in my country.

In fact, I will say this as well; I would like for all those Muslims who believe such things to please leave my country. Please, leave the West altogether.

The door is over there. Please leave now.

Northern Cyprus Is Christianrein

Sandro Magister writes today of Cyprus: Portrait of a Christianity Obliterated

ROMA, March 9 2006 – The island of Cyprus was the first destination of the “special mission” that the Holy Spirit entrusted to Paul and Barnabas, according to what is written in the Acts of the Apostles, in chapter 13.

On the island they found a Roman governor, Sergius Paulus, “an intelligent man who wanted to hear the word of God and believed, deeply shaken by the teaching of the Lord.”

But if Paul and Barnabas were to return to Cyprus today, to the northern part of the island, they would find not the Romans as governors, but the Turks.

And instead of a Christianity being born, they would find a dying Christianity, with the churches and monasteries in ruin, or else transformed into stables, hotels, and mosques.

This is documented in a startling report from Luigi Geninazzi, who was sent to Cyprus by “Avvenire,” the newspaper of the Italian bishops’ conference.

From Geninazzi's article, included in Magistro's column:

Europe ends here, in the most beautiful island of the Mediterranean, torn by a wall that splits it in two. Europe ends abruptly along a barrier of barbed wire, cement, and military turrets that splits Cyprus along its entire width and divides Nicosia, a capital wounded in its ancient heart.

For the UN, which guards over it with its blue helmets, it is the “green line.” But here the people continue to call it the “Attila line,” from the name that the Turks gave to the invasion.

The scourge has left its marks. It has struck Cyprus, the site of the most ancient Christian community on European soil, in its artistic, cultural, and religious treasury: stupendous Byzantine and Romanesque churches, imposing monasteries, mosaics and frescoes of inestimable value. It is a heritage that in the northern part of the island, under Turkish occupation, has been sacked, violated, and destroyed.

To realize this it is enough to cross the “Attila line” at the checkpoint of Nicosia, and there you are in the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which greets the visitor with a large banner on which is written a topsy-turvy welcome: “How happy I am to be a Turk!” (a famous phrase of Kemal Ataturk). The nationalist pride of the descendents of the Ottoman empire has also modified the natural countryside, carving the crescent moon and the red star on the side of the Pentadattilos mountains, which dominate the wide plains.

The Turkish flag billows on the façade of the church of Agia Paraskevi, in the once Greek Orthodox village of Angastina. A sign says that work is underway to transform it into a mosque. The bell tower, which no longer bears a cross, is a strange minaret with the loudspeaker of the muezzin fixed upon an archway.

Christodoulos, the young archeologist accompanying me, is visibly shaken: “I was baptized here,” he says in a voice hoarse with emotion. He is one of the 200,000 Greek Cypriot refugees who, thirty years ago, lived in the north of the island and were chased out of their homes.

Christodoulos kneels on the spot where he was once baptized and lights a candle. The Turkish construction workers, squatting in front of the apse for their lunch break, look at him curiously: “Every time I come back to this area, it’s always worse,” he sighs.

We stop at Trachoni, where a jewel of the Renaissance once stood, the church of the Panagia, Our Lady. Now only the walls are left; the interior bears the signs of vandalism that has not spared even the stone altar, the pieces of which have ended up in a hole dug recently to search for who knows what treasure.

Ours is a sad pilgrimage that at every stop adds to one’s outrage and disbelief, a via dolorosa that retraces the places of Christian memory at risk of disappearing. At the village of Peristerona, on the road to Famagosta, the medieval monastery of Saint Anastasia (see photo) is being used as a stable, with the cows chewing their cud amid what remains of the ancient cells. The tombs of the cemetery have been profaned, and the gravestones broken.

Strange that good old secular Turkey would do such a thing, don't you think? Or maybe you won't when you read Geninazzi's attempt to find out why Northern Cyprus' Christian holy places were desecrated:

Huseyn Ozel, a government spokesman for the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, displays great cordiality with the foreign journalist. The destroyed and sacked churches? “There was a war, and bad things happened on both sides,” he explains.

I point out to him that most of the mosques in Greek Cypriot territory have been restored, while his government has authorized the transformation of churches into restaurants and hotels, an insult to the sentiment of believers. “They did this to keep the buildings from falling into ruin, and anyway, these are decisions made by the preceding government, which I do not share,” Ozel counters.

I insist: what do you have to say about the churches that, still today, are being turned into mosques? The Turkish Cypriot functionary spreads his arms wide: “It is an Ottoman custom...”

The observance of "old Ottoman customs" like those is more than reason enough for the E.U. to bar Turkey from membership in the club.

Disproportionate Response Reveals The Real War Is About To Begin

While we watch the spectre of a nuclear Iran dancing on the horizon, we are also being treated to what may seem like a sideshow; the United Arab Emirates is threatening the United States with an economic boycott (including a cutting off of oil), if we don't give them the $6 billion port deal.

This is a completely disproportionate response to what is just one deal among many possible deals.

The UAE is the wealthiest nation per capita in the entire world. They do not need this deal, and yet, they are willing to pull out all the stops if they don't get it. In fact, as of right now, they say they will not even relinquish their hold on the deal, no matter what our duly elected representatives have to say about it:


DUBAI (Reuters) - Dubai Ports is pressing ahead with a takeover that gives it control of six major U.S. ports despite a Congress committee vote to block the deal, sources familiar with the deal said on Thursday.

Government and company officials in the United Arab Emirates declined comment on Wednesday's vote by U.S. lawmakers to block the deal on the grounds that handing the ports over to a Gulf Arab state-owned firm would threaten U.S. national security.

But the sources said the vote had not taken Dubai Ports any closer to relinquishing the six ports at the center of a political firestorm.

"The vote in the House of Representatives has not change anything in that respect. We are not at that point," one Dubai-based source said.

Analysts said the political furor was bound to provoke businesses in the world's biggest oil exporting region, which is an increasingly important source of financing for the huge U.S. current account deficit.

"It's American double standards. Do you think that businesses and governments here won't react and even retaliate?" said Wadah Al Taha of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

Wednesday's 62-2 vote, by the House Appropriations Committee, will be followed next week by another vote by the full House of Representatives. Dubai Ports officials said they were pushing ahead with plans to integrate British ports group P&O which runs the U.S. ports.

A Dubai Ports spokesman said the company would soon announce the de-listing of P&O now that shareholders had approved the $6.8 billion takeover.

The UAE is a close ally of Washington and a frequent port of call for American warships. Concerns are growing that the fallout from the ports row will affect U.S. economic ties with the Gulf.

UAE Economy Minister Sheikha Lubna al-Qassimi said last week the furor could prompt other countries to divert funds away from the United States.

American businesses in the UAE warned on Wednesday that trade worth more than $8 billion between the United States and the United Arab Emirates could be in jeopardy.


People who read CUANAS and this blog may know that I am not opposed to the Dubai port deal, as many of my fellow right-wing bloggers are. However, while I am not against the deal, I can still recognize when a business partner has more invested in a deal than seems reasonable.

If the UAE is willing to declare an economic war on the United States, over a deal they don't need, then that is an indication that they have something else at stake in this port deal.

It could simply be that their Arab egos have been bruised.

Or, they could have had some grand plan thwarted.

I have expected that eventually the Arab world would lock together in step and attempt to hit the West economically. This is the first evidence of that.

Simply put, I have my doubts that this is all about something to UAE wants. Instead, I think it is likely they are upset because they will not be able to fulfill obligations to other Arab nations.

We need to protect our children from programming

A few months ago, Daniel Pipes wrote two articles and a blog entry on converts to Islam, also pointing out that:

"Conversion to Islam substantially increases the probability of a person's involvement in terrorism."

And because it's certainly possible, that's why, as parents, we have to take care of and teach our children why they have to stay far away from Islamists just as much as cult leaders like David Koresh, Scientologists, neo-Nazis, or even Voodoo witch doctors.

Muslim Vote Tips the Balance in Netherlands

Yesterday’s municipal elections in the Netherlands were won by the Left. The Labour Party (PvdA) gained more than 500 town hall seats, an increase of 50 per cent compared with 2002, while the far-left Socialist Party (SP) doubled its number of seats. The Christian-Democrat CDA of Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende and his government coalition partner, the free-market Liberal VVD, suffered heavy losses. Yesterday’s result does not bode well for the Right in next year’s general elections. If the result in 2007 is the same as yesterday’s the PvdA will gain 49 of the 150 parliamentary seats, while the CDA – currently the largest party – will lose 13 of its 44 seats. A government of Labour, the SP and the extreme-left Groen Links (Green Left) Party could replace the current center-right government, leaving the Netherlands with a radical-left coalition similar to that of Norway today.

Today the center-left newspaper De Volkskrant writes that the immigrant vote has tipped the balance in favour of the Left. This should not come as a surprise. All across Europe, immigrants tend to vote for the Left. The Left is perceived to be the welfare state’s Santa Claus. Most of the immigrants who came to Europe during the past decades were attracted by the generous welfare benefits which Western Europe lavishly bestows on the “underprivileged.” Today, owing to their demographic growth, the immigrant vote is increasing as more and more young immigrants reach voting age. In many countries the Left has begun to cater for the immigrants, aware that the immigrants guarantee their power.

According to the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies of the University of Amsterdam 80% of the non-indigenous electorate voted for Labour. This explains why cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Breda and Arnhem succumbed to the Left. 84% of the Turks voted for the PvdA; 81% of the Antillians/Surinamese did likewise. Of the Moroccans 78% voted Labour and 12% voted Green Left.

The center-right VVD, the party of famous Dutch policians such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Frits Bolkestein, received only 1% of the immigrant vote. The CDA got 3%, the SP 5% and Green Left 7%.

According to De Telegraaf, the largest paper in the country, immigrant voters have become a power block.

The effects of the immigrant vote will soon be visible. The Amsterdam borough of De Baarsjes has already decided to remove a white cross which serves as a memorial to the Second World War. The cross is situated not far from the place where a mosque is being built. According to the authorities “Muslims and Jews” take offense at the cross as a war memorial. “We told them that it is a Dutch tradition to refer to the dead with a cross. However, the cross is seen as a reference to Christianity. I can understand this,” the local (Christian-Democrat) councillor, Jan Voetberg, said.

This is good: what the media should have done? Not to report this incidents? And really, what damages more people's image: the deed or the information of that deed? What is an act of desperation? To kill people? To assault embassies? To demonstrate carrying messages saying Behead those who insult Islam?

The character openly hostile and even menacing is clear when it says: "Insults of this seriousness cannot go unpunished, they should have a satisfaction for our calm and benefit".

Very well. And what would be that punish? But it's very important the referrence to a benefit in their comuniqué. But we go on.

The comuniqué also says: "we reserve ourselves any type of mesure we can take against the mediocre interests of the arrogant people whose best contribution to humanity in this moment consists in flooding it with "legal" narcotics and with children pornography".

Really? Those are really the only contributions of the West to Humanity?

The importance of this "outrage" is also underlined with expressions as "the world Muslim community has exerced a growing tolerance even to the most shameless crimes and robs, but it's not going to tolerate any insult to our loving Prophet".

Well, define me "growing tolerance".

Newsflash! The BBC knows Who Was Behind The India Bomb Attack: Militants!

Ok well if you scroll down it does mention Lashkar-e-Toiba which the BBC is in great pains to avoid describe as Islamic. It does say "in the past such attacks have been blamed on Islamic groups, particularly those fighting Indian rule in Kashmir". So from that article I still don't know what Lashkar-e-Toiba's political or religious affiliations are!

Well in this day and age it's politically incorrect to point out Islamic groups as being behind Islamic terror attacks. Especially at the BBC. Of course this is a one off.

I AM SHOWING MY SOLIDARITY WITH THEIR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH.

I would appreciate it if they would do the same, but they are probably just too angry with their parents, and too pussified to stand up for anything truly dangerous.

Dealing With The Jihad In Nashville

The Cartoon Jihad Hits Nashville, the home of the Grand Ole' Opry,:


The Muslim cartoon riots abroad have been nothing if not clarifying for the average American. The sheer anodyne innocuousness of the images juxtaposed against a backdrop of 45 deaths, countless injuries and massive property damage coupled with the intense political pressure being felt by the western world to yield to Muslim blasphemy considerations is revealing to the American people just how wide the gap really is between Islam and the West. Many are quietly concluding that the chasm cannot be bridged, despite all our hopes.

In one typical American city, Nashville, Tennessee, all the local newspapers, including the formerly illustrious Tennessean, made the decision not to print the cartoons, though they ran numerous editorials on the issue. In response, the local chapter of the blue scarf society went to numerous media outlets, taping a copy of the “Treaty of Umar, 2006” to their doors. This was meant as a spoof on the fear, political correctness and indecision that seem to be paralyzing the American media and American policy makers on the issue of Islam.

Monday night a forum was held at Vanderbilt University to discuss the controversy. Present on the panel were John Seigenthaler of the First Amendment Center and former editor and publisher of the Tennessean and former president of the American Society of Newspaper Editors; Professor Tom McCoy from Vanderbilt Law School; Dr. Awadh Binhazim, adjunct professor of Islam at Vanderbilt Divinity School; and Bruce Barry, board president of the Tennessee chapter of the ACLU and a Vanderbilt professor of management and sociology. It was moderated by Gay Welch, Chaplain of the Vanderbilt Divinity School.

There were approximately 75 people in attendance and in addition to the local blue scarf chapter there were others wearing blue scarves. Another thing I noticed, all the people from the community who came out to show concern about this issue were older people. I wonder if they may be the only class of citizens with enough leisure time to read books and gather information for themselves. They all seemed to be well informed. There were also a few Muslim students (I could tell by the headscarves and abayas on the girls) and a smattering of non-Muslim students. One pretty Asian girl pleaded sweetly at the end, “We just need to talk more and kill less and find common ground of understanding.” Ah, to be young again.

Dr. Awadh Binhazim is an associate professor of pathology at Meharry Medical College who specializes in animal models of human diseases. He has special training in retro-viruses and toxicological pathology, although, by the looks of his curriculum vitae, he hasn’t published a scientific paper for the last 5 years. Born in Kenya, he comes to Nashville with a veterinary degree from King Faisal University and an M.S. from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He acquired his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in comparative pathology in 1992.
Dr. Binhazim is also on the board of the Islamic Center of Nashville. The Imam of the Islamic Center of Nashville is Abdulhakim ali Mohamed, upon whose appointment, Binhazin gushed, “We are blessed to have someone of his caliber.” Ali Mohamed has a bachelor’s degree in Sharia (Islamic law) from the Islamic University of Medina and, before coming to Nashville in 1998, he was Imam at the notorious al-Qaeda connected al-Farouq Masjid mosque in Brooklyn. Yes, Nashville is blessed indeed.

Bruce Barry of the ACLU was the first to speak and surprised us all by expressing his absolute dismay that his favorite online magazine, Slate (what else?), had declined to run the cartoons. He laughed at the fact that the editors chose instead to link to a right wing publication for readers to view the cartoons and seemed genuinely puzzled that they took this approach. He read a letter from Muslim leaders in Denmark who were seeking to have the cartoons suppressed and the publishers prosecuted under Danish hate speech law shortly after the cartoons were first published. Then Barry explained that the Danish prosecutor concluded last October that no crime had been committed. He quoted Hirsi Ali in which she expressed the opinion that in Denmark, before the violence began abroad, the cartoon controversy had actually been aiding integration of Danish Muslims, moving integration forward by “300 years.”

... a young man by the name of Eddie Applebaum spoke up. He said he understood why the riots were occurring and was not surprised by it in the least because he had read the hadiths by Bukari and Muslim. Furthermore, he had read many, many statements by Islamic clerics the world over and they all say the same thing: that the Islamic prescription for criticism is death. He then went on to explain how Muhammad had two poets killed, “one male and one female, for making fun of him in their poetry.” Then Mr. Applebaum asked, “Isn’t that true, Mr. Binhazim?”

Binhazim tried to duck the question by trotting out the “poorest of the poor” again, but Applebaum wasn’t about to let him off the hook. “Answer my question, Dr. B., doesn’t your book teach killing the apostate?"

By this point, the audience was captivated; all were breathlessly awaiting the answer, when Mr. Seigenthaler attempted to thwart the uncomfortable silence. "Now, I don't think we need to---ahem, barraba-raba, hack, hack---"

Applebaum: "C'mon, John, let him answer the question! I'm just asking him what his own book says. Dr. B, would you please answer the question."

Binhazim’s attitude of mock boredom changed abruptly as he pushed he himself back in his chair and shouted each word: “Do you read Arabic?!”

Applebaum replied just as forcefully, “No, I don’t.”

Binhazim pressed forward on the attack, “Then everything you have read is utterly worthless! The Koran is written in Arabic.” Then, strangely and I couldn’t help thinking opportunely, applause broke out among the Muslim students as the rest of the infidel panel sat looking at each other obviously puzzled and at a loss for words.

Seigenthaler then addressed Applebaum directly, “Do you think Islam is a violent religion?"
“Yes, I do.”

“Well, I don’t believe that for a minute. I don’t believe Islam is a violent religion at all,” Seigenthaler said as he laughed and nervously patted Binhazim on the shoulder as if to say, I wouldn’t want you to think that I would think ill of you just because you’re Muslim. A civilized response to be sure, and I am also quite certain Mr. Seigenthaler had no clue who Binhazim was or what Binhazim believes about him as an infidel.

“Catholic’s honor, John, I’m telling you the truth,” pleaded Applebaum, and by this time gray heads were nodding in agreement all around the room.

Sensing the moment, the Muslims present were beginning to stand up, preparing to leave, when Gay Welch, in a slightly desperate attempt to regain control of the forum sputtered, “I don’t see what this has to do with the topic at hand…”

Hamas website: Kids, die for Allah

A new, attractive website for children was recently launched on the net. The site features animated figures and stories that young children could easily relate to.

However, unlike ordinary sites catering for children, this particular one is operated by Hamas and its main objective is to advocate suicide and self sacrifice on behalf of Allah.

According to Israel's leading newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the site, whose name means "The Victor," glorifies death and suicide for God.

In one instance, a caption that appears next to a picture of an animated girl throwing stones at IDF soldiers, reads: "Death for Allah is victory, the victory of the glorified heroes whose names will forever remain in the hearts of millions of Muslims across the world."

The animated figure calls on children surfing the web to enter the site and learn about the lives of "shahids" (martyrs) who "died a hero's death," after massacring Jews.

Another section of the site is dedicated to suicide bombers. Each day the site presents the picture and biography of a different "shahid." A special page on "The Victor" focuses on the story of Hamas' "brave shahid" Nazim Jabary, who carried out a suicide bombing aboard a Be'er Sheva bus in 2004, killing 16 people, including children.

And, like every self-respecting site for youngsters, the website also features some catchy songs to entertain surfers: "For the great heroes who killed the Zionist thieves and invaders and died for Allah. These are the heroes our people will treasure in their hearts for eternity, and their names will be spoken by millions of Muslims today and in the future."

Hamas: Picking right up where the Arafish left off.

And for those who excuse propoganda like this as the product of "extremists" and "militants," check out comment #5 in the talkback section of the Ynet article by "Ibrahim" from "Palestine":

For those who travel over the Brooklyn Bridge from the East River Drive, you might have wondered why the road leading to the bridge is called the “Ari Halberstam Ramp.” Twelve years ago, a 16-year-old rabbinical student, Ari Halberstam, was gunned down by an Islamic terrorist inflamed by the rhetoric from his imam in a Brooklyn mosque. The New York Sun remembers Ari but the New York Times, unfortunately, is sympathetic to those who preach the hated in the mosque of Ari’s killer. From the New York Sun:

No sooner had the New York Times launched its series on the Imam of the Islamic Society of Bay Ridge than the phone rang at The New York Sun. It was Devorah Halberstam, the mother of Aaron "Ari" Halberstam, a 16-year-old rabbinical student gunned down on the Brooklyn Bridge on March 1, 1994. She was calling to say that Monday would be the 12th anniversary of the murder of her son and that the mosque the Times was extolling as a seat of peaceable Islam was the place from which Rashid Baz set out on the shooting spree that claimed her son.

The current Imam at the ISBR, Sheik Reda Shata, is described by the Times as “neither a firebrand nor a ready advocate of progressive Islam … He is in many ways a work in progress, mapping his own middle ground between two different worlds … who embrace American freedom and condemn the radicals they feel have tainted their faith.” This is the same man who said the “lion of Palestine has been martyred” when the founder of Hamas was killed by Israel. The article continues to show how little has changed in this mosque ... and the New York Times.

Woman injured in rock-throwing attack near Betar Illit

From Israel National News:

(IsraelNN.com) An Israeli woman was lightly injured this afternoon when Arab attackers threw rocks at her car near Betar Illit, in the Etzion Bloc southeast of Jerusalem. The victim was treated at the scene and then sent for further treatment at a medical facility in the capital.

The attackers apparently escaped detection by security forces.

No, the problem is that the [Ehud Olmert-led] government has shackled the army's influence. Otherwise, I'd say that they would've been able to prevent such attacks more easily.

Congress today will be presented with a new study that documents the Palestinians have inflated their population numbers by over 50 percent and that almost $3 billion in United States taxpayer funds may have been provided as aid to the Palestinians in part based on fraudulent data.

"American tax dollars and other international humanitarian aid have been based on inflated population numbers which have been accepted without question by governments and aid agencies. Our researchers pointed out that money has been spent to help Palestinians who were double-counted, never born or not present in the West Bank and Gaza," Bennet Zimmerman, head of the new study, titled "Arab Population in the West Bank and Gaza," told WND.



Zimmerman led a team of researchers who found Palestinians have inflated their population by close to 1.5 million, in some cases counting people in some cities twice. He was invited to testify today at a House International Relations Subcommittee on the Middle East chaired by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., probing U.S. assistance to the Palestinian Authority.

Since 1994, the United States has reportedly given nearly $1.8 billion in direct aid to the PA and nongovernmental organizations operating in the Palestinian territories, usually delineated through the U.S. Agency for International Development. America has also provided more than $1.1 billion to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which oversees Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank and Gaza, according to State Department records.

U.S. assistance to the Palestinians last year alone reportedly totaled $282 million.

American aid to the PA and Palestinian-related agencies, especially to refugee organizations, is devised largely based on Palestinian population figures, a State Department spokesperson said.

Both the U.S. and Israel have based their information regarding the Palestinian population on numbers provided by the PA's Central Bureau of Statistics, which claims a total population in the West Bank and Gaza of 3.8 million.

But the new study, led by Zimmerman and researchers Roberta Seid and Michael Wise, puts the current Palestinian-Arab population of the West Bank at 1.4 million and Gaza 1.1 million, for a total of 2.4 million.

The study compared the accepted PA data to Palestinian voting records, birth and death records published annually by the PA's Health Ministry, immigration and emigration data from Israel's Border Control, internal migration of Palestinians from the territories into Israel recorded by the Israeli Interior Ministry and others, Israeli Civil Administration population studies, U.N. population surveys, and surveys conducted by the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics and the World Bank.

Zimmerman's team found extreme faults in the methods used by the PA to determine its population, including counting the 230,000 Arab residents of Jerusalem twice and retroactively raising growth and birth rates, which the study contends have been declining.

The PA claims a natural growth rate of 4 to 5 percent per year, among the highest in the world, but Palestinian Ministry of Health records published annually since 1996 contradict the PA's own claims by stating growth rates averaging around 3 percent.

Zimmerman's study documents the PA tampered with its own data, retroactively raising its growth numbers in 2002. The new study shows a steady pattern of growth decline leading to a natural growth rate in 2003 of just 2.6 percent.

The PA has documented rises in Palestinian fertility rates – the number of children per woman – but Zimmerman's study found a dramatic decrease from 7.4 in 1997 to 3.89 in 2003. Palestinian women in the West Bank averaged 4.1 children in 1999 and 3.4 in 2003, and women in Gaza averaged 5 children each in 1999 and 4.7 in 2003.

The PA also projected a net population increase of 1.5 percent per year as a result of immigration from surrounding countries. But Zimmerman's researchers found that except for 1994, when the bulk of the Palestinian leadership and their families entered the territories from Tunis, Palestinian emigration from the area has outweighed immigration by a net negative of about 10,000 per year.

"The U.S. and Europeans have for years accepted entirely exaggerated data," Zimmerman said. "Now Congress has some very tough questions to ask, including how its own State Department and the CIA could have been duped and what do to regarding future aid."

Ros-Lehtinen recently drafted legislation along with Tom Lantos, D-Calif., calling for a halt to U.S. assistance to the PA following Hamas' victory in January's Palestinian elections.

The United States and Israel have been leading an international push to politically and financially isolate the new Hamas government.

The PA has for years depended on U.S. and European aid to pay salaries for its nearly 150,000 employees, totaling about $90 million per month.



While most European countries have expressed support for isolating Hamas, Israeli officials fear substantial cracks in a united international front, particularly following the terror group's visit to Russia last week.

In response to international attempts to isolate his government, Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar claimed last month his terror group doesn't need "satanic" American money.

"Those who built their structure on the basis of the Quran ... cannot budge because of promises from America or a dollar from Europe. I wish America would cut off its aid. We do not need this satanic money," al-Zahar said at a news conference in Cairo.

But al-Zahar took quite a different tone in a WND interview just prior to the Palestinian elections in which he outright lobbied for U.S. money.

"Without any condition we are accepting any money and we are ready to put these figures in the proper way and in a purified manner. Anybody can follow this money, can observe and account, do anything to be sure that we are running our system without corruption," al-Zahar said in response to a question about whether he would accept American aid.

Al-Zahar, whose group has openly funded and carried out over 60 suicide bombings and hundreds of rocket and shooting attacks against Israelis, said he would use American money to build "factories, agriculture and [other] real investments in the Palestinian people."
