On Fanatics and Delusional Minds

Guest Editorial by Edward Cline:

On July 27th a Texas jury found Andrea Yates, who confessed to drowning her five children in a bathtub, not guilty by reason of insanity and possessing a delusional mind.

Two weeks ago, Israel began a retaliatory assault on Lebanon in self-defense against the terrorist organization Hezbollah, which has launched hundreds of rockets into Israel. Its forces also reentered Gaza for the same reason, to cripple Hamas, another terrorist organization, which also was sending rockets into Israel.

Both Israeli incursions were sparked by the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers by terrorists. The scale of destruction wrought by Israel in Lebanon and Gaza is significant. But much of the news media and the press, many politicians in Europe and the U.S., and of course the United Nations, have found Lebanon and the Palestinians not guilty by reason of being victims of Israel’s “disproportionate” military response.

There has been far more sympathetic news coverage of the plight of Lebanese fleeing Israel’s wrath than of the victims of Hezbollah’s rocket attacks (shall we say, “disproportionate” coverage?) The response to Hezbollah’s depredations can be characterized as a frown of embarrassment; the response to Israel’s justified actions, wild-eyed, fist-shaking outrage.

We are to never mind the fact that most Lebanese tolerate the marriage of their “democratic” government and a terrorist organization. Nor are we to place any importance on the fact that most of the Americans evacuated from Lebanon are Shi’ite Muslims holding dual citizenship, and who sympathize, not with Israel, but with Hezbollah.

Nor are we to observe that President Bush, Condoleezza Rice and others are tip-toeing around the knowledge that Hezbollah’s military “might” is sustained and made possible by Iran by way of Syria, and that Hezbollah is a solely-owned paramilitary franchise of Tehran’s.

But, is there an arguable connection between the Yates verdict and the actions of Islamic terrorists?

The American Heritage Dictionary defines delusion as “a false belief held in spite of invalidating evidence, especially as a condition of mental illness.” The Oxford Concise Dictionary defines it as “a form of madness.”

Yates murdered her children to “save them from Satan.” She killed them because she had dreams of each of them falling under the influence of Satan. Presumably, she imagined she was sending them to heaven.

A jihadist of any stripe you care to name murders Westerners, Jews, apostates, and others damned by the Koran because they are said to be under the influence of Satan, in order to send them to hell. If he is a member of Al Quada, Hezbollah or Hamas, and is killed in the process of assaulting the “People of the Book,” or martyrs himself as a suicide bomber, the jihadist expects to go to heaven.

Frankly, I do not see a syllogism’s worth of difference between Yates’s actions and those of any random Islamic terrorist. Yates and the terrorist acted from faith, from an unsupportable belief. From a delusion.

Yates and the jihadist acted “morally,” in conformance with their beliefs. Psychologically, morally, in practice, there is little difference between Yates being consistent with the dictates of her faith, and the jihadist being consistent with his. The difference is in the scale of criminal behavior.

I won’t be the first to say that a belief in a deity, regardless of its name, is a delusion, invalidated by the provable existence of the universe and by the unprovable existence of a deity. Our policy of pursuing “peace at any price” is also a delusion, a belief invalidated by a history of “peace movements” that only have lead to war. (See Thomas Sowell’s excellent article, “Pacifists versus Peace” from July 24th on Capitalism Magazine.) And, about ninety-nine percent of humanity, since it believes in some form of deity, can be said to be governed by a delusion. I leave it to the reader to evaluate the mental health of humanity.

The important point here is that the Texas jury succumbed to the “delusional mind” argument of Yates’s defence. The jury could not deny that the children were murdered, and that Yates murdered them. Nor could it admit that the murders were a moral or rational action.

But even though Yates was a (nominally) rational person, able to function in a civilized society, because she committed the crime while “deluded” -- but at the same time sensed it was wrong to commit the murders -- the jury in effect forgave her, and instead of concluding that she had forfeited her life -- that she was responsible for her actions -- decided to sustain it and commit her to a mental institution, partially exonerating her of the responsibility for her actions.

My rhetorical question is: If we can disregard the “delusional” mind-set of a common holdup artist, who acts on the premise that force is a practical way of living, and sentence him to prison, why should we make an exception for a murderer, any murderer? Shouldn’t the contents of a murderer’s mind be deemed irrelevant, as well? After all, Yates thought that murdering her children was a practical and moral way of saving their souls, just as a holdup artist thinks that force is a way of preserving his life.

The jury, in effect, said that Yates “meant well,” but she went about it in a horrific way. One can only suspect that part of the jury’s consensus was an unwillingness to challenge Yates’s Christian motivation. Questioning her “delusional” motivation would have meant questioning Christian morality itself, all the way down to its root: sacrificing oneself to God. In this instance, they might have concluded that Yates was willing to sacrifice her freedom in order to save her children’s souls.

But, why is a jihadist’s mental state considered less delusional than Yates’s? After all, he, too, acts from his beliefs.

Anyone seen to possess a “delusional mind” can be forgiven horrendous crimes. Irrationality can be tolerated, but rational actions that require “violence” -- such as Israel defending itself, or even one’s own self-defense with a gun against a burglar or rapist -- are regarded as intolerable and “disproportionate.” This is why terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas can be tolerated and even forgiven (they are, say the media and our State Department, “freedom fighters”), but Israel receives not a word of moral approbation.

One could say, to paraphrase President Bush’s assertion that Islam is a “religion of peace” hijacked by fanatics (or “extremists”), that Yates’s Christianity was “hijacked,” as well. He would likely agree with that, if anyone had nerve enough to put it to him. If individuals deny the existence of God, according to Christian dogma, they are likewise condemned to an eternity in hell. Before the Catholic Church’s political power and influence were diluted by the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, the Church pursued heretics and apostates with the same fervor as Islamists do today, with the same consequence: death.

“Fanaticism” is largely a pejorative term, connoting an obsession with consistency or purity. The American Heritage Dictionary defines a fanatic as “a person possessed by an excessive zeal for an uncritical attachment to a cause or position.” Thus, Islamic terrorists who obey the injunctions of the Koran to wage jihad against infidels, are deemed “fanatics” or “extremists.” No judgment is made of Islam itself (nor of Christianity or any other creed).

What is “extremism” but applying a moral code in its purist, most uncompromised, unadulterated form to one’s actions? The “extremism” of altruism is self-destruction. The “extremism” of Christianity is the constant sacrifice of one’s values for lesser or non-values. The “extremism” of Islam is the sacrifice of all to Allah.

If Andrea Yates can be found not guilty of multiple murders by reason of insanity and delusion, what is sanity? Again, the American Heritage Dictionary defines it as “soundness of judgment or reason.” Consistent, conscientious sanity might also be a form of “extremism,” that is, rationality in all things.

It is disgraceful that the West, particularly the U.S., is allowing Israel to fight our true Mideast enemy, Iran, by proxy. Sanity would have us annihilate Iran and Syria (and, for good measure, vaporize North Korea’s nuclear weapons program and its million-man army). But sanity is not the ruling philosophy in politics or morality. Delusional “world opinion” forgives Andrea Yates in a Texas courtroom, just as it forgives the Lebanese for wishing to coexist with killers. It is the delusion of non-responsibility that permits such obscenities.

The Passion Of Mel Gibson

I was one of those who thought The Passion of the Christ was a pretty decent movie. I did not see it as anti-Semitic. However, now we all know that Mel Gibson the man is definately an anti-Semite:

TMZ has learned that Mel Gibson went on a rampage when he was arrested Friday on suspicion of drunk driving, hurling religious epithets. TMZ has also learned that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department had the initial report doctored to keep the real story under wraps.

TMZ has four pages of the original report prepared by the arresting officer in the case, L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy James Mee. According to the report, Gibson became agitated after he was stopped on Pacific Coast Highway and told he was to be detained for drunk driving Friday morning in Malibu.

The actor began swearing uncontrollably. Gibson repeatedly said, "My life is f****d." Law enforcement sources say the deputy, worried that Gibson might become violent, told the actor that he was supposed to cuff him but would not, as long as Gibson cooperated.

As the two stood next to the hood of the patrol car, the deputy asked Gibson to get inside. Deputy Mee then walked over to the passenger door and opened it. The report says Gibson then said, "I'm not going to get in your car," and bolted to his car. The deputy quickly subdued Gibson, cuffed him and put him inside the patrol car.

TMZ has learned that Deputy Mee audiotaped the entire exchange between himself and Gibson, from the time of the traffic stop to the time Gibson was put in the patrol car, and that the tape fully corroborates the written report.

Once inside the car, a source directly connected with the case says Gibson began banging himself against the seat. The report says Gibson told the deputy, "You mother f****r. I'm going to f*** you." The report also says "Gibson almost continually [sic] threatened me saying he 'owns Malibu' and will spend all of his money to 'get even' with me."

The report says Gibson then launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: "F*****g Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"

Deputy Mee then wrote an eight-page report detailing Gibson's rampage and comments. Sources say the sergeant on duty felt it was too "inflammatory." A lieutenant and captain then got involved and calls were made to Sheriff's headquarters. Sources say Mee was told Gibson's comments would incite a lot of "Jewish hatred," that the situation in Israel was "way too inflammatory." It was mentioned several times that Gibson, who wrote, directed, and produced 2004's "The Passion of the Christ," had incited "anti-Jewish sentiment" and "For a drunk driving arrest, is this really worth all that?"

We're told Deputy Mee was then ordered to write another report, leaving out the incendiary comments and conduct. Sources say Deputy Mee was told the sanitized report would eventually end up in the media and that he could write a supplemental report that contained the redacted information -- a report that would be locked in the watch commander's safe.

Yeah, you wouldn't want people to know the truth.

Mel Gibson got one thing right in there. He is fucked.

If you don't think this is a big deal, imagine the outrage that would be expressed had he said these things about blacks, or Muslims.

Good news about Israel's leaders !

Israel's Leaders are the Grandsons of Nazi Killers who Assumed Jewish Identities and Fled to Israel

famousnaziswithtruman.jpg
Hey, it's a new angle, right?
In an article in the English-language edition of the London Arabic-language daily Al-Hayat, columnist and formereditorof the paper Jihad Al-Khazen claims that Israeli political military leaders are actually grandsons of Nazikillers who assumed Jewish identities and fled to Israel.

The following are excerpts from the article: [1]

"Is it Logical for the Survivors of the Holocaust and Their Descendants to Do What the Nazis had Done to Them?"

"Ehud Olmert's government perpetrates definite Nazi practices against the Palestinians and the Lebanese. He is a young Führer, and his generals, like Dan Halutz and Moshe Kaplinsky, are commando generals. The question now is: Is it logical for the survivors of the Holocaust and their descendants to do what the Nazis had done to them?

"There is a psychological explanation for this: the victim impersonates the torturer. However, I have another explanation.

laughing%20chimps.gif
"Historically, six million Jews died in the Holocaust, and 97.5 percent of the Polish Jews were killed in the gas chambers, and by other means. My explanation is that the number of the Jews who were killed might be higher. All the Polish Jews might have been killed, too, and the Nazi political and military leaders might have realized since 1944 that defeat was imminent and, therefore, assumed the identity of Jews and then fled to Palestine as Jews who had survived the Holocaust.

"If this explanation is true, Israel's present political and military leaders are the grandsons of Nazi killers rather than Jews persecuted for centuries at the hands of Western Christendom."

"I know that my explanation may be implausible, but I cannot find any other logical reason for Israel's Nazi-like practices. The phrase 'Israeli Nazism' is exactly an oxymoron, as if we say, for instance, 'Sharon is a man of peace.'"

Courage on display in Quebec, Canada

In the very heart of Quebec, Canada's most shameful and racist province, it's amazing to discover we can still find Good People.

Every week, enemies of the State of Israel assemble in front of the Israeli consulate to protest what they call the "occupation" and to call for the end of the Hebrew State.

B'nai Brith of Montreal organizes a counter rally, across the street.

So, if you believe in Israel, if you feel Jews should be able to live in peace in Quebec, please join us every Friday, from noon to one, corner Peel and Rene-Levesque in Montreal.

How encouraging is it, that after a lifetime of being bombarded with the steadiest of steady streams of jew-hatred and anti-Israel rhetoric, from the provincial government, the mainstream culture as well as the mainstream media, there are still people living in Quebec whose wisdom can tower over the wall of lies, who have clung to the truth, AND who are ready to be seen doing so.
Now that some have come forward, in public, how many others who hold the truth in their hearts, will feel emboldened to do so as well?
If they're establishing themselves at the busy intersection of Peel Street and Rene-Levesque Boulevard, that's a very public presence indeed.

It's cause-and-effect, isn't it: for the solution we need, we must act to bring it to light. We can't sit around waiting for miracles, we must act to bring the miracle to life. Our belief in the righteousness of this cause is the source of our faith in the merits of victory. Our faith in victory is the incentive for our actions, and our actionswill be the trigger to bring about the change we pray for.

If there are readers who are in Montreal, please join them.

Enemy Mine: The Devil Is In the Details

When I set up my blog at The Gathering Storm, I wanted to look at the current struggle between two socio-political ideologies, the free secular democracies and the theocratic Islamic societies, and show not just what they believe about themselves and us – but why.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not defending the Islamist plan for the world domination through Islam. That is a reality, it’s a threat to our civilization and it’s in progress. But it’s useful to take a look at the struggle through their eyes and perhaps in the process, find a way to show the Islamists the error in their logic.

Case in point.

In an article at the Islamic Thinkers Society (ITS) entitled ‘Freedom or Free-dumb: The Shocking Truth’, the author, who remains anonymous, makes the case that freedom as practiced by the secular democracies is a farce, and that in reality, freedom is nothing but uncontrolled license. And he does have a point but his understanding of the challenges of a free society do not necessarily point to his solution. As Charles Krauthammer noted in Townhall.com, one of the reasons Islam is fighting “the great jihad” against America has to do with sexual depravity. The jihadists claim that wherever freedom travels — “especially in America and Europe — it brings sexual license and corruption, decadence and depravity.”

The writer of the ITS article states examples like this.

“In UCLA, two in every three males said they would rape a woman if they knew they would not get caught. Wait, it gets better. When Uncle Sam's not around, some love practicing “freedom” on young children by molesting them. The North American Men's and Boy's Lovers Association (NAMBLA) even encourages molestation, and maybe if they got enough money they could lobby as democracy allows, and legalize it. What also should be noted are the ever-evolving laws under Democracy. Several years ago Homosexuality was prohibited, now it's legal. Once pre-marital sex was an abomination, now it's natural. Perhaps rape and child molestation, now considered horrifying will be legalized one day.”

His reason for these ‘atrocities’ against humanity is this.

“Man, with his limited mind, is incapable of legislating justly. With reactionary laws, democracy is impotent when faced with new and ever occurring problems of society.” He’s supported in his ideas by, a foremost thinker of contemporary political Islam, Sayyid Qutb in the 1950s who maintained that “a deep civilizational crisis of the West' would be resolved by creating an Islamic dominance.”

You know where this going, don’t you? But bear with me.

In a way, his perception of a weak minded response to the moral and ethical challenges to persona and society may hold some water. The far Left, PC correct, relativistic political beliefs has little or no defense against an enemy with absolute values and beliefs driven by a clear distinction between their version of what’s right and what’s wrong.

The far secular Left sees the world in relativistic terms. All people are equal. All societies are equal. All ideas are equal. I’m OK, you’re OK. Everything is shades of grey. There is no black and white. No good or evil - just misunderstood people. To hold the view of relativism means one sees no differences. But if you are unable to comprehend differences, how can you perceive when something will harm you? In the case of Islam, an alien culture that is as different from us as one from Mars. One that is incompatible with a 21st century civilization.

That’s the reason why the political Left can not bring itself to see the threat of Islam. It can’t. If it admitted that Islam is counter to and the direct opposite of a free democracy, the secular Left will have to change it’s basic ideology. That they can’t do unless they undergo a reformation of ideas as Islam has to have a reformation of its beliefs.

But back to the author of the ITS piece. He goes on with the expected rant of how democracy is responsible today for slaughtering millions of muslims, exploiting the world’s resources, etc. etc, etc. But then he comes to the real point.

“So what is freedom you may ask? Freedom is when one stops being a slave to one's desires and to society and becomes a slave and worshipper of Allah. This alternative is a system devoid of error. A system based on a definite belief, which can be established rationally and rules humanity justly. THE ISLAMIC SYSTEM lasted for over thirteen centuries securing peace and justice for the oppressed and humanity in general.”

Or in other words, the same form of governing that the western world threw off their backs hundreds of years ago – a theocratic form of government where the church and state are the same. When the western world was free of the dogmatic, suffocating system of being governed by the ‘representatives’ of God, we advanced and created a civilianization that the world had never seen before where even the poor in the free democracies live better, healthier, and longer than the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Is a secular democracy the perfect form of government with it ongoing cultural warfare waged in the halls of government and media? I’ll let Winston Churchill speak to that when he said, “It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried”.

The devil is in the details – not in the concept.

Finally, the article writer’s defense for an Islamic dominated form of government is at the end of his article.

“Even biased, Western scholars acknowledge that Islam was the most advanced technologically and in providing justice. It eliminated racism, elevated the status of women, removed exploitation, and maintained harmony.”

And it’s the usual disinformation and lies.

I think Bernard Lewis said it best.

“By all standards of the modern world—economic development, literacy, scientific achievement — Muslim civilization, once a mighty enterprise, has fallen low. Many in the Middle East blame a variety of outside forces. But underlying much of the Muslim world's travail may be a simple lack of freedom.”

Galactic stupidity persists..ready for the last war, ALWAYS

We are seeing the tactics of the coming war against the United States from within the Untied States.

How EASY would it be to smuggle speedboats laden with 6 and 9 foot katyushas, 3 to 5 inches across into the USA?

How easy to put them into 1/2 ton pickups with caps and drive them around?

Are we ready? It's one thing for america to be doing research and deployment for missiles such as the BM-25 and Shahab and Taepedong to shoot down a strategic one shot threat. It's another to have demostrated RIGHT IN FRONT OF US, the use of a low trajectory weapon, meant for civilian casualties, firable by morons with a car battery.

We HAVE THE DEFENSE for this. IT SHOULD BE DEPLOYED ASAP

Angry With Israel? Kill Jews!

A Pakistani-American, Muslim, 'revenged' Israel fighting back against Hizbullah yesterday. He went to the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building in downtown Seattle and started shooting.

According to Amy Wasser-Simpson, the vice president for planning and community services for the Jewish Federation, the man had told staff members, "I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at Israel," then began shooting.

One victim died immediately, while three others are in critical condition. Two others will undoubtedly recover.

All victims are women.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, founded in 1926, is an umbrella organization for the local Jewish community. It raises money for Jewish social-welfare organizations, runs youth and adult Jewish educational programs, and engages in efforts in support of Israel. It was a sponsor of the Solidarity with Israel rally Sunday on Mercer Island.

The federation's mission is to ensure Jewish survival and enhance the quality of Jewish life locally, in Israel and worldwide.

Imagine that: a Muslim extremist committing a terrorist attack against women (of them pregnant). The FBI says that it's a single act of lone individual.
Funny how there are thousands of 'craze individuals' from a particular religion.

Does it really matter whether they act alone or not? No, in both cases they commit terrorist attacks based on their 'religion'. Fact is that Muslim extremism, whether organized or individually, is one of the greatest threats facing the West today.
The problem is that we can't simply dismiss it as acts of 'crazy individuals': the source of the problem is much deeper than that.

Note: of course this article is based on the assumption that indeed, the murderer was a Muslim, killing Jews out of hatred towards Israel.

It began with Sayeed el Nosair, and it continues with 6 shot in Seattle .. these people are NOT kooks

UPDATE AT BOTTOM

SEATTLE (AP) -- A man walked into a Jewish organization Friday afternoon and opened fire, killing one woman and injuring at least five others before he was arrested, officials said.

The gunman, who employees said claimed to be a Muslim angry at Israel, forced his way through the security door at the Jewish Federation after an employee had punched in her security code, said Marla Meislin-Dietrich, a co-worker who was not at the building at the time.

Staff members said they overheard him saying "'I am a Muslim American, angry at Israel,' before opening fire on everyone," Meislin-Dietrich said. "He was randomly shooting at everyone."

Their founding document gives them permission to be children with guns, knives, and swords if insutled, offended or put upon?

What's the difference between that and what the 'christian' organization, the KKK taught?

They arrogated to themselves the right to kill and intimidate. So do these morons.

Anyone ...

ANYONE teaching hate like this needs to be in jail or dead

The Stone and the Tree, and Apes and Pigs is teaching hate

Period
The outcome of teaching hate and racism is inevitable
People are accountable

UPDATES: Fox, CNN (domestic USA), and MSNBC are all reporting this as a "gunman" doing the shooting. No mention of a name, or any other identifying terminology.

Help for the Middle-East?

Media in Denmark, Norway and Sweden these days are advertising for Red Cross, Save the Child and similar organisations.
Their ads are very alike “Help the Middle East” they say.
I have been digging for a couple of days, writing to the organisations, reading their ads and their home-pages.
And it’s the same all over. They seem to hide the fact that the aid is for Lebanon only - no aid for Israel.
I wrote to Danish Red Cross, and their answer is: We have contacted Israeli Red Star of David and they don’t need any help.
This I have written to the Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen to get a confirmation.
Another thing is - nobody in Denmark is paying a dime to the the organisations - and they say - “it’s because no danes are involved” or “nobody saw the ads”. Okay its vacation now, but in my opinion it is in danish “thank you for the last time” the danes have not forgotten the burning of ‘Dannebrog’ and the embassies.
I’m following this tightly.

Wait a minute, I thought only jews and americans were responsible for arms races

Iran-backed missile program for Hizbullah stuns Saudis into action

Gertz again... abdul aziz.jpg
After years of hesitation, Saudi Crown Prince Sultan has gone on a weapons shopping spree. Sultan, who is also the kingdom's defense minister, has determined an emerging threat from Iran exists and needs an answer quickly.

Over the past few months, Sultan has sewn up several major deals with Britain, France and the United States. The projects include military platforms, maintenance and lots of training. Unlike the free spending days in the 1970s, Sultan wants to provide the kingdom with indigenous capabilities and technology.

"There are two facets to the Saudi defense procurement," a Western diplomat in the Gulf said. "One is the conventional weaponry that Riyad needs to bolster its military and maintain air superiority and maritime protection in the Arabian Sea. The other is a secret nonconventional program meant to match that of Iran's."

Over the past few weeks, Iran's conventional military threat has stunned Riyad. Like other Gulf Arab countries, Sultan sees the Hizbullah rocket war against Israel as an offensive by Iran. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has equipped, trained and even directed Hizbullah fighters in Lebanon in waging a conflict more fierce than anything since the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.

Sultan has selected the United States as the lead country in helping train and equip Saudi military and security forces. On July 21, the Bush administration approved the sale of more than $6 billion worth of military platforms and equipment to Saudi Arabia, the largest U.S. arms sale to Riyad in more than a decade.

And in this week's "DUH" report we have...

Iran planned extensively for Hizbullah's assault on Israel

No really? c802b.jpg

From Gertz...Sub Req, excerpted

WASHINGTON — Iran spent more than six months training and planning Hizbullah to prepare for its current war with Israel.

Western intelligence sources said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps held a series of exercises with Hizbullah on the use of new weapons and techniques. The sources said IRGC also prepared arsenals of medium-range rockets and missiles in the Bekaa Valley and Syria to sustain any war with Israel.

"Iran's IRGC planned this war carefully throughout 2006," said an intelligence source who monitors Iran. "IRGC sent weapons and hundreds of volunteers through Damascus in a war designed to contain several stages."

Note that if al this is true, it means that far from resembling the outbreak of WW1, this is really about testing weapons and tactics of the enemy -- the Spanish Civil War of 1936

What's Iran's Next Step

With Nasrallah in Damascus, what’s the next move by Iranian-Syrian axis? McQ believes Iran senses Israel’s lack of resolve by the cabinet’s vote of 11 to 1 not to take the war to Syrian soil. Thus, there are no ill consequences for Syria and Iran when they support Nasrallah; he becomes a hero through out the Arab world for standing up to Israel “on his own;” and Iran can plan their next move.

What’s Iran’s next more? Jack Kelly (subscription required) speculates that Iran may have bought a nuke from North Korea. Based more on circumstantial evidence, he sees Bad Jad (Ahmadinejad) proceeding with his millennial vision with August 22 being a significant date in the Shia calendar and also the date “Iran said it would reply” to Western nuclear negotiators.

McQ speculates a more conventional plan for Iran’s next move. In any case, it is clear that the West is letting Iran define the time and place of the next battle of this war.

The Crisis in Mogadishu

It has been a while since my last post and I thought I would update you on the crisis in Mogadishu.

The leader of Somalia's Islamic movement has urged his countrymen to wage a "holy war" against Ethiopia. The call from Sheik Hassan Dahir Aweys, head of the consultative Union of Islamic Courts' Shura, came a day after Ethiopian troops moved into Baidoa, the seat of the UN-backed Somali government. Speaking on the Shabelle radio station on Friday, Aweys said Ethiopia deployed troops to the town 240km northwest of Mogadishu, to bolster what he described as a puppet regime. "They came to protect a government which they set up to advance their interests." He said Abdullahi Yusuf, the president and his longtime rival, has "been a servant of Ethiopia for a long time".

Call to arms

Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, chairman of the executive committee of the Supreme Islamic Council of Somalia, said: "Somalia is under attack and Somalis must defend their country. "Anybody who sides with Ethiopia will be considered a traitor."He was speaking from Mogadishu, the Somali capital, which the Islamists seized from a US-backed alliance of militia commanders last month.

Violation

The Islamists pulled back on Thursday, but the Somali Prime minister, Ali Mohamed Gedi, accused them of plotting to attack his government in violation of a truce and mutual recognition deal. The Ethiopian government continued to deny the presence of any Ethiopian troops in Somalia. A Somali government spokesman said: "This is absolute propaganda from the Islamists. There are no Ethiopian troops in Baidoa. Anybody with the evidence should come forward."

Out of proportion

But a senior Somali government security source said "a few" Ethiopian troops were in Baidoa. He said, however, that they were there to train Somali troops and were not an occupying or protective force. "The media and Mogadishu-based Islamists have blown the matter out of proportion," he said. "No Ethiopian troops are here to occupy Somalia. "As a friendly neighbouring country, they will assist the government to form its own forces."

In another development, a second cargo plane has landed in Mogadishu, fuelling speculation that the Islamists are receiving weapons in violation of a UN arms embargo. The plane is the same one that touched down in Mogadishu on Wednesday and credible sources said that flight originated in Eritrea carrying anti-aircraft guns, uniforms, AK47s and several senior Eritrean officers.

Go Israel !!!

There's an interesting round-up on Volokh including a link to Krauthammer, a must read.

I have a slight criticism of Krauthammer: he notes how Israel restricts itself by moral standards that are strict, indeed, too stringent. We should not completely praise this altruism when Israel should be fighting with all her might--without being hamstrung by Israeli doves or American hand-wringing.

Israel is on the frontlines of this war and she has my complete support. Iran wants this war and will continue to take intolerable measures until there is no reasonable choice but to respond militarily. Now can we all see that it is intolerable to allow Iran to get nuclear weapons?

Winds of War: CGI Dinosaurs & Marginalizing the Jihadists

From The Gathering Storm

Of the tactics available to fight the Islamist jihadists, there is one that we are not making the best use of.

First a little bit of history.

As J.R. Dunn writes in his column at the American Thinker, when informed that the French had agreed to his surrender terms in 1940, Hitler stomped his foot once in triumph, a gesture caught on film. A British propaganda genius re-looped that footage “at the point where the Fuehrer’s stance looked most effeminate” and made it appear as if he was dancing an insane little jig. To this day, most people truly believe that Hitler actually danced that jig.

Dunn asks “The Jihadist should be made to dance at every opportunity.” His point is that using humiliation and satire to marginalize the jihadists would be a prime weapon in the free world’s fight against Islamism.

How? He goes on.

“What is required is a psychological warfare campaign operating against all levels of Jihadi-umma interaction: doctrinal, social, and political. All active Jihadis, from Osama bin Laden on down, must be targeted through all forms of media, constantly and unrelentingly. A perfect example of this is the Zarqawi video, in which the Lion of Anbar was revealed as a schmuck who couldn’t figure out how to fire a machine gun. When he was finally tracked down and killed a few weeks later, his “martyrdom” lacked the expected impact, in large part due to the impression created by that very video.”

He gives other examples.

“Much the same can be done with other Jihadis, no matter where they’re operating. Nor does it matter whether there’s any actual footage – CGI (Computer Generated Animation) as any filmgoer is aware, is capable of near-miracles today. Imagery can be created that cannot be distinguished from real footage without close professional examination. This technology should be taken advantage of. The possibilities are limitless, from OBL putting away the contents of a bottle of Jim Beam to his directly blaspheming the Almighty. Ridicule can be a potent weapon, as was seen in WW II, when the Western Allies sent Spike Jones, the LooneyToons menagerie, and the Three Stooges against the Axis. The Jihadis by their very nature give us a lot of potential material. It’s already been noted how absurd they look. It wouldn’t take much to push this element straight over the edge into slapstick.

The past can be used for ridicule too. Take past pictures of OBL and use them against him.

The Jihadists previous lives are not off limits either. There are numerous photos of ObL in a Beatle cut wearing striped bell-bottoms. They should be given wider circulation, as opposed to the sickening “white sheik” photo that has become the ObL photo of choice for most of the Western media. (What ruins that one is the eyes – cover his lower face next time you see this shot. You will be chilled.) Did Zawahiri leave behind any snapshots? The other goons? Has anybody bothered to look?”

And here’s another use for satire and ridicule. The Islamist fear of women. Dunn writes:

“As is true of all fanatic movements, there’s a convoluted and potentially usefulpsychosexual component in Jihadism. In large part, this is based on fear of women. Said Qutb, salafist theorist and an important influence on much of the Jihadi hierarchy, gave up completely on the West when, while living in the U.S., he was invited to a sock hop. Now, this was in Greeley, Colorado, in 1949, and occurred in the basement of a Protestant church, so we’re not talking Woodstock here. But the horror of it all (Boys and girls, dancing together! To wild jitterbug music! The girls without burqas!) threw Qutb completely. He fled home to Egypt a confirmed bachelor, to pass his late nights creating the philosophy that so well serves the Islamists today. The fact that Jihadi hypermasculinity is a facade (not to mention its near-explicit homoeroticism), will not come as a revelation to most Westerners, but it might be an amusing novelty in the Islamic world. (Consider in this light the news of the sexy lingerie discovered in the ruins of Zarqawi’s final hideout. Fact or disinformation? No doubt very effective, either way.)

Dun says that we should use the technology that the West has created.

“Material created for such campaigns can be distributed via Internet, videotape, DVD, CD, and for that matter, by comic book for more backward areas. The jihadis have utilized all these media in distributing their propaganda, sermons, and lectures. They have, to put it bluntly, been allowed to monopolize them. We have possession and control of one of the most potent vectors of psychological warfare every created – the Internet. And we’re leaving it to be exploited by the enemy. We have to do better than this. We are the midst of a decades-long conflict, one in which over the long run, the military aspects will be strictly secondary. This war will be won on the political and social fronts. There is no sign that this is understood at every level of government. That being the case, it may be a moment for public action. There are plenty of think tanks and foundations devoting themselves to terrorism and the Middle East. Perhaps it’s time that one of them took a more active hand.

Not to mention an army of video bloggers and individuals who post to sites like YouTube.

Yep, it’s time to take off the gloves and get Mickey Mouse, Quadafi Duck, and Goofy into the fight!

Terrorists open up third front

They do this by murdering a Yesha resident, and firing at two policemen circa Jerusalem. From Israel National News:
A third front in the war was opened within Israel on Thursday with the kidnap/murder of a Samaria resident and shooting of two Border Guard policemen at a checkpoint at an entrance to Jerusalem.

Hamas and Hizbullah terrorists in Gaza and Lebanon have urged Arabs in Judea and Samaria to open up the third front. Some Arab citizens in Israel also have called for an all-out war on all fronts against Israel.

The burnt corpse of the resident of the Samarian community of Yakir was discovered in the trunk of his burnt car Thursday evening, several hours after his family reported him missing. He was finally identified early this morning as Dr. Daniel Yaakobi, father of four and grandfather of seven.

The nearly-unrecognizable vehicle was found by reserve soldiers near the village of Abus, east of Kfar Saba and the Arab city of Kalkilyeh, and near the Jewish communities of Karnei Shomron and Emanuel. Yakir, Dr. Yaakobi's hometown, is located just a few kilometers further south. The funeral, which thousands of people are expected to attend, will be held in Petach Tikvah's Segulah cemetery at 12 noon.

Police have concluded he was kidnapped and then murdered. Another resident of Samaria, Eliyahu Asheri of Itamar, was similarly kidnapped and murdered last month. Nearby areas were placed on high alert Thursday night after the body was discovered.

Earlier Thursday evening, an Arab terrorist approached a checkpoint near the Armon HaNatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem and shot two Border Guard policemen, wounding one moderately-to-seriously and the other lightly. The terrorist had surveyed the checkpoint for several days before attacking. One of the wounded officers managed to fire back and killed the attacker.
As usual, it's the refusal of the Olmert/Peretz government to combat terrorism effectively that's led to this.

So yesterday we have 300 people looking for this guy ..and another 300 looking for this picture

Hassan Abbassi, the Other other, bad guy

46 from Iran (??), maybe it's HIM
121 from Europe
89 from the USA
12 from Africa
40 from East Asia abbasi.jpg

Hassan Abbasi has a dream--a helicopter doing an arabesque in cloudy skies to avoid being shot at from the ground. On board are the last of the "fleeing Americans," forced out of the Dar al-Islam (The Abode of Islam) by "the Army of Muhammad." Presented by his friends as "The Dr. Kissinger of Islam," Mr. Abbasi is "professor of strategy" at the Islamic Republic's Revolutionary Guard Corps University and, according to Tehran sources, the principal foreign policy voice in President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's new radical administration. For the past several weeks Mr. Abbasi has been addressing crowds of Guard and Baseej Mustadafin (Mobilization of the Dispossessed) officers in Tehran with a simple theme: The U.S. does not have the stomach for a long conflict and will soon revert to its traditional policy of "running away," leaving Afghanistan and Iraq, indeed the whole of the Middle East, to be reshaped by Iran and its regional allies.

To hear Mr. Abbasi tell it the entire recent history of the U.S. could be narrated with the help of the image of "the last helicopter."

Israel Doing the World's Dirtiest Work

Israel_deadliest_day

In what was Israel's deadliest day, Hizbullah Used Civilians, Mosques in Attack on IDF

Hizbullah refused to allow civilians to leave their village and used mosques in their ambush on IDF soldiers at Bint Jbeil Wednesday. Names of the nine fallen soldiers were released. Morale is high. more

Hezb'Allah jihadis are barbarians. And while the world sits in abject judgment of Israel, tsk tsk tsking - Israel cleans up the international community's abortion. Decades of appeasement and financing of this insane Islamic Jihad movement coming home to roost.

All this polite conversation of a "multi-national peacekeeping force" (what fraking peace?) Bottom line is no one country has volunteered any troops, not one single country. Why? Because they are scared to death. Because they saw what happened to our 241 Marines back in 1982. Because if the Israelis can't cap these jihadis, who can? What could an international keystone cops force accomplish?

The savages use women, children to hide behind. The animals shoot from people's homes while the family still lives there, holding them hostage. That should be the "humanitarian crisis" the U.S. Sec'y of State Condi Rice is referring to when she says, Prevent Humanitarian Crisis in Lebanon. Nonsense. And why are the leftists, Islamists, internationalists, dictating the world dialogue? Humanitarian crisis is not the real issue of the day. The real humanitarian crisis is the thousands of indiscriminately fired katuyshas into civilian cities and towns all over Israel.

And once again Israel has thankless task of cleaning up the rot and sickness that is a pox unto the world. General Halutz is in my prayers.

Hezbollah: Hiding Behind The United Nations

On Hezbollah using human shields:

"The words of a Canadian United Nations observer written just days before he was killed in an Israeli bombing of a UN post in Lebanon are evidence Hezbollah was using the post as a 'shield' to fire rockets into Israel, says a former UN commander in Bosnia.

"Those words, written in an e-mail dated just nine days ago, offer a possible explanation as to why the post -- which according to UN officials was clearly marked and known to Israeli forces -- was hit by Israel on Tuesday night, said retired Maj.-Gen. Lewis MacKenzie yesterday.

"The strike hit the UN observation post in the southern Lebanese village of El Khiam, killing Canadian Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener and three others serving as unarmed UN military observers in the area.

"Just last week, Maj. Hess-von Kruedener wrote an e-mail about his experiences after nine months in the area, words Maj.-Gen. MacKenzie said are an obvious allusion to Hezbollah tactics...."

Lebanese Support Hezbollah

Amit Ghate thinks that the Lebanese are not victims and have brought Israel's counterattack upon themselves for their government's support of Hezbollah. A recent report from Reuters makes this clear "Syria's Lebanese Refuges Remain Defiant:"

Lebanese refugees gather around a small black and white television set at this Syrian summer resort chanting "God is great" every time Hizbollah's station announces Israeli casualties.

Damn them. They left nothing in our neighborhood. They destroyed the school, the local charity, mosque, houses," said Mohammad Sayeed, a resident of Baalbek, a city in the Bekaa Valley famous for its majestic Roman temple.

The Syrian government has already accommodated an estimated 20,000 people in schools, camps and other public buildings.

With admiration for Hizbollah and its charismatic leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah running high, ordinary Syrians have even taken in Lebanese they do not know.

"Nasrallah is the uncrowned Arab king," a leading Syrian businessman said.

"Don't believe the shallow media. This is a historic war. It didn't start two weeks ago. It began when Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982, and even decades before, when the Zionists stole Palestine."

Zeinab Yasmin, who fled from the southern town of Nabatiyeh, said: "Israel has audacity to call Hizbollah terrorist, when it bombed cities, towns and villages. Hizbollah only attacked its soldiers to free our prisoners of war."

Just in case there was any doubt what this war is really about.

Winds of War: The Significance of August 22nd

From The Gathering Storm

Several weeks ago, Iran's Thug-In-Chief, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, responded to the EU’s and Americas proposal to cease Iran’s march towards nuclear weapons. His response?

He said it will come on August 22nd.

There’s been speculation in the bloggospher on the significance of that date. In a recent article at FrontPage Magazine, Robert Spencer, who first wrote about the August 22nd date, talks again about why Ahmadinejad would choose that day to respond to the offer.

“The Western governments had asked Ahmadinejad to reply by June 29; why would Tehran need two extra months? Farid Ghadry, the president of the Reform Party of Syria, has offered a provocative explanation for this delay. He asserts that the Supreme National Security Council of Iran chose the August 22 date “for a very precise reason. August 21, 2006 (Rajab 27, 1427) is known in the Islamic calendar as the Night of the Sira’a and Miira’aj, the night Prophet Mohammed (saas) ascended to heaven from the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on a Bourak (Half animal, half man), while a great light lit-up the night sky, and visited Heaven and Hell also Beit al-Saada and Beit al-Shaqaa (House of Happiness and House of Misery) and then descended back to Mecca.…”

Is Ahmadinejad giving the West a warning?

“And now, according to Ghadry, Ahmadinejad is planning an illumination of the night sky over Jerusalem to rival the one that greeted the Prophet of Islam on his journey. What the Iranian President, he says, is “promising the world by August 22 is the light in the sky over the Aqsa Mosque that took place the night before. That is his answer to the package of incentives the international community offered Iran on June 6.” Certainly a nuclear attack on Jerusalem or even an all-out conventional assault against Israel by Iran would be consistent with Ahmadinejad’s oft-repeated denials of Israel’s right to exist and recent predictions that its demise was at hand. He hinted at the use of nuclear weapons in his phrasing when he said that Israel “pushed the button of its own destruction” by finally retaliating against Hizballah’s relentless rocket barrage from south Lebanon.”

Spencer warns:

“Will he attempt to make good on these threats this year on the anniversary of the Miraj, illuminating the night sky over Jerusalem?

We’ll see. We’ll see.

How to deal with adversity (part 2)

Three months ago I posted about how the Jewish hydroponic farmers expelled from Gaza took only six months to re-create their industry and turn a profit again. I wrote then:
Yes, Jews were forcibly kicked out of their homes, 16 years of their work and livelihoods destroyed, and six months later they are completely back up to speed - without the EU or the UN giving them a dime, without whining constantly to the world about how bad their lot is, without insisting on handouts and resolutions.

How many decades will it take Arabs to learn the same lesson?

Well, now we have hundreds of thousands of Israeli refugees forced out of their homes again, this time by Iranian rockets. Some of them ended up in refugee camps - but these hastily constructed camps have nothing in common with the ones we hear so much about in the Middle East:
"Check her out, she's the most beautiful girl from northern Israel," Ilan Faktor says, practically swooning, his white teeth beaming from his tanned face. He's girl-hunting with his buddies, and the women are everywhere -- all in bikinis and most with long, curly hair. "The best part," Ilan says, "is that they can't run away."

Ilan and his buddies live in a crowded refugee camp set up on the beach in Ashkelon, Israel. All along the street, flags flap in the breeze from the sea. People here seem to love showing off their gym-toned bodies. Tents have been set up everywhere. In one, people practice yoga; next to it others are getting their bodies painted. In another tent Orthodox Jews try to recruit young people. One could easily mistake the place for a nightclub if it weren't for the fact that everyone here has been displaced by a war. Hordes of young people under 25 mill around wearing the same kind of colorful armbands you might see in a hip urban club.

Ilan isn't happy with the color of his armband -- the blue has already faded. Worse yet, blue means he's scheduled for the day's earliest meal-time. Organizers in fact adopted the idea of arm bands from night clubs; here, though, it's a way of arranging staggered mealtimes. In the end that's only difference between this camp at the Israeli beach resort of Ashkelon, just south of Tel Aviv, and an all-inclusive holiday resort.

Make no mistake, though -- it's no holiday resort. It's a refugee camp, in spite of the sun and the sound of waves pounding the beach. Everyone here has fled the rain of Hezbollah rockets that are showering northern Israel. First they came from Nahariya, then Carmiel and later from Haifa and Tiberias. In total, more than 2,600 have converged here. On Monday the camp was expanded, with new tents and toilets being set up on the white sand dunes right next to the sea.

Still, for those fleeing the north, there are worse places to land than Ashkelon. A Russian immigrant generously allowed the camp to be set up on his property; he hired Ilan Faktor to help run it. Normally Faktor works as a rave promoter, and he's brought a lot of those ideas along with him. Live bands play each night, and during the daytime, the thumping base of techno music can be heard along the beach. On Friday, the stars of Israel's "Pop Idol" stopped by. "We have to keep the people entertained," says Faktor.

Now as before all of this was done without a single penny of aid from the UN or the EU, without whining to the world about how horrible life is, and without insisting on handouts and resolutions.

We hear so much about the famed "Arab hospitality" and yet Palestinian Arabs have been rotting in "refugee camps" for decades in their hospitable host countries of Egypt and Syria and Lebanon, not to mention Gaza and the West Bank. What Israel accomplishes in two weeks is completely beyond the abilities of these Arabs, it seems.

Nasrallah thinks he is hurting Israeli morale, but he has no concept of the meaning of the word. He defines morale as the ability to kill and terrorize others, but morale is keeping one's spirits up in times of trouble - and it is something he and his thugs are utterly incapable of.

Once again, one side proves that they are all about creativity and happiness and the other side is all about destruction and inflicting pain. Israelis can rightly feel proud at how they react in the face of terror.

Olmert once again undermines the military

If you're going to just suddenly grind to a halt, you will not be able to properly cleanse the enemy. But in a way, that's exactly what Ehud Olmert and Amir Peretz are doing by not expanding the offensive against the Hezbollah, even if they're calling up more reserve units:
Top Israeli Cabinet ministers on Thursday decided not to expand the country's Lebanon offensive, but ordered the call up of tens of thousands of reserve soldiers to boost the campaign, officials said.

During a meeting of the security Cabinet, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the goals of Israel's 16-day offensive are being met, participants of the meeting said. The ministers said the call up of three additional reserve divisions -- at least 30,000 soldiers -- was meant to refresh troops in Lebanon. But the huge size of the mobilization raised questions about the military's overall strategy.

"The draft is to prepare the force for possible developments as they have been presented to the Cabinet and also to freshen the forces as needed. Using the force will require another approval by the Cabinet," said a statement from prime minister's office after the Cabinet meeting.

Senior military commanders had been pushing for a wider campaign in Lebanon, but Defense Minister Amir Peretz favors limited action, military and government officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss internal deliberations with the press.
Peretz is worthless as a defense minister, but then, you can be sure that Olmert isn't far behind. By slowing down, they're only enabling public opinion to turn against them more.

Storm Track Intimidation: What Part of ‘Freedom of Speech’ Don’t They Understand?

From The Gathering Storm

I wonder when Muslims will tire of beating a dead horse. Muslim groups in Denmark asked a United Nations anti-racism panel Wednesday to examine whether the Danish government's response to cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammad violated an international anti-racism treaty.

Now this is how many months since the big hissy fit Muslims threw over the Motoons and they still don’t get it?

“In letter to the anti-racism committee - a panel of 18 independent experts that oversees global compliance with the 1969 International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination - five cultural and religious institutions claiming to serve "the interests of Arab and Muslim Danes living in Denmark" argued that the government's response to the cartoons violated international law.”

Wake up guys! The government has nothing to do with it. This was a private newspaper exercising their right to free speech - something foreign to the Islamists who would like to see it repealed if tat free speech embarrasses Muslims and Islam.

And yet, they Muslims seem to have no problem exercising free speech when it advancing their agenda and criticizing dhimmis.

“The U.S. debut of the popular but controversial Turkish action movie "Valley of Wolves: Iraq," starring Billy Zane and Gary Busey, will be among the screenings Saturday during the Muslim Film Festival at the Naz 8 Cinema. Critics say the film — at $10 million the most expensive ever made in Turkey — villifies the United States, showing American soldiers in Iraq killing a little boy in front of his mother and randomly gunning down dozens of other people. Zane plays a CIA officer and self-professed "peacekeeper sent by God," and Busey is cast as a Jewish American at Abu Ghraib prison who harvests human organs to sell to rich people in New York, London and Tel Aviv.”

By the way, the film has broken box office records in Turkey. Turkey is being considered for EU membership. I wonder what the EU would do to a member country that showed such prejudiced and bigoted lies towards America. I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Idol worship of terrorism in South America

As hard as it may be to believe, terrorist worship exists in Brazil, to the chilling point of erecting a statue of Yasir Arafat in a small town there. The details of this can be found on this page from Shunpiking, the Discovery Magazine:
SAO PAULO (31 December 2004) AP -- THE NEW YEAR'S EVE celebrations in the small community of Paraiba do Sul will honour a figure the town's mayor says hasn't been honoured anywhere else in the West -- the late Yasser Arafat.

Moments before the clock rings in 2005, a fireworks and light show will serve as a backdrop to the unveiling of a life-sized statue of the Palestinian leader holding the traditional symbol of peace, the olive branch.

The 5-foot, 7-inch bronze statue will be part of an open-air memorial that includes a marble map of Palestine and a replica of the Palestinian flag, also in marble, Paraiba do Sul Mayor Rogerio Onofre said.

"It is the first time a memorial in Arafat's honour has been built in the Western world," Onofre said.
Tragically so. As some know, many parts of South America have very big problems with crime, anti-Americanism, racism, drug dealing, hostility to free market trade, and kidnappings for ransom in Brazil itself if they think you're rich. And now, we know that those problems have inflated and morphed to the point of worshiping terrorists.

The worst part about some of this is that South America may be neglected on the concern list of most experts who're trying to stop these kinds of tyrannies. This shows that South America most certainly needs to rate as a major concern to anyone who wants to stop terrorism, because it not only dwells on the lower end of the American continent (the Hezbollah's been operating there for quite some time now), it's got supporters as well. A very good reason why one shouldn't let South America slip beneath the radar.

The flaccid outlines of a comic book adaptation of the 9-11 commission report

It's all part of the showbiz industry's refusal to live in reality. The Washington Post recently reported about "The 9/11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation", which is supposedly a straightforward telling of the 9-11 commission report in comic book format. However, as a letter writer to the WaPo told them on July 25:
As a pilot for American Airlines who captained Flight 77 on Sept. 8, 2001, and who attended five memorial services in the aftermath of the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil, I am outraged by the attempt to depict the horrific events of Sept. 11 in a comic book format ["The Bold Outlines of a Plot; Adapted as a Comic Book, the 9/11 Commission Report Hits Home Anew," Style, July 16].

How anyone can portray the following excerpt found on Page 9 of the Sept. 11 commission's report as a "soft, translucent tan mood" is inconceivable: "The hijacker pilot then advanced the throttles to maximum power and dove toward the Pentagon." Even more disturbing were the narratives appearing in this comic book; its casting of the individuals carrying out these evil acts as "newcomers" and "Hamburg pilots," not terrorists, is unconscionable.

Additionally, these terrorists didn't "settle in the United States," they infiltrated it. While shielding children from the details of this horrific tragedy is appropriate, telling the rest of society about it in a comic book isn't.
This could also serve as a good point to make about marketing comics to anyone, no matter what age they are: propaganda and filthy lies are something that NOONE should have to have foisted upon them. And while I can't remember exactly who it was who said the following, "Without knowledge, there is no defense."

Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colon, the veterans who worked on this book, should be ashamed of themselves for whitewashing the whole subject. Did they even consult with the relatives and friends of the victims of the tragedy on 9-11?

People like these can/will tell you that they're trying to avoid "offending" anyone. Problem is that it usually includes even the criminals who carried out these vile crimes, ditto their followers, as was the case involving Spielberg's Munich, and we all saw how well that did in the end. Just what do these phonies expect to accomplish by not giving an honest description of the scum and what they are, which is a gang of Islamic terrorists? Simply put, only if they're willing to understand that, in order to put together a successful storyboard, they'll have to run the risk of offending, will they be able to impress upon the audience. That's exactly why United 93 (which interestingly enough, is mentioned in the WaPo report) worked as well as it did, because it was honest about who and what the criminals who hijacked Flight 93 in my native Pennsylvania, and even in its efforts to figure out how the passengers heroically fought back against the hijackers and prevented them from making a third suicide strike in the Pittburgh area. If Colon and Jacobson are going to be as dishonest as they apparently are, then all they've done is to mark themselves as cowards.

It really makes me sick thinking about any and all of the people who could get tricked into reading this propaganda and get the wrong impressions of what went on during 9-11. I think that a television interview with Colon, Jacobson and company is in order here. Repeat after me: "televised debate, televised debate, televised debate, televised debate..."

In Syria, The Atmosphere of Eve of War

A Syrian reporter on the situation in Syria.
"The atmosphere in Syria is in every way an atmosphere of war, or at least of the eve of war. Syrian television for the first time since the '80's has started broadcasting Syrian military marches and nationalistic songs. There is not difference between Syrian television broadcasts and Al-Manar broadcasts of the Hizbullah. The broadcasts are in preparation for war, as if Syria is involved in this war, or is going to be involved at any moment. The local newspapers and the television are conducting themselves as if they are preparing the Syrian public for war."

[snip]

"In Syria, it is customary in homes, businesses, and shops to hang pictures of the president's family. A picture of the late president Hafez Assad in the center, to the left a picture of the current president, Dr. Bashar, and to the right a picture of the slain son Bassal, the president's brother, whom the Syrian people loved very much.

"But today, especially since the outbreak of fighting, the phenomenon gaining momentum is to swap the picture of the beloved Bassal with a picture of Hassan Nasrallah. This is to express how much we in Syria love and appreciate what Nasrallah has done for the Arab nation. Not for a specific community, not for his country, but for the entire Arab nation."

The Child Molester as Kindergarden Teacher

"The Israelis did not start the war." "That does not matter."

German peace force in Africa. (Photo: AFP)

Since last Monday, Germany is making noises that they might consider sending troops to Lebanon as part of a multinational U.N. force if certain conditions were met.

Several European Union countries are ready to contribute to a peace force but problems remain about ensuring it can fulfil its mission, according to EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana on Monday.

German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung said if both sides in the conflict and the international community requested German participation, it would be difficult for Berlin to decline. "We could not refuse a peace mission of this nature if these conditions were met and if requests were directed to us," Jung told German television station N24.

Of course it would and of I bet my arse they couldn't. It's the convicted-child-molestor-craving-a-job-as-kindegarten-teacher-syndrome all over again.

Storm Track Intimidation: CAIR Shows It’s True Colors

From The Gathering Storm

The Council or Islamic and American Relations – yes, that bastion of tolerance and protector of Islamic moderation – was instrumental for getting a DePaul Professor suspended for “offending Muslims”.

“In an interview with Walking Eagle Productions, a documentary film company covering the DePaul controversy, Klocek said that he was suspended by DePaul administration and ultimately lost his position and teaching benefits after engaging in an out-of-class argument with pro-Palestinian students at a student activities fair on campus.

What was his horrible offense? He voiced his opinion.

“CAIR and Muslim student groups told University officials that Klocek offended Muslim students when discussing Christian interests in Israel, disputing that Israeli treatment of Palestinians was akin to the Nazi treatment of the Jews and then terminating the discussion when it appeared that the students were more interested in Israel-bashing than discussing the issues. After engaging in heated discussion with two Muslim student groups at a Student Involvement Fair on DePaul’s campus, the student groups Students for Justice in Palestine (SPJ) and United Muslims Moving Ahead (UMMA) went to the administration to call for Klocek’s firing. Both groups were backed by CAIR's Chicago office, and other local Muslim advocate groups, some of whom called for even harsher punishment.

His beheading perhaps? Tolerance is to be upheld according to CAIR, unless someone disagrees with the Islamist position.

In case anyone familiar with The Islam Comic Book hasn't noticed yet, the website is back online with a music recording included, and there's news that a new comic is in the works too. I'm certainly glad to see they didn't let those cannibals scare them. Bravo, infidels!

Pro Hezbollah Marches in Malaysia

In this photo taken yesterday, a bunch of young punks from the Malaysian Islamist group 'UMNO' hold yet another anti-Kafir protest slash US & Israeli flag roast. In case you can't read it, the wanna-be jihadist's sign reads "We hate Bush, we hate Israel."

Friday has now emerged as the weekly International Islamic Day of Rage, so naturally, more pro-Hezbollah marches are scheduled in Malaysia for tomorrow.

The incredibly arrogant fallacy that something we do controls/inspires radical Islam

Reading July 25th's Arnaud de Borchgrave's column reveals the entire tottering structure of american intelligence, and diplays why it's manifest failures have occured.

De Borchgrave, who is certainly no anti american, certainly IS a 'realpolitik' believer. He reveals the intelligence structure of west is entirely stuck in this mode.

This posits among other things, that we can affect what others do as if they are locked in a zero sum game and have no plans of their own outside the rules. This entire moribund outlook failed since 1979 to reveal any of the worldshaking events that altered strategic reality.

Khomeini 1979
Afghanistan Jihadism 80's
Fall of the USSR 1989

To name just a few.

The article in question here has a thesis which runs something like this ..if Hizballah has more influence after this set of events, they win, we lose, and Israel should have pursued some other course than warfare.

This is a delusionary belief than microfine adjustments by the 'west' prevent more recruitment to racist theological asbolutist aggressive imperialism for allah (ie murder in larger and larger numbers).

Arnaud... nothing we do will overcome the armed dawa forces short of KILLING THEM, since their belief makes it compulsory to do away with us. This fantasy that thru some tactic of ours, we can overcome a quranic STRATEGY is a loser which will cost many lives.

Today's flash headline from the Hojatieh ! News news news!

Israel has exploited Hizbullah's humanitarianism

Mohsen Rezai, Iranian Expediency Council Secretary and Former Commander of Iran Revolutionary Guards:
If Hizbullah's Patience Runs Out There Will Be Chaos in Tel Aviv
Ms. Rice Should Be Tried as First Female War Criminal
The Legal Experts of the Islamic World Should Prepare Some Kind of Legal Action Against Her eyes_of_iran2.jpg
Where would we be without MEMRI?
The following are excerpts from an interview with Iranian Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezai, which aired on the Iranian News Channel (IRINN) on July 25, 2006. Deploying NATO in Lebanon is Occupation; NATO is an Army That Attacks and Conquers

Mohsen Rezai: "Israel and America want NATO to be deployed [in South Lebanon]. NATO is, in fact, a military force. Deploying NATO means the occupation of Lebanon, this time not by Israel, but by Israel's partner. If NATO is deployed in South Lebanon, it will be an explicit and clear occupation, albeit with a diplomatic tone and language, and a peaceful appearance. In fact, it is a type of occupation. After all, NATO is not a peacekeeping force. NATO is an army. It is the kind of army that attacks and conquers. It is an interested party in this matter. It faces Syria, and it has problems with China and the Islamic world. Therefore, NATO is different from the U.N. forces and the Lebanese army."

[...]

"Can they drive Hizbullah north beyond the Litani River, deploy NATO forces there, and then ask... Disarm Hizbullah? Who would dare? Who has the power to disarm Hizbullah? Today Lebanon is in the hands of Hizbullah. The security of Lebanon - even the security of the streets and alleys in Lebanon - is run by Hizbullah. The border and the sea are in the hands of Hizbullah."

[...]

"If Hizbullah's Patience Runs Out... The War Will Change Dramatically... There Will Be Chaos in Tel Aviv"

Mohsen Rezai: "If Hizbullah's patience runs out and it enters a new phase, the war will change dramatically. First of all, there will be chaos in Tel Aviv, as well as in many cities between Haifa and Tel Aviv. There are atomic and chemical arsenals right between Haifa and Tel Aviv, and there might be problems there. An unexpected situation might develop. So far, Hizbullah has demonstrated manliness, restraint, and humanitarianism. But as of yesterday, they began attacking the towns and villages south of the Litani like madmen, and I don't know what will happen in the days to come."

[...]

Interviewer: "So if they push Hizbullah to the Litani, Haifa may still get hit?"

Mohsen Rezai: "Haifa goes without saying..."

Interviewer: "Tel Aviv as well?"

Jihadists Murder Thai Teacher In Front Of Students

Thai plainclothes forensic officers examine a classroom where a suspected Muslim insurgent shot to death a primary school teacher in Narathiwat province, southern Thailand, Monday, July 24, 2006. The gunman disguised himself in a student uniform, entered the fourth grade classroom and killed Prasarn Martchu, a 46-year-old Buddhist teacher while he was teaching, before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle with a getaway driver. Narathiwat is one of three Muslim-majority provinces in southern Thailand that have been gripped by sectarian violence since 2004. More than 1,500 people have died in the violence, blame on separatist insurgents. (AP Photo/Sumeth Parnpetch)
Don't tell me, the Buddhist invaders stole the indigenous Thai Muslims land and the "insurgents" [terrorists!!!] are simply trying to get their livelihoods back.

DEATHS IN LEBANON OF U.N. OBSERVERS COULD TURN WAR

ANNAN ACCUSES ISRAEL OF DELIBERATE ATTACK

By BENNY AVNI Staff Reporter of the Sun

UNITED NATIONS — In a development that could prove a turning point in Israel’s war to rid its northern border of Hezbollah, the United Nations yesterday suffered casualties in the fighting, and Secretary-General Annan immediately accused the Israeli Defense Force of a “deliberate targeting” of four blue-helmeted U.N. observers.

Military sources said the incident occurred during an air and artillery attack near Khiyam,at the eastern region of southern Lebanon, where the IDF was preparing a large ground assault meant to create a Hezbollah-free buffer zone on the area north of Israel’s border. Four members of the United Nations’s interim force in Lebanon, identified as being from Canada, Austria, China, and Finland, were killed.

“I am shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting by Israeli Defense Forces of a U.N. observer post in southern Lebanon,” Mr. Annan said yesterday in a late-night statement released in Rome, where he is attending a meeting of top players steering attempts to find solutions in the Lebanon war.

Citing no Israeli motivation for the alleged “deliberate” attack, Mr. Annan called on Israel to “conduct a full investigation.”

aahhhh, but the facts.....
