And what's the Iranian Response?

In the last week Iran was faced with a choice.

We had GWB and Gates and Cheney banging sabres, while Condi said they would meet anywhere anytime to talk to Iran SO LONG as they stopped refining U238 to U235.

In response they announced they are installing this week, 3000 P-2 centrifuges, went to Venezuela, Nicaragua and Ecuador where they announced :

"This is just a prelude of what we will do"

and finally instead of saying...'take your pix there's nothing to hide'.....

Iran shoots down U.S. spy drone


TEHRAN, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Iranian troops have shot down a U.S. pilotless spy plane recently, an Iranian lawmaker announced on Tuesday as the Islamic Republic was facing increasing military pressure from its arch rival -- the United States.

The aircraft was brought down when it was trying to cross the borders "during the last few days," Seyed Nezam Mola Hoveizeh, a member of the parliament, was quoted by the local Fars News Agency as saying.

The lawmaker gave no exact date of the shooting-down or any other details about the incident, but he said that "the United States sent such spy drones to the region every now and then."

In October 1962 when faced with 2 contradictory messages from the Khrushchev over the fate of Cuba, one of which was conciliatory and the other of which lead to war, JFK chose wisely, and steered a path to victory without slaughter. This does not seem to be the desire or method of the Hojatieh dominated Iranians.

What is it they want?
Do they want what other regional powers want throughout history, or something else?

If the former then they can be deterred and contained in the conventional manner, if the latter...

Yes, tensions are heating up. This will be the next big one, that is for sure. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of Iranian "crack troops" begging for mercy to stop the bombings, and kissing of hands.
