A DIMINISHED OBAMA KISSES CLINTON'S RING

Ok, Bill Clinton did not follow in the footsteps of Pope Gregory VII and make Barak Obama stand three days barefoot in the snow before agreeing to see him. But He did make him follow in the footsteps of Emperor Henry the Fourth and come to his Harlem office. And the publicity surrounding the meeting emphasized who needed whom.

Obama was watching the presidency slipping from his ambitious fingers, listened to pundits blaming him for dissing the Clintons and broke just like Henry the Fourth.

You see, Henry the Fourth, like Obama, tried to diminish Pope Gregory's power by taking away his right to appoint church officials. The Pope responded by excommunicating him and moving to Canossa. Fearing underling (voter) rebellion, Henry went to Canossa to beg the forgiveness of the man whose wings he tried to clip. Hence, "To 'go to Canossa' is an expression to describe doing penance, often with the connotation that it is unwilling or coerced.

Of course, the Pope wanted more than just to show the world who's the boss and our Russian "friends" assume as as much. The headline in Moscow Times reads Is Hillary Clinton the new U.S. Secretary of State?

Is that the price Obama agreed to pay Clinton for his services?

It should be noted that the "peace" between the German Emperor and the Pope did not last and it is doubtful that the future of the Clinton/Obama cease fire will be any different.

More importantly, when sanctimonious Charlie Gibson asked Sarah Pelin whether she hesitated when asked to be John McCain's running mate, she said no and explained:

PALIN: I -- I answered him yes because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink, you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can't blink.
So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate.

Good. Let's hope that John McCain whom the world knows does not blink will be our next president and she will be our next Vice President. For the whole watching world has just seen how very easy it is to make Barack Obama blink and then some more.
