The Musical Motivation of the Free World

I don't know about you, but one of the things that strengthens my determination and motivation is music. Certain songs just do it for me. I've collected them over the years. One of the songs I've just started listening to is The Champion In Me by 3 Doors Down. It must have been written for Olympic athletes. The two parts of the lyrics that get me the most are these:

You said that mountain's too high
You said that ocean's too wide
I've heard all new beginnings started with an end

When the others cower
I'm in my finest hour

I was wondering what songs you listen to that motivate you, make you feel strength and determination overwhelming forces seem arrayed against you. Strict Muslims do not allow music. They get their motivation listening to hate speeches.

Powerful, uplifting music is so much better. This is how we do it in the free world.

Another one of my favorites is Till I Collapse by Eminem. I don't even like rap, but I read what Michael Phelps listened to before a race during the 2004 Olympics and this was one of them. I love the intro:

'Cause sometimes you feel tired, feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up. But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength and just pull that shit out of you and get that motivation to not give up and not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.

I also like the chorus:

Till the roof comes off, till the lights go out
Till my legs give out, can’t shut my mouth.

Appropriate for us Defenders of Freedom.
