The mystery of what Jörg Haider did in the time left between his last appointment and hitting the concrete in a Klagenfurt suburb seems to be solved. Nobody denies anymore that he spent his last hours, and acquired that considerable level of alcohol, at a Klagenfurt "gay" bar he, so it seems, used to frequent, and that he had a somewhat special relationship to young Stefan Petzner, his party deputy, who had all the time since Haider's death rather behaved like a widower than like a political friend and ally.
I admit that I felt some vague Schadenfreude when it became known that Haider, this upright paragon of law-and-order virtues, had become the victim of his own anti-social recklessness. I do not feel anything like that at the latest revelations. Haider had never indulged in "homophobic" rhetoric and had been remarkably laid-back about any accusations of being homosexual himself, which was, to me, rather circumstancial evidence that he was NOT, although it seemed so obvious.
What IS interesting, though, is how the conspiracy theorists will bring in the Mossad now. On a more serious note, it is the question how he could, again, get away with it. It think that was because he was able to inspire unusual and inordinate loyalty in his followers and that his politically correct adversaries wouldn't have wanted to see him in a light they are forced by their own ideology to consider positive.
I have discussed such a phenomenon already here in a different context. Wouldn't it have cast a shadow on the oh-so-perfect gay community, who are selling us their lifestyle not just as an alternative, but as a preferable one, when it had transpired that Mr. Squeaky Clean had been one of them? Would a Haider have fit in such a picture? I bet he hadn't.
By which I have, at last, found something nice to say about that man.

Interesting story, and I had heard previously that Haider was gay, but is there any evidence that he was actually in a gay bar before he died?
Your link is to a photo which doesn't really tell us anything.
Google for "Schwulenkneipe Haider" and you will find all the affirmative stuff, including the photo I posted. There is the evidence and nobody denies it anymore. You have to trust me because there is no English language stuff yet.
Thanks, Editrix.
What about VW´s investigations. Was his car sabotaged?
By whom and why?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1078408/Austrian-far-Right-leader-Haider-goes-grave-taking-secret-hours-gay-club-him.html
As throngs of right-wing crowds gathered for his funeral today, makers of the VW Phaeton limo he was driving insist their car is one of the safest in the world and should have survived the crash.
VW spokesman Peter Thul claimed that someone with access to Haider’s car key could have manipulated the car’s electrics.
The car giants have sent their own experts to examine the wreckage and search for signs it may have been sabotaged.
(...)
Thul told The Sun: “It is a fact that Haider was going too fast, but such a speed on that curve is not a problem for the car’s physics.
“The Phaeton and Audi A8 are the safest of all. You’d need the key to manipulate the electronics, so someone at a garage would have to tamper with it.”
So Jörg Haider was gay. So what? Many politicians are.
I agree.
I don't care if he way gay.
So was the head of the brownshirts.
Anyone who mistakenly farts is now going to be the victim of some conspiracy. Since 9/11 this should be obvious.
I have previously commented sarcastically about this. I hope no one take this seriously.
Drunk, speeding, concrete abutments..bad combination

It's good that you agree with me.
Far, far too much is made of whether someone is gay, or not. Especially, alas, in the States, it seems. Here in Europe such a revelation would be about as explosive as a damp squib!
Criticize Haider for his politics, by all means. But please not for his sexual orientation.
Knocking gays seems to be about the last taboo. Imagine knocking someone for being black. One would be hounded out of the room. And rightly so.
Regarding Jörg Haider's politics, I would have this to say: He stood up against immigration. He was what the MSM like to call "far-right". But then the MSM label anyone who isn't out and out liberal as "far-right".
Now don't get me wrong, I was no fan of Haider's. But I do realize that people of his ilk are prepared to talk about, and would do something about, the Islamization of Western nations. But they are disliked because they are just a tad to the left of Gengis Khan. But what are people to do? The mainstream parties won't admit there's a problem, still less do something about that problem. The so-called far-right are prepared to act on it.
No sensible person would like to see Europe moving so far to the right; at least I wouldn't. But I do see that people like Haider doing well at the polls cold serve the purpose of putting the wind up the established parties, thus hopefully forcing them to confront the real problems we face.
