Dalai Lama: "I Love George Bush"

WTF? I thought this was a joke, when I first read it. But, as best as I can tell, this is a real news story.

New Delhi: The Dalai Lama, a lifelong champion of non-violence candidly stated that terrorism cannot be tackled by applying the principle of ahimsa because the minds of terrorists are closed.

"It is difficult to deal with terrorism through non-violence," the Tibetan spiritual leader said delivering the Madhavrao Scindia Memorial Lecture here.

He termed terrorism as the worst kind of violence which is not carried by a few mad people but by those who are very brilliant and educated.

"They (terrorists) are very brilliant and educated...but a strong ill feeling is bred in them. Their minds are closed," the Dalai Lama said.

He said the only way to tackle terrorism is through prevention.

The head of the Tibetan government-in-exile left the audience stunned when he said "I love President George W Bush." He went on to add how he and the US President instantly struck a chord in their first meeting unlike politicians who take a while to develop close ties.

Love is just a four letter word...so is Bush. How very poignant on the very eve of the Junior Holiday.

No, I believe the Dalai Lama. He really loves Bush. He really does.

Now I can't decide if you're being facetious. I know I am too reflexively cynical at times. If this is indeed real, and the Dalai Lama does indeed know the difference between real national aspirations and the dark supra-national predations of the Ummah, then this is good.

I'm sorry. I was being facetious. it's a bad habit of mine.

That being said, this story is true. The Dalai Lama really said that, and what's more, I believe he really believes it.

It is, indeed, a thing to celebrate that the Dalai Lama realizes these realities and is willing to articulate them, even though he must be well aware that Richard Gere and those types will not be happy to hear them.

I'm pleasantly surprised he said it. It certainly won't win him points with That One, either.

He would be well aware of terrorism in many of it's guises. WHether the Chinese running him out of Tibet or what he has seen of it living in Dharamsala.

Fuck Richard Gere and his syncophant fans. I've no more use for him than for that idiot Tom Cruise. They all need to hear more "truth" like this and stop their pandering.
