LOL

Of course, this was also true of previous American Presidents.

You know, here's the thing. The US has pursued an ethical policy of not purchasing oil from Iran and Iraq, because they were countries which we believed supported terrorism.

This ethical policy only made us need Saudi ever more.

The fact is, Saudi Arabia SELLS us oil.

They are the salesman. We are the buyer.

Usually, the person selling a product will bend over backward to please his customer. But, at some point, the tail began to wag the dog in this relationship.

And, that has a lot to do with our ethical policies.

That is a forgotten dynamic. Most people think this Saudi relationship is purely an example of America's lack of ethics. It's actually the result of the dynamic created by America's attempt to apply ethics to business dynamics.

Noble, and destructive for us and ultimately, the rest of the world as well.

And, of course, ALL OF THIS COULD BE SOLVED if we would just start drilling in the U.S.

Did you know that we have something near SEVEN TIMES THE OIL OF SAUDI ARABIA just in two areas of the U.S.

1) the Montana/Dakotas
2) the Rocky Mountains

Here's are some posts I have written on the subject:

Terror-Free Oil

Terror-Free Oil Initiative is dedicated to encouraging Americans to buy fuel that originated from countries that do not export or finance terrorism.

We promote those companies that acquire their fuel supply from nations outside the Middle East and expose those companies that do not.

It may not be perfect, but it's a start.

I've interviewed Joe Kaufman (the founder of Terror-Free Oil) on my radio show.

While I am grateful to Kaufman for making the effort, I do not believe his is the way to go.

Every step the U.S. makes towards an ethical policy in purchasing oil only limits the amount of countries we can buy from.

Market dynamics dictate that the less supply, the greater the demand, and the higher the price.

Therefore, we are only shooting ourselves in the foot, and putting ourselves at a disadvantage in pursuing such policies.

The only thing we can do to make the situation truly better is to drill for the oil in our own backyard.

As you can see from my posts at the Astute Blogger, I believe we have more than enough oil to solve our own problems.
