Neda Was a Christian? - UPDATED

Banafsheh writes: That's not a cross! That's a FARAVAHAR...the ancient symbol of the Zoroastrians!
Honestly Folks, this required a little more research before writing up such things. Neda's father is being SERIOUSLY harassed by the regime. WHY make it worse for them by writing such bunkum. With all due respect to your blog which I do like...this was highly thoughtless...not to mention totally unresearched!
Pastorius comment: Who knows? It looks like a cross to me.

From Pamela Geller --This reproduced picture run across world media, her cross is cropped out. What deceit

That Neda was a Christian is ample proof that everyone in Iran who took to the streets was marching for liberty and one man one vote. How vile to imply that millions marched for the inside politicking of Islamic cleric rule. Her religion flies in the face of every cold blooded pundit who has attempted to dismiss this historic movement as simply more sharia in shades of green.Photo hat tip Robert via PI)

Whoa!

This is quite a shock.

It shouldn't be, I suppose.

Amazing, a new angle and twist.

We can and should never forget how she died and the cause of freedom and REGIME CHANGE in Iran...

In my opinion, her death is no more tragic because she was a Christian. We are ALL created in the image of God, whether we choose to be Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian or Jew. It doesn't matter.

However, it does explain why she was killed.

Her friends said the police walked up to her and shot her on purpose, it was a targeted killing.

I noticed that when she was lying on the ground, she did not have a hijab on. She had a veil on the back of her head.

I supposed that the veil had fallen backward, when she fell.

Now, I believe it is likely that, as a Christian, she did not wear the proper Islamic dress, and that's why she was targeted.

Even enlarged, it still looks like a cross. None of the curved winged detail shows up. But yes, Banafsheh, we need to be more careful with our words. Thank you.

Even if it is a symbol of Zoroastrianism, the fact remains that she is not a Muslim. All of us know that Persia was a Zoroastrian nation before that identity of hers was wiped out by the Arab Muslim invading army in the early 7th century.

Neda, if she was a zoroastrian, represents the real Persia (not Iran) more so than if she was a Christian or a Mulsim.

Wasn't Neda wearing a hijab?

Coercion?

To me, even in the large photo, it's still not clear, but it looks a LOT more like a cross than a faravahar.

One can hope...

AOW,

Coercion?

Well, I can tell you, having lived in Saudi Arabia, that even non Muslim women are forced to wear the abaya. Its the law there. I have never been to Iran so don't take my word for it but I'd think even non Muslim women are forced to wear the hijab at least.

That's what Islam is: Respect my religion in my country and respect my religion in your also!

Only Pamela Geller is able to say something quite that retarded. I wish she'd confine herself to doing what she does best: strutting her tits.

Never did I read such powerfull wisdom! Allthough I live on the other side of the Earth, I'm convinced that it was needed that I travelled the whole way to find the most childish, mentally disturbed comment on a matter of the death of a woman, that died because she loved the truth.
Obv. U have problems accepting people who think different from U.

U know what? I don't believe U dared to speak like that in front of the ayathollas! Here it's so easy, you don't have to be responsible.

I have to disagree. That clearly is a cross. In fact if you type in Google "Faravahar necklace" - you will see that the slope [curvature] in the wing span and the legs spreading out near the bottom, or the larger bottom (not only due to the legs but the tail) is not there either.

In fact, here is an example of the necklace on a person: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/Vbn9WvTNm8I/0.jpg
