With Friends Like These. . .

Meanwhile, the President is commiting treason and offering American legal protections to enemy combatants and giving them a trial by jury.

Just who would their "peers" be?

Holder Defender Supported 9/11 '20th Hijacker'
Sunday, December 6, 2009 12:55 PMBy: Theodore Kettle

Malik Zulu Shabazz, the New Black Panther Party national chairman who on Friday defended Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision dismissing a voter intimidation suit against his organization for its members’ nightstick tactics at a Philadelphia voting location last Election Day, in 2002 publicly offered legal defense to convicted 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui.

Moussaoui, infamous as the would-be “20th hijacker,” is an admitted al-Qaida member arrested in Minnesota the month before the attacks. After being sentenced to life imprisonment and escaping the death penalty in 2006, Moussaoui clapped while exiting the courtroom and exclaimed, “America, you lost – I won!”

As the Jewish Anti-Defamation League describes it, “on July 18, 2002” at “the courthouse for the U.S. Eastern District Court of Virginia … Shabazz convened a press conference to announce his interest in aiding Moussaoui’s defense.”

Shabazz, who was born Paris Lewis and boasts a Howard University law degree, is condemned as a bigot and a hatemonger by both the ADL and the Southern Poverty Law Center. Both of those liberal groups are usually more concerned about white supremacists, but the venom of Shabazz’s organization has drawn their attention.

The ADL calls Shabazz “anti-Semitic and racist,” but warns that he has “recast himself as a serious civil rights leader in recent years by cloaking his bigotry and intolerance in religious and civil rights principles and inserting himself in high profile, racially charged issues around the country.” As a result, the media “increasingly ignore his divisive record.”

According to the Jewish defense group, Shabazz’s “long record of racism and anti-Semitism, which he continues to embrace … includes promoting conspiracy theories about Jewish foreknowledge of the September 11 terrorist attacks and canards that Jews control the media and were ‘significantly and substantially’ involved in the transatlantic slave trade.”

During a 2002 NBPP demonstration in front of the B’nai B’rith building in Washington, the ADL says, “Shabazz led chants of ‘death to Israel,’ ‘the white man is the devil,’ and ‘Jihad.’ He also said, ‘Kill every goddamn Zionist in Israel! Goddamn little babies, goddamn old ladies! Blow up Zionist supermarkets!’”

The Southern Poverty Law Center notes that Shabazz’s group has called for “separation of the races and the overthrow of the U.S. government.” An early New Black Panther Party conference “was attended by 200 blacks and one specially invited white guest – Tom Metzger, the white supremacist ideologue who has a fondness for publishing grotesque caricatures of black people.” The center called it “one of a number of meetings of black and white separatists … joining in a common cause.”

The Montgomery, Ala.-based SPLC quotes Shabazz as saying shortly before becoming New Black Panther spokesman, “We will never bow down to the white, Jewish, Zionist onslaught.”

Shabazz has said that the New Black Panther Party suspended from its membership the Philadelphia man who held the nightstick at the polling place last year.

On a side note, logs released by the Obama administration show that a "Malik Shabazz" visited the White House. The White House press office claimed that this person is not the same Shabazz who heads the New Black Panther Party.
