Ben Nelson agrees to vote yes on Reid's Health Care Bill...why?

Among other changes offered to Nelson how do you folks all interpret this:

Instead of a public option, the final product would allow private firms for the first time to offer national insurance policies to all Americans, outside the jurisdiction of state regulations. Those plans would be negotiated through the Office of Personnel Management, the same agency that handles health coverage for federal workers and members of Congress.

Avatar Review - first of all, it's not quite a movie

It is a physical experience.
It is a fantasy documentary
It is a love story
It is the story of the Cherokee, Sioux and Cheyenne on a world where nature veneration makes a bit more difference.

Make sure you see it in 3d
Make sure it's on a real big screen, preferably IMAX, but it will be fine on a regular screen with a 1st rate sound system.

Sam Worthington is outstanding. Zoe Saldana as Natiri is literally otherworldly. All I can say to her is, I SEE YOU (anyway). Stephen Lang ... comes straight from the OK Corral via Stonewall Jackson and is perfectly cast. You dislike him intensely but you get him completely. Signourney Weaver plays what she looks like she ought to be: Ripley with a PhD. Giovanni Ribisi plays the corporate guy you love to hate with a little more conscience than Paul Reiser in Aliens

Anyone who likes a love story, which is as always, boy meets girl, boy likes girl, boy gets girl, boy loses girl, and then the last part which we all know .. will enjoy the tension blue heat generates.

Anyone who likes action will will enjoy themselves IMMENSELY

Anyone who likes effects will be a lost soul to Ewya, and stay in Pandora for the rest of the day

Anyone who watched Star Trek will remember well the Federation's Prime Directive, and enjoy

Any progressive will enjoy the movie because huminz be evil, HARRRRRRGGGHHHH !

Any conservative will enjoy it because you will remember what Cameron created from his mind, and caused to come into reality. Not only a totally new genre of movie experience, and way of making a story, but also an entire SET of invented technologies to take his singular personal imagination and make out of it, HUGE GREEN for himself and the backers.

SUPERB 3 hours. You will forget to eat the twizzlers, drink the coke, and say something to your wife. I heard NO COMMENTS for three hours. You won't be there for three hours, you will be on Pandora.

We saw it yesterday at noon. It was sold out until monday at 3, at noon friday.

CONGRATULATIONS to Cameron and all who helped create something to feel and think about, not as lesson in morality or love, but as a lesson in what man can do with what starts in a single creative mind and ends with millions receiving the creation.

Forget Titanic. This is IT

From Gateway:

Artist Daryl Vocat wrote in today to demand that his images be removed from this blog. The images were uploaded in the Fistgate IX posting on Wednesday.
The drawings can be seen here at Vocat’s website.

Vocat’s work was published in the book Revolutionary Voices edited by Amy Sonnie and promoted by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to children. GLSEN was, of course, founded by Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings.

The artist obviously has no problem with children viewing the images but is upset that they were posted here for criticism without his permission.
I have taken the images down.

The image showing two men having sex while boy scouts watch can still be seen in the GLSEN promoted children’s book Revolutionary Voices.

Related… David Limbaugh wrote about the Jennings scandal today at Townhall.

Well, he might have gotten to Gateway Pundit, but I'll post the images.

Here they are:

For today’s report we give you another of of GLSEN’s recommended books for 7-12 graders. This one had pictures–
(An illustration about the change from “boy to man,” showing two Boy Scouts pointing at and looking at two adult men engaging in anal sex.)
In Revolutionary Voices – Page 104A work of art shows a Boy Scout giving a salute behind two men kissing passionately.

This book is promoted at the GLSEN website and can be purchased there.Could there really be any logical reason for recommending this book to children? Is this material really suitable for children? Is this supposed to build tolerance? Does this book really belong in our schools? Kevin Jennings thinks so.

Mother kills newborn, can’t be charged with crime

A society as sick as ours really almost deserves it's fate. I mean, really, pass Cap and Trade and ObamaCare, invite the Muslim Jihadists to come in and kill us, and enforce Sharia law, kill everyone who wants Freedom, take all the money away from investors, regulate and tax the hell out of all entrepreneurs and innovators, let the Muslims and the Lefties get away with their good cop/bad cop Holocaust against Israel and the Jews ...

kill us all.

I would give up, except for the fact that I don't want my children or your children to have to have to inherit this world.

So I'll continue to post this kind of stuff, just so we can all see it, and take note of it, and eventually we will collectively get angry enough to take action.

From Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:

This may be the worst story of the year, at least in reference to domestic policy and crime. How bad is it? When Matt of Creative Minority Report tipped me to it this morning, I had to track it down to make sure it was on the level. A woman in Campbell County, Virginia smothered her newborn infant, and police are powerless to do anything about it:

The caller said a woman in her early 20s was in labor. When deputies arrived, they discovered the baby had actually been born around 1:00a.m., about ten hours earlier. Investigators say the baby was already dead when deputies got there.

Investigators tell WSLS the baby’s airway was still blocked. They say the baby was under bedding and had been suffocated by her mother. Investigators say because the mother and baby were still connected by the umbilical cord and placenta, state law does not consider the baby to be a separate life. Therefore, the mother cannot be charged.

“In the state of Virginia as long as the umbilical cord is attached and the placenta is still in the mother, if the baby comes out alive the mother can do whatever she wants to with that baby to kill it.“, says Investigator Tracy Emerson. “She could shoot the baby, stab the baby. As long as it’s still attached to her in some form by umbilical cord or something it’s no crime in the state of Virginia."

Honour Killings Soar As Islamic Fundamentalism Spreads It's Wings

From the Telegraph via Vlad Tepes:

Tulay Goren murder: ‘honour’ crimes doubling every year, figures show

“Honour killings” are now running at the rate of one a month, it has emerged, following a shocking rise in violent crimes committed in Britain in the name of religion.

The number of murders, rapes and assaults on people who dare to break strict religious or cultural rules is doubling every year, police figures show, with up to two violent “honour crimes” being committed every day.

But charities which help victims of honour crimes say the true extent of the problem is far worse than the statistics show, as every year hundreds of vicitms – normally women – are too frightened to report attacks or to give evidence in court.

The escalating problem was highlighted yesterday as an Old Bailey jury convicted Mehmet Goren, 49, of the cold-blooded and premeditated murder of his 15-year-old daughter Tulay after she fell in love with someone from the “wrong” branch of Islam.

Miss Goren disappeared 10 years ago after telling a friend she might be pregnant but justice caught up with her father after his wife “courageously” testified against him and lifted what was described as the “cloak of secrecy” which surrounds honour crimes.

A prosecutor said the case was a “wake-up call” to the authorities over the extent of the problem in this country, which campaigners say is growing because of the rise of religious fundamentalism.

Miss Goren and her family had nine contacts with police in the days before her death, during which they complained of violence by Goren, but officers had little understanding at the time of the concept of honour crimes and she was left at the mercy of her father.

The court heard that Miss Goren, whose Turkish Kurd family are Alevi Muslims, was drugged, tortured and then killed by her father after she fell in love with a Sunni Muslim twice her age. Her body has never been found.

Miss Goren’s sister Nuray Guler told the court, the teenager had been “caught in the middle of two clashing worlds” and pleaded with police to stop other women falling victim to “this primitive custom”.

She expressed fears for the safety of her mother Hanim, whose evidence against Goren had put her own life in danger. “No one should fail to realise what this means within our culture,” she said.

“These people do not forget.”

And some people wonder why Pamela Geller is making such a big deal over Rifqa Bary.

Pastorius' Christmas Song Video Picks

I like RRA's picks.

Here are mine.

First off, for Novelty song, I choose Hannukah Song by Adam Sandler (I know, I know, it's not a Christmas song, but he does mention Christmas):

Non-Religious Song (hearing Christina Aguilera sing this is like a shot of Viagra for me):

1 "novelty" song (Grandma Got Run Over, anything by Ray Stevens, etc., etc.),

1 non-religious "holiday season" song (White Christmas, Silver Bells, etc.)

1 Christmas carol/hymn. Main idea is to spread Christmas cheer and annoy the trolls.

Obama Gets Something Right

For all the (correctly so) bitching and complaining we do about our ditherer in chief, it would seem he got this one right.

Obama Ordered U.S. Military Strike on Yemen Terrorists
Cruise Missiles Launched Thursday Hit Two Suspected al Qaeda Sites; Major Escalation of US Efforts Against Terrorists

On orders from President Barack Obama, the U.S. military launched cruise missiles early Thursday against two suspected al-Qaeda sites in Yemen, administration officials told ABC News in a report broadcast on ABC World News with Charles Gibson.

One of the targeted sites was a suspected al Qaeda training camp north of the capitol, Sanaa, and the second target was a location where officials said "an imminent attack against a U.S. asset was being planned."

The Yemen attacks by the U.S. military represent a major escalation of the Obama administration's campaign against al Qaeda.

In his speech about added troops for Afghanistan earlier this month, President Obama made a brief reference to Yemen, saying, "Where al Qaeda and its allies attempt to establish a foothold -- whether in Somalia or Yemen or elsewhere -- they must be confronted by growing pressure and strong partnerships."

Until tonight, American officials had hedged about any U.S. role in the strikes against Yemen and news reports from Yemen attributed the attacks to the Yemen Air Force.

President Obama placed a call after the strikes to "congratulate" the President of Yemen, Ali Abdallah Salih, on his efforts against al Qaeda, according to White House officials.

A Yemeni official at the country's embassy in Washington insisted to ABC News Friday that the Thursday attacks were "planned and executed" by the Yemen government and police.

Along with the two U.S. cruise missile attacks, Yemen security forces carried out raids in three separate locations. As many as 120 people were killed in the three raids, according to reports from Yemen, and opposition leaders said many of the dead were innocent civilians.

American officials said the missile strikes were intended to disrupt a growing threat from the al Qaeda branch in Yemen, which claims to coordinate terror attacks against neighboring Saudi Arabia.

The al Qaeda presence in Yemen has been steadily growing in the last two years. "Al Qaeda generally has been pushed into these ungoverned areas, whether it is the Afghanistan-Pakistan border area [or Yemen]," said Richard Barrett, coordinator of the U.N.'s Taliban al-Qaeda Sancitions Monitoring Committee. "I think many of the key people have moved to Yemen."

The U.S. embassy was attacked by suspected al Qaeda gunmen last year.

And the presumed leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, Qaaim al-Raymi, has frequently appeared on internet videos, offering an alternative to the training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

"If they can go to Yemen just as easily or easier and get training there and come out again," said Barrett, "all your efforts in Pakistan and Afghanistan are a waste of time."

Qaaim al-Raymi was considered a prime target of the attack Thursday but was reported to have escaped the attack. However, U.S. officials believe one of his top deputies may have been killed.

Parents of Rifqa Bary ask court to hold her in contempt to force her to attend counseling sessions with Muslim counselor

From Jawa (click on the title above to see the whole thing):

...and the counselor they demand she attend filed an affidavit in support of Rifqa being held in contempt!

The next episode in the legal battle between Muslim-turned-Christian convert Rifqa Bary and her allegedly abusive parents will occur next Tuesday in an Ohio courtroom. As I reported last Friday, one of the issues that will be heard by the court is a motion by the CAIR-appointed attorney to the Bary parents demanding that all Christmas cards sent to Rifqa be banned, and any cards she has already received be seized. On Monday, we provided clear evidence of CAIR's backstage handling of the media in this case.

Another issue next week will be another motion filed by the Bary parents asking the court to hold Rifqa in contempt for refusing to attend counseling sessions with a Muslim counselor. Amazingly, the counselor that the Bary parents are attempting to force her to see filed a affidavit supporting the parents' motion to hold Rifqa in contempt of court. How could this counselor be remotely neutral?

But wait a second - haven't all the media stooges in this case, from Meredith "Hijab" Heagney of the Columbus Dispatch to Michael Kruse of the St. Petersburg Times, insisted that the Bary family intends to respect Rifqa's Christian faith? Haven't these media stooges repeated assurances from the Bary parents that Rifqa has nothing to fear from returning home?

Don't expect these damaging revelations about the parents' duplicity to be reported in the Columbus Dispatch, friends. Behind the veil of sealed court motions the true face of Mohamed and Aysha Bary is being revealed. Her parents have defamed Christians who have attempted to help their daughter flee their abuse; they have filed criminal charges against Rifqa accusing her of being a delinquent; and now they ask the Ohio courts to ban and seize Rifqa's Christmas cards and to force her to see a Muslim counselor that has demonstrated his own partiality. What this long sequence of events clearly shows is that Rifqa Bary has much to fear from being returned to her parents and that they have no intention to honor her personal religious choices.

Hopefully, the courts will recognize what's going on in this case and dispense justice, not political correctness.

Obama to China: I can't stop Israel strike on Iran indefinitely

From Watcher:

Now that is a very interesting development.

(Haaretz) U.S. President Barack Obama has warned his Chinese counterpart that the United States would not be able to keep Israel from attacking Iranian nuclear installations for much longer, senior officials in Jerusalem told Haaretz.

They said Obama warned President Hu Jintao during the American's visit to Beijing a month ago as part of the U.S. attempt to convince the Chinese to support strict sanctions on Tehran if it does not accept Western proposals for its nuclear program.

The Israeli officials, who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the United States had informed Israel on Obama's meetings in Beijing on Iran. They said Obama made it clear to Hu that at some point the United States would no longer be able to prevent Israel from acting as it saw fit in response to the perceived Iranian threat.

Stupid Cow fights to save man who ran her over

From Watcher:

(UK) In the English city of Derby, 19-year-old Stacey Stubley pleaded in court for the judge not to jail her ex boyfriend who, in an episode totally out of character of his obsessive behavior towards his ex girlfriend, ran her over in his car putting her in a hospital bed for over a fortnight.

In court she pleaded with the judge not to jail Asah Shah and stated that the police statement of violence, intimidation, controlling behaviour she made against Shah from her hospital bed cannot be relied upon.

Meanwhile, his defense lawyer stated:
"He is a man who has come from a very decent, well-educated family, who has let down himself and them and hurt the one person he says he cares about more than anybody else".
I'm just waiting for somebody to shout 'Islamaphobia'.

Muslims Own The Streets Of Paris

From Jihad Watch:

DLR - 75018 - la laïcité remise en cause (bis)
by infos_DLR_Paris

Look at how aggressive these Paris Muslims get with a camera man.

The Muslims have been taking over more and more streets for Friday prayers. They block off roads, put their rugs out on the sidewalk as well as the street, deprive shop owners of business for two and a half hours, deprive residents of the street from entering or leaving their apartments for that time, they act aggressively toward non-muslims and women pedestrians who still try to use the street.

Several helpful suggestions were made in the Comments section, such as flinging handfuls of chopped pork from the rooftops, having a priest sprinkle holy water and tell them they're all converted, everybody walking their dogs through the crowd, out-of-control 18-wheelers, and the ever popular water cannon.

Apparently nobody ever thought of trying even the simplest of these. They just dhimmied up and let it happen.

Hey. Back when I lived in NYC there were a bunch of noisy drunks hung out on our corner every night. The ex and I got outselves some water balloons and went up to the roof. Within a week, end of problem.

You ignore small problems, they become big obnoxious ones you can't avoid.

After Covering Up Symbol for Jesus at Georgetown, White House Had Obama Speak in Front of Symbols for AMA, AARP and Human Rights Campaign

Really, think about it, why would Obama be so opposed to Christian symbols?

From CNS News:

(CNSNews.com) – When President Barack Obama spoke at Gaston Hall at Georgetown University on April 14, the university complied with a White House request to cover up all signs and symbols on the wall of the stage behind where the president spoke. These included the monogram “IHS”-- a symbol for the name of Jesus--which is prominently engraved in gold on a pediment in the center of the back wall of stage.

The pediment was covered up with what appeared to be black-painted piece of plywood cut to fit precisely into the triangular space containing the name of Jesus.

When controversy ensued over the covering up of Jesus’s name, the White House issued a statement saying that the backdrop of blue drapes and flags had been erected at the back of the Georgetown stage behind the president because it is “standard for many presidential events.”

Since the symbol for the name of Jesus was covered up for President Obama’s Georgetown speech, however, Obama has spoken at a number of venues while standing or sitting in front of other prominently displayed symbols and monograms that were not covered up and that thus received national exposure and publicity thanks to the president. These have included the monogram for the American Medical Association (AMA), the monogram for the AARP, and the symbol of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s most prominent gay rights organization.

Turns out, sunshine states really are happiest

WASHINGTON – People in sunny, outdoorsy states — Louisiana, Hawaii, Florida — say they're the happiest Americans, and researchers think they know why. A new study comparing self-described pleasant feelings with objective measures of good living found these folks generally have reason to feel fine.

The places where people are most likely to report happiness also tend to rate high on studies comparing things like climate, crime rates, air quality and schools.

The happiness ratings were based on a survey of 1.3 million people across the country by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It used data collected over four years that included a question asking people how satisfied they are with their lives.

Muhammad, The Night Before Christmas

From this post at Feed Your ADHD:

It was the night before Christmas and Muhammad was confused.

Should Muslims have fun holidays like the Christians and Jews?

8 days of Hanukkah or a fat Jinn in a red suit,

Who used reindeers not camels to carry his loot?

And what kind of presents would Muhammad think best?

Barbies in burkas and suicide vests?

It had to be something the kafurs would envy

Teddy bears named Muhammad or something trendy.

But that’s too much work for a man who had fits

With angels who’d scare him out of his wits.

It would have to be simple and easy to do

And try not to get sick with that kafur swine flu

So he laid on his bed, the left side of course,

Couldn’t lay on his back considering the source

Of Sharia and Hadith and all those rules

Can’t have kafurs thinking we’re fools.

As he laid on his left side, trying hard not to sleep,

When in crept a dog without making a peep.

He said to Muhammad, such an idea I have

I’d tell you now, but we’re forbidden to laugh

Muhammad was startled by the sight of the dog

They’re considered impure if you read all the blogs

But with the crescent moon setting he had to decide

Listen to the dog or forget the yuletide.

So the dog said to Muhammad this has to be done right

Or the Sunni and Shia will start a big fight

And that damned winged horse that flew to the sky

That screwed up the prayers, is it 3 or is it 5?

But Muhammad disagreed; the dog be can’t be right

I’ve given them holidays for at least a few nights

Like Ramadan to starve them from sun up to sun down

A billion hungry Muslims all running around

A month of No sex, food, or water, from dawn until dusk

And then the celebration of Eid, where they can pig out and lust

They can eat lots of dates and wear all their best clothes

And visit a gravesite … before they’re blown up by their foes.

They can ask forgiveness and even pray for more wives

It’s all about sex, haven’t I given them good lives?

Plus, the angel Gabe descends with white clothes

For Muhammad’s grandsons, all dead, but who knows

We eat lots of food on all 3 days

And pay zakat to the poor but not if they’re gay

I have already given them this holiday you see,

But only when the moon is sighted by three

And it’s never the same time, so they have to remember

Like this year it fell on the 21 of September

And the dog said to Muhammad, 30 days of fasting, 3 days to over eat

If that’s the best you can do, they’ve got you beat.

The kafurs give presents, charity and good cheer

And it’s always the same month year after year

Besides, said Muhammad, for 1400 years it’s been a tradition

To make fun of the holidays of the Jews and the Christian.

We can’t change it now, it’s gone on far too long

Plus Sharia forbids us from singing a song

But what of the treaty of Hudaibiyya, argued the dog with skill

Where you denied you were a prophet so you wouldn’t be killed

If you could fake it then you could fake it now

Say Happy Holidays to the kafurs and don’t have a cow

Tell Muslims to be tolerant or go back where they’re from

Or they’ll be eating the fruit of the Az Zaqqum

To celebrate life’s mysteries should be each human’s right

It shouldn’t be a reason for Muslims to hate or to fight.

Forget it said Muhammad, as they’ve ignored much that I’ve said

They follow their scholars and the Hadith they’ve read.

And they made up the Quran long after I was dead.

Good luck to you all, I’m going back to bed.

And that’s your Muslim winter holiday. And to all a good night

And of course we all know the dog was right.
The above was a guest post by Az Zaqqum, Islamic scholar to the Kafurs.

And they were happy to see NY 23 as a harbinger of a coming Tea Party ragnarok

Anyone who saw Chris Matthews try to kill Howard Dean live on TV understands now the left as usual is crazier by far, and vastly more intolerant than the right.

There is a fear the hood ornament doesn't understand. Just ask Olberman, Ed Schultz, the Nation, Arianna Huffington, Bernie Sanders, MoveOn (ie Soros) and Kos.

They can't accept the idea that if some people regard abortion as murder, right or wrong, they have a strong objection to the govt seizing their money to use it for that purpose, making them, the taxpayers responsible for that murder. So they can't accept a bill that won't enforce that. Or one without a compulsion to make the same people who can't keep secure from people in a cave the link between drones and the Air Force, responsible for deciding what kind and if you should receive therapy based on your usage of your QALY or complete lives cap.

Obama, who is undoubtedly really one of them, has conceived the idea that to be president SOMETHING must get passed even if it's PI with decimals places carried out for all 2092 pages and the 700 pages of Bernie Sander's amendment. This boggles my mind as well. Does this mean he thinks the American people are so stupid they will wave the bill around in glee as they celebrate? Or does he REALLY believe this will reduce the cost of medical care (I simply have a hard time believing he is that stupid).

Therefore whatever he is doing I am missing it. But the REAL leadership of the Dem party, MoveOn-Soros-SEIU types, regard this effort as contaminated and fully compromised.

The rest of us should simply watch in fascination as the 40 cars pile up at the 3rd turn at Talladega

Wouldn't it just be so much simpler to put health insurance on the same competitive plain as cell phone plans and allow nation wide competition among the people already doing it, rather than accept all those bribes and payoffs, and contributions to keep each state locked up by a few companies sucking the blood from the people?

If, as the old saw goes, politics makes strange bedfellows, what kind of bedfellows does the endeavor to restructure our entire society create?

Very strange bedfellows -- very strange bedfellows, indeed.

Regular visitors to American Thinker are well familiar with the names Cloward (Richard Andrew) and Piven (Frances Fox), along with their so-called Cloward-Piven Strategy. Sundry are the articles on Cloward-Piven adorning the august pages of American Thinker. Zero are the favorable ones.

...Until now.

Having examined the Cloward-Piven Strategy, just to assure myself (if not the reader) that I haven't taken leave of my senses, I am moved to ask: Have we conservatives been too hard on Cloward-Piven? Are we right to oppose the two sociologists and their eponymous strategy? Or is our visceral opposition to their beliefs and goals causing us to miss a "strange bedfellow" hiding in plain sight?

First, let's briefly review the strategy, just to make sure we're all on the same page. The Cloward-Piven Strategy is often -- and inaccurately -- described as a strategy "to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse." Though that might be the ultimate result, the strategy's actual, immediate goal is much more modest: to overload all welfare programs, at all levels of government, and thereby force the federal government to guarantee every American a minimum annual income.

However much it may seem so at first blush, this is not socialism. There is neither a call nor a need for "the people to own the means of production." Nor does the strategy seek to equalize incomes; it merely seeks to redistribute wealth -- which, as astute readers may have noticed, Democrats have managed to do very well under capitalism. And frankly, who is to say that eliminating all of the current welfare programs -- their redundancy, their multiple levels of bureaucracy, their inefficiency -- and simply handing our, shall we say, less productive citizens a wad of cash and sending them on their way might not be better? Or at least cheaper?

I'm just sayin'. But what concerns us here today is not Cloward-Piven's goal, but the means of achieving it, which indeed is to bring down the current system by urging as many qualified recipients as possible to sign up for federal poverty-assistance programs in order to broaden the eligibility requirements. This will make additional people eligible, and these people will then lobby Congress to create new programs.

So, irrespective of the Cloward-Piven Strategy's ultimate goal, its intermediate goal is undeniably to bring down the current system. And needless to say, "Treason!" "Hang 'em!" or some polite-society equivalent is the instinctive reaction from conservatives. But if they could restrain themselves and think for a moment, conservatives might realize that Cloward and Piven have some interesting company.

Cloward and Piven, meet Ayn Rand.

I have no idea whether Richard Cloward or Frances Piven has read Atlas Shrugged. But if they didn't, they should, because though no one could differ more than Cloward-Piven and Rand on ends, they are astonishingly in total agreement on means. Recall the basic plot of Atlas Shrugged: John Galt, a disgruntled inventor whose work is appropriated for "the common good," decides to "stop the motor of the world" by convincing the world's innovators, inventors, and producers to stop innovating, inventing, and producing. Galt's theory is that, deprived of these people's intellect and industry, the state would be forced to supply the wealth that Galt and his ilk do not. As the state has no means to do this, the system would break down, force government to "get out of the way," and herald the advent of pure capitalism.

Of course, Atlas Shrugged holds a place of honor on most conservatives' must-read lists. So let's be honest: A lot of us would like to bring down the current system, too. So if we do in fact share, at least temporarily, Cloward-Piven's intermediate goal, should we not at least consider working with, rather than against, them? Why not a Cloward-Piven-Rand Strategy whereby, simultaneously, we convince the innovators, inventors, and producers to stop innovating, inventing, and producing -- and they convince every eligible American to apply for every available social program and lobby for government at all levels to create even more? Would our combined efforts not bring down the current system -- a goal we both share -- even faster?

Ultimately, the Cloward-Piven crowd's path and ours would necessarily diverge, to put it mildly. But for the present, while we share a common goal, why not work together, just as America and the Soviet Union fought together in World War II? Later, when the war is the war won, when the common enemy -- the current system -- is defeated, we can go back to fighting each other.

And then may the better system prevail.

Iran Could be Developing Hydrogen Bomb

From the Weekly Standard:

Iran's nuclear program is spread throughout a variety of experimental laboratories, hardened enrichment facilities, heavy water manufacturing plants, and two plutonium reactors currently under development (Bushehr could come online within a few months). That far exceeds what's needed to turn on the lights, but it's also beyond what's needed for a basic nuclear weapons program.

Consider North Korea, which manufactured two limited yield nuclear weapons using only a plutonium reactor, a plutonium reprocessing facility, and -- presumably -- some sort of weapons laboratory. Why is Iran pumping billions more into building and protecting triple the number of facilities required to build a basic nuclear weapon, akin to the Fat Man or Little Boy bombs detonated in 1945?

The answer could be that Tehran is skipping basic weapons construction and moving towards an advanced thermonuclear design. Consider that they've already experimented with advanced weapons designs like two-point implosion, nuclear triggers, and have built their own facility at Arak that could be used to produce both tritium, which is a suspected boosting agent in hydrogen bomb designs, as well as weapons-grade plutonium. They've spent billions building, hardening, and protecting uranium enrichment, which could be used along with plutonium in a staged nuclear device. All this at an astronomical cost and effort compared to the similar North Korean nuclear program.

And what of Ahmadinejad’s recent visit to South America, where he showed keen interest in Bolivia's massive lithium reserves? Lithium is commonly used in batteries and electric cars, but it can also be engineered into lithium-6, which is reportedly used as fusion fuel in two-stage thermonuclear devices.

Iran may be skipping basic, cumbersome nuclear designs and moving straight to a fully deliverable hydrogen style weapon akin to what's employed by the United States and Russia. Such a powerful weapon would compensate for Iran's inaccurate missile fleet and allow them to hold vast swaths of allied and American territory at risk.

On The Brink - The Long March About To Come To Fruition, Or Is It?

From the American Thinker:

After Richard Nixon defused the 1960s student revolt by abolishing the draft, the brain trust of the revolutionary left shifted its strategic focus to Antonio Gramsci's teachings, realizing that it is the intelligentsia, not the proletariat, that is the true revolutionary force in society; that cultural dominance, not violent revolt, is the true path to power. A project known as the Great March through the Institutions was launched. Nearly four decades later, in November 2008, it triumphed in a historic electoral victory; the revolutionary wave crested and deposited in the White House Barack Obama, the most radical president in the history of the republic.

It is a favorite parlor game on the right to speculate whether Obama is a free agent or a puppet. Actually it is beside the point whether he is the leader of the "progressive" movement or merely its hood ornament. The point is that the radical left came to power eager to grasp the rare moment when all the stars were aligned in its favor, offering the revolutionaries a realistic chance of achieving their long-cherished goal of turning the U.S. into a European-style welfare state. It was now or never. Full speed ahead, and damn the torpedoes!

And so Barack Obama sallied forth to usher in the Age of Aquarius. No one should have been surprised that the man whose entire previous life recommended him as a fervent far-left radical would turn out to be exactly that (after all, the past is prologue). What did come as a surprise to many was his zeal, his devil-take-the-hindmost approach. President Obama threw caution to the wind and at breakneck speed set about remaking America in the socialist mold.

In fact, he had little choice. Obama came to power in no small measure thanks to an economic collapse. But it is this very recession that makes his window of opportunity extremely narrow, at most ‘til the beginning of the 2010 election campaign. Off-year elections nearly always deal a blow to the ruling party, most certainly during economic downturns. Come election time, Obama's honeymoon will be long since over and the electorate will be sure to take out its frustration and anger on his party, further undermining the president's clout. Just ask Bill Clinton after the 1994 electoral debacle of the Democrats.

Given the political landscape the left decided on a drastic approach: President Obama and his Congressional allies would take advantage of their temporary preponderance and go all in on their program to take control of three major sectors: health care, education and energy. Speed was of the essence; while the Republicans are in post-electoral disarray, attack, attack, attack, overwhelm the enemy's defenses, give him no time to regroup, and push through the coveted legislation. All the chips were placed on a blitzkrieg. Using a football analogy, the Democrats threw a Hail Mary pass into the enemy's end-zone, pinning all their hopes on one daring toss.

In short order, a 787-billion "stimulus" (actually, little more than a slush fund for the Democratic Party and its allies) was passed, a cap-and-trade bill began its march through Congress, and the White House opened a massive campaign advancing the centerpiece of Obama's program: the health care reform. If the revolutionaries succeed in pushing through their radical environmental program and socializing the public health sector making up one-sixth of the national economy, America will be transformed beyond recognition. The destiny of the free, capitalist society is hanging in the balance.

However, Newton's Third Law of Motion states for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Extending the football analogy, when the offense floods the zone, so too does the defense, and both sides have a chance to come down with the ball. The all-out assault on the American capitalist system launched by the Democrats with Obama as the battering ram has run up against stiff resistance. The unwashed masses have woken up and growled in anger.

The fly-over country, as liberals contemptuously call Middle America, has sensed a real threat to its freedom and rose to defend the American way of life. And for the first time in memory, the stranglehold of the left on the media market has been broken down by the emergence of talk radio, the conservative blogosphere and Fox News TV. The liberals found themselves in unchartered waters. Unaccustomed to resistance, they thrashed helplessly about. Goaded by the so-called "mainstream" press, which is to mainstream as Cambridge, Massachusetts is to Peoria, Illinois, they lashed out at the opposition as "troglodytes," "Nazis, "KKK," and of course "racists." But this time it didn't work. The situation was too dire for the old reliable standbys to have the desired intimidating effect.

The enormous public debt endangering the future of the country; the sky-high unemployment numbers showing no signs of coming down any time soon; the serial blunders of the Obama administration, showing its ineptitude and confusion; the arrogance of the Congressional Democrats who are apparently intent on shoving the extremely unpopular reform on a reluctant citizenry -- all feed discontent and cement the opposition. Obama's plummeting popularity and the rebellion of the previously loyal segment of the Democratic electorate, the seniors, coupled with the devastating defeats in the gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia, are a grim warning to the Democrats, a harbinger of the disaster to come.

The only hope of Obama and his allies is that the American people, unaccustomed as they are to prolonged activism, will soon get bored and go back to slumber. Will the enraged electorate have the stamina, the staying power to continue the fight to the bitter end, until the internal aggression is beaten back? If it does and the socialist conspiracy is decisively defeated, the radical left will be dealt a crushing blow from which it might take decades to recover. If not, America as we know it, in all likelihood will be finished.

THE FRUITS OF ISLAM: LITERALLY AND FIGURATIVELY: "... unusually high number of male pseudohermaphrodite births in the Gaza"

From Reliapundit, the Astute Blogger:
Rare gender identity defect hits Gaza families

There are an unusually high number of male pseudohermaphrodite births in the Gaza neighborhood of Jabalya, where Nadir and Ahmed live.

Dr. Jehad Abudaia, a Canadian-Palestinian pediatrician and urologist practicing in Gaza, says he has diagnosed nearly 80 cases like Nadir's and Ahmed's in the last seven years.

"It is astonishing that we have [so] many cases with this defect, which is very rare all over the world," Abudaia says. He attributes the high frequency of this birth defect to "consanguinity," or in-breeding.

"If you want to go to the root of the problem, this problem runs in families in the genes." Abudaia says. "They want to get married to cousins... they don't go to another family. This is a problem."

Obama Earns Name of "Walking Eagle". Oh Yes He Does...

I was sent this in an email. Thank goodness I wasn't drinking coffee while I read it or I'd still be trying to dry out the keyboard.

President BARACK OBAMA was invited to address a major gathering of the American Indian Nation two weeks ago in upstate New York .

He spoke for almost an hour about his plans for increasing every Native American’s present standard of living. He referred to his time as a U.S. Senator and how he had voted for every Native American issue that came to the floor of the Senate.

Although President Obama was vague about the details of his plans, he seemed most enthusiastic and spoke eloquently about his ideas for helping his “red sisters and brothers.”

At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented Obama with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name, “Walking Eagle.” The proud President then departed in his motorcade to a fundraiser, waving to the crowds.

A news reporter later asked the group of chiefs how they came to select the new name they had given to the President.

They explained that “Walking Eagle” is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.

Roger Simon On "The Woodstock Climate Festival"

Yeah, I made up the name. Don't you think that's what it ought to be called?

From Roger Simon:

This whole event so far, what I can see of it anyway, is just silly. Basically, it’s a combination of a trade fair for eco products that are being flogged everywhere (I’m staying in a CO2 neutral hotel – you can see it on PJTV), third world operators looking for hand-outs (a couple of African scientists admitted to one of the skeptic scientists they knew AGW was a schuck, but it was a great oppo to get some cash) and leftover, re-upped hippies doing what they do — demonstrate and carry-on.

I’m supposed to join them as they storm the Bella Center (conference central) today, for what I’m not sure. Well, I’m being disingenuous. It’s partly for a soupcon of more money for developing nations mixed with a dollop of the death of capitalism — the latter of which would be disastrous for them since they are the sons and daughters of the bourgeoisie on the dole from their parents. But what do they care? It’s action...

The Second American Revolution: Defund and Disobey the Fascists

From Atlas Shrugs:

(912 on the mall)

The left's anti-American coup d'etat on America, made possible by the first radical Marxist in the White House, calls for distinctly American counter measures.

Dr. Jack Wheeler has "a strategy for any Republican wanting to get elected or re-elected to Congress in 2010, and for any Tea Partyer wanting to take individual action now against a government that ignores the Constitution -- Defund and Disobey."

Here's an excerpt of "The Double -D Strategy for rescuing America":

Let's talk about the Defund D first. The Founders in their usual brilliance place the power of the purse in the House, whose members must face election every two years - for if they become profligate with this power the voters can throw them out within months (24 max) rather than wait years (6) like the Senate.

All Appropriation bills authorizing any branch of the federal government (legislative, judicial, executive) to spend any money for any program must be initiated in and passed by a majority of the House. The Senate can only agree or disagree, and the same with the President.

The obverse of this appropriation authority is that if the House doesn't authorize money for something, then no money can be spent on that something by anyone in the federal government.

This was Senator Jim Inhofe's point when he announced (12/13) that "Obama has no power to make a deal in Copenhagen." Unless the House appropriates the money for any deal he makes, there's no deal at all.

Currently, this is the best that can be done at the federal legislative level. That is, the key goal of House & Senate Republicans is to block the passage of Dem legislation that will expand government and make our economy so much worse than it already is. There is no way for the Pubs to pass legislation that will make things better - and this is true even if the Republicans gain majority in the House in 2010 due to Zero's veto power.

There is another way. One key solution to solving our problems, economic and social, is to get the federal government out of the way. To the extent that this requires positive legislative remedies - such as eliminating capital gains taxes, the depreciation schedule for capital expenses, and Sarbox - these will have to wait until we get a pro-capitalist president instead of a pro-socialist in 2012.

This means we must focus on negative legislative remedies that the Pubs can effect with a House majority right after 2010 and not wait until 2012. They can simply refuse to fund Zero's programs. The Zero Administration is adding some 10,000 new federal employees to government payrolls every month? Eliminate the funding to pay them, requiring that their jobs be terminated.

ObamaCare is passed by the House & Senate and is made law, providing for a government seizure of one-sixth of the economy? Refuse to appropriate the money to fund the administrative apparatus required.

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) wants to conduct a carbon jihad and seize control over the economy by regulating carbon dioxide as a pollutant? Gut the EPA's budget and thus its ability to do so.

NASA and other government agencies continue to conduct climate fraud? Zero out all funding for global warming research.

Thus, in order to gain the support of TeaPartyers and plain normal voters for their candidacy, Republicans wishing to get elected or re-elected to the House should be required to sign The Defund Pledge:

"Should I be elected, I solemnly pledge to my constituents that I will consistently vote to defund, or vote against appropriating any money for, any federal program or activity not specifically authorized by an enumerated power in the United States Constitution. For any federal program or activity I do vote to fund, I will provide the specific enumerated power constitutionally permitting it."

It's the only "purity test" conservatives need.

Just as the "Contract with America" enabled Republicans to gain a House majority in 1994, so the Defund Pledge will ensure they do so in 2010. The voting public is increasingly fed up with the Dems. But they are still wary of the Pubs who refused to shut off the spending spigots during the Bush years.

The Defund Pledge can reassure voters that the GOP will in fact dismantle Democrat fascism by committing to a concrete and simple way to do so: defund the Dem programs and on a Constitutional basis.

It provides the starkest contrast to the insufferably outlaw arrogance of Dems, epitomized by Nancy Pelosi, who when asked where in the Constitution was it allowed for the federal government to force people to buy something (e.g., health insurance), angrily responded, "Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?"

And it gives the TeaPartyers the single uniting electoral message they are searching for. Right now, the TeaParty movement is inchoate, more emotion than focus. As this article points out, "the biggest challenge facing the movement is how to organize hundreds of local groups, and dozens of Tea Party leaders nationwide with divergent interests, into a force that can influence elections."

The Defund Pledge solves the challenge.

And yet... the 2010 elections are next November and the new Congress, presumably with a Republican majority, won't take office until the end of January 2011. The amount of damage Zero and the Dems can do until then is monumental - on top of the damage they have already done this year. How can that be prevented and undone? What can be done now?

The answer is the second D: Disobey. Disobey the Ghandi Way. Peaceful civil disobedience. No violence. Just the refusal to obey fascist and unconstitutional laws.

There are only three federal crimes in the Constitution: treason (Article III section 3), piracy, and counterfeiting (Article I, section 8). Yet Congress has passed laws making over 4,000 activities a federal crime now, and federal regulatory agencies have issued tens of thousands of rules and regulations the violation of which constitutes a jailable offense.

Ever hear of the Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act? Under it, anyone who transports water hyacinths across state lines for "interstate commerce" can be put in jail for six months and fined thousands of dollars.

Suppose a group of TeaPartyers, with press in tow, walked across a state line wearing water hyacinth flowers in their hair, and met another group of TeaPartyers waiting for them who proceeded to buy the flowers for a penny apiece?

The Federal Register contains some 85 thousand pages of rules and regulations, most all of which are unconstitutional. TeaPartyers have a lot to choose from.

Or they could focus on, say, ObamaCare. If it's passed with the mandate to buy health insurance or pay a $1,000 fine - what if tens of thousands, what if hundreds of thousands of TeaPartyers refused to do either? Perhaps a few might be prosecuted - but there is no way all but a tiny fraction could. There are not enough prosecutors nor judges and it would tie the fed courts up in knots.

And that's the goal. For so many people to disobey so many rules that it becomes impossible for the rules to be enforced.

Call this The Revolution of Disobedience. A Mass Movement of Conservative Civil Disobedience that empowers every participant who knows he or she is actually doing something specific and concrete to bring down Fedzilla.

The anger among TeaPartyers is growing to such an extent that one hears "lock and load" talk, implying they are ready to physically fight against the federales with guns and violence. If they have the guts to do this, then surely they have the guts to simply disobey fascist laws non-violently and peacefully, to fight in the courts and not the streets. Yet it's a far safer and more effective way to cripple Leviathan.

Ghandi knew this. He saw where the Brits were vulnerable and went after them with disobedience. After building railroads in India, the Brits couldn't run the place without them. And they couldn't run the railroads by themselves, for they required many thousands of Indian railroad workers. So he persuaded the railroad workers to go on sitdown strikes. They did, the Brits shouted and screamed that such strikes were illegal, Ghandi and the workers said "So what?" - and British rule of India was over.

If the EPA conducts a Carbon Jihad, if the Dems enact a Cap & Tax bill penalizing energy production in the US, it would take no more than 50,000 energy workers to go fishing next winter, shutting down refineries, coal plants, pipelines et al, for the entire east coast to freeze in the dark.

What Ghandi knew - what TeaPartyers need to know - is that the key to success of any mass movement is the opponent's loss of moral legitimacy. The goal, then, of The Revolution of Disobedience is to deligitimize the moral obligation to obey fascist laws.

There is no such obligation - any more than there is a moral obligation not to lie to a mugger holding you up at gunpoint about money hidden on you and not in your wallet. You may have a practical obligation to obey what he says, but no moral duty.

Just like the mugger, Fedzilla may have power and guns - but no moral authority unless its rules and laws are enumerated constitutionally.

How to tell there is no point in trying to improve America's image in this world

President Chavez brought the house down.

When he said the process in Copenhagen was "not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn't that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship...down with imperial dictatorships" he got a rousing round of applause.

When he said there was a "silent and terrible ghost in the room" and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening.

But then he wound up to his grand conclusion - 20 minutes after his 5 minute speaking time was supposed to have ended and after quoting everyone from Karl Marx to Jesus Christ - "our revolution seeks to help all people...socialism, the other ghost that is probably wandering around this room, that's the way to save the planet, capitalism is the road to hell....let's fight against capitalism and make it obey us." He won a standing ovation.

Time to stake out the ground, and stand on it.

What the world does, a world with very different values, a world where those who make it unsafe for jews to walk the streets find superb levels of approval, where newspapers are shuttered, leaders self appoint for lifetimes, and TV stations are bludgeoned to silence ... a world ALIEN to the Founders hopes ... is nothing for us to seek approval from.

It is for us to hold them IN THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE CONTEMPT.

Blackburn and Repubs turn tail to Pelosi in Copenhagen, abandon principle

Nancey Pelosi took a large contingent (on several planes which will cause the oceans to dry up after they swell and flood Cape Cod) to Copenhagen.

There were six republicans alogn including Ms Blackburn

At a press conference when the Repuiblicans asked to speak, THEY WERE ASKED to leave

They did.

What authority does Pelosi have there?
Suppose they had stood up RIGHT THEN and forced Ms Pelosi to try and have them physically removed?

The Republican Party may really be USELESS to change the political milieu and may turn out to be the first victim of Teapartydom.

UN Chief On Copenhagen: 'We will establish a global governance structure'

From Weasel Zippers

LATimes Interview with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

There has been talk of reducing the U.N.'s role in future climate change policy and allowing Western-led institutions to oversee how the developing world spends any money it receives from developed countries. Can there be a deal that excludes the U.N.?

How can you scrap the role of the United Nations? The United Nations has global reach.

The United Nations will be there and should be involved in this implementation process.

One of the principles agreed upon is that all commitments should be reportable, measurable and verifiable. This is what has been agreed by both developed and developing countries.

We will establish a global governance structure to monitor and manage the implementation of this. Experts from both worlds should participate.

Do developed countries owe a carbon debt to developing countries?

Developed countries have political and moral responsibilities, therefore they have to do more, first of all by coming out with ambitious targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and they should be prepared to provide financial support.

We have pretty good agreement on short-term, fast-track financial support in the order of $10 billion for the coming three years. When we agree on a politically binding agreement, this will have immediate operational effect, including financial support from next year.

Does President Obama's decision to attend this week mean a deal is likely?

The U.S. has had very serious, in-depth bilateral engagement with China and India.

And I believe that the fact that President Obama has agreed to participate himself may suggest that the U.S. has some better understandings on what China and India will do. He has been instrumental in changing the political dynamics of this debate.

There is a rumor that Obama will not be attending.

From Gateway Pundit:

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid socialist democrats now rank lower than the Republican Party and the Tea Party Movement.
MSNBC reported:

Just how angry is the public with the country’s two leading political parties? Angry enough that the conservative, libertarian-leaning Tea Party movement is more popular than either the Democratic or the Republican parties, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

The Republican Party maintains its net-negative favorable/unfavorable rating in the poll, with 28 percent viewing it positively and 43 percent seeing it in a negative light.

For the first time in more than two years, the Democratic Party also now holds a net-negative fav/unfav, at 35-45 percent.

By comparison, the NBC/WSJ poll shows the Tea Party movement with a net-positive 41-23 percent score.

MALDIVES: “the Jews” accused of trying to weaken Paradise...

As the Muslims advance, things are deteriorating in Paradise.
While President Mohamed Nasheed today met with the President of the European Commission in Copenhagen, back in the Maldives the focus appears to be enforcing SHARIA and not the rising sea level.

His democratically elected government is persecuting the local Christians and Buddhists and deporting Christian foreigners on mere accusation of missionary activity.

Police have also siezed 65 bottles of vodka in raid and
the debate in the parliament is about a "bill was backed by “the Jews” as part of a long-term plan to weaken the country and introduce other religions."

Ungoofaru MP Dr Afrashim Ali of the DRP, a religious scholar, said MPs were mistaken when they argued a law was not needed to ban a practice forbidden in Islam, as it was necessary to devise regulations to protect Maldivian society from social ills such as alcohol.

He added flaws and imperfections in the bill could be remedied at committee stage.

His DRP colleague, Mid-Henveiru MP Ali Azim said MPs should consider whether such a law was needed and whether it would protect Islam in the country.

“My thinking on this is very different. We have to consider who we are trying to forbid alcohol to. We are trying to make it illegal for expatriates and foreigners who visit the Maldives. I don’t think this is a reason we should make it illegal,” he said.

With the economy reliant on the tourism industry, he continued, it did not make sense to outlaw the sale of alcohol only in parts of the country as this would not prevent Maldivians gaining access to it.

Azim said the bill was backed by “the Jews” as part of a long-term plan to weaken the country and introduce other religions.

Meanwhile People’s Alliance MP Abdul Azeez spoke in favour of the bill and urged MPs to send it to committee, but voted against it. - From Minivan News
