UK: Woman Grabs A Knife To Scare Away Intruders...Police Tell Her It Was Illegal To Carry An 'Offensive Weapon' Even In Her Own Home, Even If Used To Protect Property/Self
From Weasel Zippers:
The UK is so f*cking ass-backwards. I bet if she were a Muslim she'd be allow to carry a knife while walking down the street, protesting the troops, shouting 'death to UK' and carry 'Sharia for all' signs . . .
Miss Klass, a model for Marks & Spencer and a former singer with the pop group Hear'Say, was in her kitchen in the early hours of Friday when she saw two teenagers behaving suspiciously in her garden. The youths approached the kitchen window, before attempting to break into her garden shed, prompting Miss Klass to wave a kitchen knife to scare them away.
Miss Klass, 31, who was alone in her house in Potters Bar, Herts, with her two-year-old daughter, Ava, called the police. When they arrived at her house they informed her that she should not have used a knife to scare off the youths because carrying an "offensive weapon" – even in her own home – was illegal.
Jonathan Shalit, Miss Klass's agent, said that had been "shaken and utterly terrified" by the incident and was stepping up security at the house she shares with her fiancé, Graham Quinn, who was away on business at the time.
He said: "Myleene was aghast when she was told that the law did not allow her to defend herself in her own home. All she did was scream loudly and wave the knife to try and frighten them off.
"She is not looking to be a vigilante, and has the utmost respect for the law, but when the police explained to her that even if you're at home alone and you have an intruder, you are not allowed to protect yourself, she was bemused.
"Her questions going forward are: what are my rights, and what are you actually allowed to do to defend yourself in your own house?"
The Sunday Telegraph's Right to Defend Yourself campaign is seeking a change in the law to provide greater rights and immunity from prosecution for householders in dealing with intruders.

HATE CLERIC Anjem Choudary whose two hate groups have been banned in the UK is given 24-hour police protection because HE could be attacked by far-right groups.
Meanwhile, his group threatens Facebook protester Jo Cleary but the crown refuses to extend security protections for her.
Anarchy indeed.

Pastorius,
If gun control advocates have their way, rather than being safer, the common man will become defense prey for criminals.
Yes, and of course, this story is an ultimate example of that.
Thanks to Anonymous for the additional information. I posted it on another thread.
"Her questions going forward are: what are my rights, and what are you actually allowed to do to defend yourself in your own house?"
nothing you are expected to take what fate has in store for you.
the socialist utopia is breathing down the uk's neck a place where the police dont show up to protect you but to chastise or arrrest you the victim and ignore the criminal/evildooer
If this story were true it would be an outrage. The fact is it is ONLY an offence to have an offensive weapon in public. Of, course a kitchen knife can be wielded in the home. It's just commonsense. Any household object could be defined as an offensive weapon in certain circumstances, ie in public and used to attack someone.
The second point is that this story came from Myleene Klass's agent and is according to reports "not how it was". Neither the police or Ms Klass herself have been quoted on this matter.
Anyone who bothered to read this story in an intelligent newspaper would have found these facts out for themselves. The UK law is stupid (at times) but not THAT stupid.
Hi Ray,
This article is from the Telegraph. I thought that was a responsible newspaper.
Am I wrong?
Do you think her agent is just trying to scare up some publicity?
it has the air of pluasiblity to me, here's why (I still may be wrong)
when I lived in south america my new in laws bought my wife and I our honeymoon it was to cuba.
cuba for tourists is very pretty, well just outisde the edge of the beach of our resort was a farmer older gentleman with horses for rent so me and my bride rented them and he gave us a guided tour up into the cuban hills it was very nice.
anyway one of the things we talked to him about once he was comfortable with us and becuase we spoke spanish (most tourists to cuba when I was there were canadians belgians germans and french,
he told us a how one of his horses was stolen.
well, the police came and took his information, and then gave him a ticket and a summons.
what for you ask?
well this is a socialist utopia dont you know, he was ticketed becuase they considered his horse government property.
he lost government property ( even though he bred and raised the horse) and he was directed to pay back the government for allowing a horse to be stolen. it took him a year to pay the government off.
since cubans are not allowed red meat, its a crime to have red meat, thats for tourists. it probably ended up in a lot of stew pots.
so. he called the police for help becuase he was victimized by theft and the authorities of socialist utopia criminalized him instead.
and that story is why I could believe the one above.
Pastorious:
yes the telegraph should be a responsible paper. Can't remember where I read that it wasn't quite like that.
Well, responsible papers are fooled by press releases all the time, especially now because they are hurting for ad revenue, and have cut so much staff that they just print anything without fact-checking first.
Rumcrook,
That story is insane. I can't even imagine.
Dear Brits, when the time comes to actually spill your guts out all over the ground, do try to not get any on the nice jihadi man's shoes. Clean shoes are a basic human right, doncha know..
LOL
That is funny, but sadly, with our President, we're just as friggin' pathetic as Britain at this point.
