Yeah, I was going to point out the same thing. I don't know why so many have chosen him as a voice of reason lately.

Most people don't remember all his criticism of "neocons" a few years back.

Don't know much about him, but from this interview it sounds like he's an able strategist, which sounds good to some people if they don't know the premises behind the strategy. So he is a "realist" who ignores the reality of what Islam is, which is unreasonable.

Mile wide and an inch deep.

all of his other flaws aside,

for the scope of this interview he was dead on. and maybe a few thousand other people in the u.s. who saw this and were prior inclined to beleieve zerO had our saftey under control will be alarmed, and maybe a little more woken up.

I agree, MR. If he's dead on, he's dead on.

However, check this out:

That Michael Scheuer Sure is One Crazy Jew-Hater

According to a very interesting story by National Journal writer Sydney J. Freedberg, Jr., Michael Scheuer, the man the CIA counted on to catch Osama Bin-Laden, had this to say about Israel:

Israel is not only an unnecessary and self-made liability for the United States, it is an untreated and spreading cancer on our domestic politics, foreign policy, and national security.

In my experience, the only people who refer to Jews, or to the Jewish state, as a "cancer" are the leaders of Hamas, Hezbollah and al-Qaeda. Comparing Jews to diseases or pathogens went out of style in about 1945, in fact. Nice going there, Mike.

Pastorius, can you tell me where in his remarks does he stray or permit any anti Israeli bias to influence his perceptions and attitudes?

He is also critical of the Clinton and Bush 43 administrations. I don't agree with him always, he has sparred with O Reilly but he is a patriot...

Quite obviously, I disagree with his views on Israel but at the end of the day the issue at hand deals with Gitmo, Yemen and Afghanistan, presently peripheral to the Israeli-Gaza matter, West Bank settlements, etc

As a jew let me say I thank Scheurer for his long and arduous work and personal risk for the USA.

However we have to recognize he is of the opinions of isolationists (like Paul?) who believe that NO ENTANGLEMENTS WORK BEST FOR THE SAFETY OF AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Unfortunately, as the distribution of Mcdonald's around the world shows, this is sadly not possible.

He is also quite wrong on one other point ... so long as we make up our own laws, thus 'usurping' gods authority and rightness in some of them, we will make of ourselves a target. The only question is when, EVEN IF THERE WERE NO ISRAEL

Carlos,
I wrote: "If he's dead on, he dead on."

I only point out that we are basically quoting a nut here, because, well, I don't like the idea of this blog quoting nuts.

I agree with Epa above.
