All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.
I support the separation of church and state, but this sounds like a bit much. How could wearing one of these pose a threat to the safety and welfare of others for one thing.
I guess they think, "Well, if we let Christians wear these, maybe Muslims will come to school with swords, and claim it is a religious symbol (as well it is)."
What did they think she was going to do, strangle someone with it? PC silliness. (Are you supposed to wear rosary beads as jewelry, though?) What individuals choose to wear is not an issue unless there is a question of imposition of religion on others. When I was in school 50 years ago no one cared if we wore religious jewelry. But as Muslim pressure increases this sort of unfocused, desperately PC reaction will continue.
It's not usual to wear Roasries as jewelry but not unheard of, either.
Regardless, if this was banned on religious principle then they better not have a fucking turban, skullcap, keffiyeh, hijab or beanie on ANY of those kids.
You both, seem to think this may have something to do with Muslim sensitivity. Truth is we don't know exactly why the school board made this decision. Apparently based on this News Report I found the link to on Wiesel Zippers' web page the school board was worried that rosary beads could be used to signify gang affiliation. So it could just be a case of a zero tolerance policy gone over board, and maybe this has nothing to do with appeasing Muslim sensitivities at all.
I didn't say, it wasn't absurd. But here's something else to think about. Could anything be used to signify gang affiliation? From what I hear some street gangs use colors to signify gang membership while others use tattoos, and still others use sports teams.

I don't know, Damien.

Pastorius,
Yeah, but I sword unlike a crucifix is a weapon, unless of course your talking about demons or vampires.
Hi.
It seems thanks to the example of the leader of America that the hunt is open on all Jews and Christians. But don't say anything wrong about Islam.
We'll take up the slack for everyone else, when it comes to saying stuff about Islam.

Yet another outrage of the day.
Gang affiliation?
LOL
Well, still ...
Think about that; "My gang be down with the homie who forgave those who dissed him, and loved them instead."
