The bitter reality : No pussy=Jihad

Sidney Morning Herald ....gdai:

crotch_loser.jpgThe 23-year-old Nigerian charged with trying to detonate a bomb on a Northwest Airlines flight over Detroit on Christmas Day was lonely and sexually repressed, according to messages left on an Islamic website.

As a US Senate Homeland Security committee continued to argue this week about how to handle Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the emotional anguish in his web posts provides an insight into fanatical Islam and what drives often hapless young men to become suicide bombers. Much as we would like them to be, they are not monsters.

Being the son of a wealthy banker, and living in London, Abdulmutallab had no real beef with Western life, did not complain about racism or express concern for downtrodden Muslim brothers.

But, like the September 11 bombers, who visited strip clubs before their date with destiny, when his devout religious beliefs conflicted with his corporeal desires, he found that blowing himself up along with a whole lot of infidels was preferable to being sexually frustrated.

atta_loser.jpgAs the New York Post put it: "The bomb wasn't the only thing burning in his pants."

On the Islamic Forum of the Gawaher website in 2005 and 2006 were more than 300 posts by Farouk1986 - Abdulmutallab's middle name and birth year.

Under the heading: "I think I feel lonely," Farouk1986 complains he has never found "a true Muslim friend".

"As I get lonely, the natural sexual drive awakens and I struggle to control it, sometimes leading to minor sinful activities like not lowering the gaze.

"And this problem makes me want to get married to avoid getting aroused ... but I am only 18.'' In another post, he writes ''the hair of a woman can easily arouse a man''.

Sexual Frustration.........fighting in the way of Allah?

New York: Muzzammil Hassan Uses "She Was Mean To Me" For Reason To Chop His Wife's Head Off

From Jawa:

"Honor killing" bastage.

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The founder of an Islam-oriented television station who is accused of beheading his wife was abused by her for years, according to his lawyer, who said Friday he will pursue a defense combining that justification as well as psychiatric claims.

Defense attorneys' claims that Muzzammil Hassan was victimized by his wife drew a blunt response from District Attorney Frank Sedita after a hearing Friday.

"He chopped her head off," Sedita said. "He chopped her head off. That's all I have to say about Mr. Hassan's apparent defense that he was a battered spouse."...

U.S. Agents Told Women Believed Connected to Al Qaeda May Have Western Appearance and Passports

From ABC News:

American law enforcement officials have been told to be on the lookout for female suicide bombers who may attempt to enter the United States, law enforcement authorities tell ABC News.

One official said at least two of them are believed to be connected to al Qaeda in Yemen, and may have a non-Arab appearance and be traveling on Western passports.

The threat was described as "current" but not imminent, said the official.

"They have trained women," said former White House counterterrorism official Richard Clarke, an ABC News consultant.

Separately, Britain raised its terrorism threat level to "severe," its second-highest level, days before London hosts major international meetings on how to deal with militancy in Afghanistan and Yemen. Britain's threat level had been labeled "severe" for several years before being lowered last summer to "substantial."

American officials say a U.S. air strike on Christmas Eve against suspected al Qaeda training camps is believed to have killed many, but not all, of a group of suicide bombers being trained in Yemen.

More Threats On Planes

It's an everyday occurrence now.

One wonders if this is a coordinated effort, on the part of Jihadists, to weaken our sense of resolve.
Pilot receives death threat on his mobile phone
"A passenger plane travelling from Germany to Turkey made a safe emergency landing in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki after the pilot received a bomb threat on his mobile phone, Greek officials said. The plane, a Turkish SunExpress aircraft with 69 passengers on board, landed at 1558 GMT and Greek security officials were searching the aircraft before allowing it to resume its journey to Izmir from Stuttgart, Germany. "Someone called the pilot on his mobile phone and threatened him," Greek air traffic controller Panagiotis Hatzakis told Reuters. "The incident was most likely a hoax," he said. "But the pilot was right to land for precautionary reasons.""

Toilet 'death threat' graffiti grounds jet"A plane flying from Germany to Turkey was diverted to a Greek airport after a threatening message was found written in one of its toilets, authorities said last night. The Turkish jet, carrying 68 people, was evacuated when it touched down in Thessaloniki. Police said that the English-language graffiti included the words "will die today".

Walid Phares: Major Nidal Hasan was not flagged because Washington has disarmed its own analysts with ideological blinders.

RIA here but here are the money lines....

  • gadahn.jpgJihadi Penetration: Part of a War - failures were about the military's ability to "stop foreign terrorists from using American soldiers against the United States."

    Such a statement is extremely important, as it finally informs the public that the U.S. personnel roster is indeed being infiltrated and recruited by foreign jihadists, who are described politically by the administration as "extremists." Hence, the first logical conclusion from that finding is that jihadi networks are performing acts of war (and thus of terrorism) against U.S. defense assets and personnel in the homeland. This warrants the reevaluation of the conflict and a re-upgrading of it to a state of war, even though it would still need to be determined "with whom."
  • John_Walker_Lindh.jpgSelf-Radicalization - Secretary Gates said that "military supervisors are not properly focused on the threat posed by self-radicalization and need to better understand the behavioral warning signs." He added that "extremists are changing their tactics in an attempt to hit the United States. Unfortunately, the Bush and Obama administrations were both poorly advised by their experts. They were told, wrongly, that if they try to identify a "doctrine," then they will be meddling with a religion. Academic and cultural advisers of the various U.S. agencies and offices (the majority of them, at least) failed their government by triggering a fear of theological entanglement. To the surprise of our Arab and Muslim allies in the region, who know how to detect the jihadist narrative, Washington disarmed its own analysts when bureaucrats of the last two years banned references to the very ideological indicators that could enable our analysts to detect the radicalization threat.

    seattle jcc killer.jpgAnd it is not about "extreme religious views" as much as it is about an ideology. If Arabs and Muslims can identify it in the Middle East, why can't Americans also? It is simply because jihadi propaganda has already penetrated our advising body and fooled many of our decision-makers into dropping the ideological parameters.
  • The Strategic Threat Ahead -The report raises "serious questions" about whether the military is prepared for similar attacks, particularly "multiple, simultaneous incidents." -- not just in terms of terrorizing the driving jihadi.jpgpublic, but in the framework of a chain of strikes widening gradually until it would evolve to coordinated, simultaneous attacks. In 2006-2007, I served on the then Task Force on Future Terrorism of the Department of Homeland Security and developed an analysis clearly showing the path to come. My briefings to several entities and agencies in the defense sector clearly argued that implanting, growing, and triggering homegrown jihadists to strike at U.S. national security is at the heart of the enemy's strategy.

In facing this mushrooming threat, not only do we lack a detection capacity to counter it, but we have been induced in error to adopt policies opposite to those suitable to our national defense. The misleading advice that the U.S. government relied on is deeply responsible for the failure to stop and counter radicalization.

But even in the face of all this, many show their main concern for is for backlash, which in many cases is an imaginary fear.

Marc Theissen (WH Speechwriter:Bush) rips Ammanpour ON CNN, and Phillipe Sands

Thiessen, who interviewed the 'real Jack Bauers' ...was locked in a secure room and given access to the most sensitive intelligence when he was tasked to write President George W. Bush's 2006 speech explaining the CIA's interrogation program and why Congress should authorize it.

Few know more about these CIA operations than Thiessen, and in his new book, Courting Disaster, he documents just how effective the CIA's interrogations were in foiling attacks on America, penetrating al-Qaeda's high command, and providing our military with actionable intelligence. Thiessen also shows how reckless President Obama has been in shutting down the CIA's program and releasing secret documents that have aided our enemies. Courting Disaster proves:

How the CIA program thwarted specific deadly attacks against the U.S.
Why "enhanced interrogation" was not torture by any reasonable legal or moral standard
How the information gained by "enhanced interrogation" could not have been acquired any other way
How President Obama's actions since taking office have left America much more vulnerable to attack

In chilling detail, Thiessen reveals how close the terrorists came to striking again, how intelligence gained from "enhanced interrogation" repeatedly stymied their plots, and how President Obama's dismantling of this CIA program is inviting disaster for America. from NRO

Here he is with Ammanpour, and and Phillips Sands author of Torture Team.

Never have the issues been so sharply drawn, and more still, never has it been more obvious that there are some Americans who are ready to see Americans die, in a civilization become too civilized to survive, and therefore pass on it's way of living as a valuable contribution to the development of humanity.

Here is what Thiessen said of this in NRO:

Yesterday, I went on CNN's Amanpour to debate Phillpe Sands, author of the book Torture Team.
During the interview, I confronted Amanpour with some of her misstatements about the CIA's treatment of terrorist detainees. She was none too happy.

It aired yesterday (WEDS) on CNN International, and will air domestically on Sunday.

And for a fun update..here is Liz Cheney vs Nora O'Donnell on NBC on a similar vein.

Paris imam backs France's proposed burqa ban

From Reuters:

PARIS (Reuters) – A French imam active in Muslim dialogue with Jews has backed a law against full face veils, parting ways with most Muslim leaders in France urging parliamentarians not to vote for a planned "burqa ban."

Hassen Chalghoumi, whose mosque stands in a northern Paris suburb where many Muslims live, said women who wanted to cover their faces should move to Saudi Arabia or other Muslim countries where that was a tradition.

I believe what we have here is a real live "moderate Muslim".

Death threats ought to begin in five, four, three, two ...

From the Telegraph:

Death threats for French imam who preaches peace with Jewish neighbours

Preacher under police protection after Gaza conflict raises tensions in poor Paris suburb

Hassen Chalghoumi has devoted his life to bringing people together. For years he has preached the values of inter-faith harmony from his mosque in Paris's poor and fractious north-eastern suburbs, working with Jewish leaders, inviting them to his home and urging young people of all religions to embrace harmony in place of hatred.

But today the imam, whose work has been hailed by religious and political leaders, was in fear of his life and under police protection in Drancy after the tensions lying dormant in his community were reawoken by the conflict over 2,000 miles away in Gaza.

Enraged by his determination to show solidarity with the Jewish community at a time when they feel the battle lines are clear, unknown French Muslims have left death threats on his mobile phone. Some have stopped him in the street to warn him he is going "too far". His car has been vandalised and drenched in fuel.

"It is very hard to work for rapprochement in such a climate," he said. "But it has to be done."

This guy is really to be admired for standing up the way he does. A great man.

MSM Says, "Evil Christians Slaughter Innocent Muslims"

From AP:

JOS, Nigeria – Muslim volunteers discovered Friday that sectarian violence in central Nigeria this week extended beyond the long-restive city of Jos and into the burned shell of what used to be a small village near it.

Both Christians and Muslims died during the violence that began Sunday in the central Nigerian city once known as a prime tourist destination in West Africa. The nonprofit group Human Rights Watch puts the death toll among both religions at more than 200. More than 5,000 people have been displaced.

However, as Muslim volunteers arrived in the village of Kurujantar — about 18 miles (30 kilometers)south of Jos — they found corpses shoved three-at-a-time into sewer pits, pushed into communal wells and scattered in bushes. One volunteer held up the charred body of an infant that lay inside a cardboard box.

Nearly all the mud-walled homes in the one-time mining town suffered fire damage or had been destroyed. The central mosque, where residents say both the young and old sought refuge during an attack Tuesday, sat burned, ashes spread across the floor where the faithful once prayed.

Community leader Wardhead Umaru Baza, 58, said Friday that more than 300 were dead from the violence, which lasted seven hours. He said he hid in a hole as rioters armed with new and locally made firearms shot residents in the mostly Muslim village.

But Pastorius, how could you say such a thing?

Because they aren't peaceful. Here's how the violence started:

In Jos city, Plateau state, about 200 Muslim youths attacked Christians near St. Michael’s Catholic Church, according to local sources of Christian Solidarity Worldwide. The human rights organization reported that Muslim youths congregated to renovate a house next to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, owned by a man who allegedly killed three Christians in the November 2008 sectarian violence in Jos.

But instead of renovating, the youths reportedly assaulted a female passerby before attacking St. Michael’s Church. They also set fire to several churches, including a Christ Apostolic Church and two Evangelical Church of West Africa churches, as well as local houses and businesses.

In retaliation, Christian youths launched a counter-attack, including lighting mosques on fire, and soon violence spread to other areas of Jos.

Seriously, what do you think the Christians should have done, turn the other cheek? Invite the crazed Jihadists into other churches, so they could burn them down too?

For once, Christians fight back (as they ought to do if they want their churches, their Bibles, and their culture to remain in existence), and they are criticized for it.

Christians must fight for their continued existence, if they are given no other choice. If they don't fight, they are not protecting their families, and the future of the spread of knowledge about their God.

Now, Even Geithner Is Questioning Obama's Fiscal Policy

From Reuters:

Geithner aired concern on bank limits-sources

WASHINGTON/NEW YORK, Jan 21 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has expressed some skepticism behind closed doors about the broad bank limits proposed on Thursday by his boss, President Barack Obama, according to financial industry sources.

The sources, speaking anonymously because Geithner has not spoken publicly about his reservations, said the Treasury chief is concerned the proposed limits on big banks' trading and size could impact U.S. firms' global competitiveness.

He also has concerns that limits on proprietary trading do not necessarily get at the root of the problems and excesses that fueled the recent financial meltdown, the sources said.

Roger Simon comments:

I don’t think it’s accident that the Stock Market is tanking after a very short rally that coincided with the then coming victory of Scott Brown. The business world is scared – as is evidently our Secretary of the Treasury who has wandered about as far off the reservation as cabinet officers normally go, allowing the world to know his skepticism about Obama’s new reining in of the banks. (How long before Geithner goes under the bus now?)

The scary thing is that many of us believe the President hardly knows much of anything, certainly not economics, and is surrounded by an increasingly paranoid and defensive group of advisers. It’s shades of Nixon, but worse. Tricky Dick, at least, knew what he was doing and could accomplish things.

Obama is the biggest windbag to ever ascend to the presidency. He has no idea what he is doing and now things are getting rough. Frankly, I’m worried for our country because this man doesn’t really understand what the public is telling him. He just thinks we’re “angry.” He’s wrong – we’re furious and we’re furious because he blames everyone but himself and seems psychologically incapable of taking responsibility.

The alternative to capitalism is socialism and it has never worked. Not once, in all its myriad permutations. In fact, it most often hurts those it was intended to help, bankrupting the society and leaving the lower classes destitute. The Soviet Union collapsed.

China was deeply impoverished until it turned essentially capitalistic .

Everybody knows that now, and has for years, except maybe our president. He’s after the banks and is so clueless he thinks that will impress us. Of course, it won’t. Nobody believes anything he says anymore. But he is the President and he can take executive actions. And with those actions, like a wounded animal, he may pull all of us down with him. I am deeply afraid of that because Barack Obama has never had to deal with any personal adversity in his adult life. He has lived a completely privileged existence. This is a first for him. There’s no telling how he will behave.

The Liberal Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg is not on board with Obama's attack on the banks either:

Mayor Mike Bloomberg lashed out at Obama’s reform proposals, calling them economic doom for his city and an end to the US as the center of Western finance. Expect layoffs by the boatload if this passes, an angry Bloomberg told reporters yesterday:

President Barack Obama’s demand Thursday that Congress clamp down on the size of banks and their investments got major blowback from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who said it could cause layoffs and hurt the city.

It’s a clash between the president and the mayor. President Obama wants to whittle away at the size of the financial services industry. …

The mayor was so upset about the move — and a suggestion that Wall Street bonuses be put in escrow, which means the money wouldn’t be spent here, wouldn’t help the city economy — he responded with a proposal of his own for members of Congress.

“Maybe we should hold back their salaries for a decade or so and see whether the laws they pass work out,” Bloomberg said.

The mayor also demanded that the members of our congressional delegation go to the mat to protect the financial services industry, much like senators from Texas protect the oil industry.

Mayor Bloomberg also said that limiting the size of banks will hurt their competitiveness in the global economy.

The Corner has an enlightening running debate at their site today on how exactly these reforms would have stopped the 2008 financial collapse. The consensus among supporters and dissenters is that they wouldn’t have even applied to that crisis, a conclusion that the White House essentially corroborated with its response to Reuters:

The White House official said Obama’s economic team considered the concern that proprietary trading was not at the heart of the problems that fueled the financial crisis. But it concluded that reform needed to be about more than just fighting the last war, it needed to address sources of future risk as well, the official said.

Mencken, Islam, and Political Correctness

Guest Commentary by Edward Cline:

Two months after the John Scopes “monkey” trial of July 1925, H.L. Mencken, writing for the Baltimore Evening Sun, took to task two prominent publications, the New York World and the New Republic, for castigating Clarence Darrow, chief defense counsel of Scopes, over his conduct during the trial. The World was infuriated by Darrow’s brutal cross-examination of William Jennings Bryan, the state’s star counsel against Scopes, an experience which humiliated Bryan and is thought to have contributed to his death later that same month. The New Republic objected to Darrow having made the issue of evolution vs. the Bible a national, rather than merely a local one, even though the trial was broadcast on radio..

What drew Mencken’s ire was the World’s position that one’s religious beliefs, should be respected and not subjected to criticism or satire.

Once more…I find myself unable to follow the best Liberal thought. What the World’s contention amounts to, at bottom, is simply the doctrine that a man engaged in combat with superstition should be very polite to superstition. This, I fear, is nonsense. The way to deal with superstition is not to be polite to it, but to tackle it with all arms, and so rout it, cripple it, and make it forever infamous and ridiculous. Is it, perchance, cherished by persons who should know better? Then their folly should be brought out into the light of day, and exhibited there in all its hideousness until they flee from it, hiding their heads in shame….True enough, even a superstitious man has certain inalienable rights. He has a right to harbor and indulge his imbecilities as long as he pleases, provided only he does not try to inflict them upon other men by force….*
Mencken, an agnostic -- “Myself completely neutral in theology, and long ago resigned to damnation” -- practiced what he preached. No religion was safe from his biting wit and unbridled contempt. He was an uncompromising enemy of blind belief in assertions, especially religious ones, that contradicted evidence and reason. When they showed their heads, he picked them off with all the skill of Alvin York picking off German soldiers during World War I. Mencken was an intellectual marksman.

Two things about the Scopes trial are noteworthy. First, Mencken wrote that Scopes should have been charged with teaching evolution in defiance of Tennessee’s ban. He argued that since Scopes (actually a high school gym teacher filling in for another teacher) was an employee of the public school, he should have obeyed the ban and the school‘s directives. The second thing is that the trial was intended to be a deliberate test of the state’s constitutional authority to impose such a ban, orchestrated by a businessman, George W. Rappleyea, as a means of boosting the fortunes of Dayton, where Scopes lived and taught. Scopes agreed with Rappleyea to discuss evolution in his classroom and to persuade students to report him to the authorities, and even volunteer as witnesses against him.

The state, Bryan, and other religionists took the bait.

Darrow, at the trial (working on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union), changed his strategy from one of defending Scopes’ and any other teacher’s right to teach evolution as a form of freedom of speech -- the irony was that evolution was explained in the state-mandated textbook used by Scopes -- to one of casting doubt on the veracity of the Bible. Bryan, a Presbyterian Fundamentalist, insisted that the Bible should be accepted as the literal truth, recorded verbatim by its saintly scribes as the word of God himself, regardless of evidence and reason.

Mencken covered the trial for the Evening Sun. Although Scopes was found guilty of teaching evolution (and was fined $100, which penalty was overturned by the state’s supreme court), Mencken applauded the airing of the conflict between science and religion. If any men deserved respect, he wrote, it should be the men of science who had expanded man’s knowledge of the universe and contributed to everyone’s well-being, and not the beliefs of those who reject the evidence of their senses in favor of the unprovable. He reserved a poignant disgust with men of science who upheld any brand of religion, and wasted no politeness on them.

What is there in religion that completely flabbergasts the wits of those who believe in it? I see no logical necessary for that flabbergasting. Religion, after all, is nothing but an hypothesis framed to account for what is evidentially unaccounted for. In other fields, such hypotheses are common, and yet they do no apparent damage to those who incline to them. But in the religious field they quickly rush the believer to the intellectual Bad Lands. He not only becomes anaesthetic to objective fact; he becomes a violent enemy of objective fact. It annoys and irritates him. He sweeps it away as something somehow evil.**
Mencken might have been less confounded by the appeal of religion, especially among prominent men of the mind, had he examined more closely the role of religion as a morality and not exclusively as a transparent hash of absurdities, whether in the Bible or in practice. To my knowledge, he never took that approach. So he remained an intellectual marksman, never becoming a general able to direct the battle against superstition, mysticism, and other brands of anti-intellectualism. He never solved the paradox of the power of belief to anaesthetize that part of the minds of otherwise rational men, the part which requires a morality by which to conduct one’s life, and render it reason-proof against all logic and evidence. (That task remained to be achieved by one of his admirers, Ayn Rand.)

That being said, Mencken would have found the whole phenomenon of modern political correctness intolerable, inexhaustibly amusing, perhaps even perilous. He was vehemently opposed to any suggestion that he be told what to think and what to write. Doubtless he would have excoriated those who claim that Islam should be respected and that Muslims be exempted from criticism or mockery of their creed, and lambasted the politically-correct as well as Islam and its practitioners. As he was able to, in his own time, cite chapter and verse of the Bible, he would have mastered the Koran and Hadith in order to expound on their irrational and heinous character.

As propinquity would have it, Muslims just the other day offered an example of what he would have burned holes his typewriter ribbon exposing as unnecessarily sacrosanct, “sacerdotal,” and a candidate for ribald and deserved offensiveness. The National Association of Muslim Police in Britain (NAMP) has lodged a complaint against the government for “stigmatizing” Islam and Muslims in its anti-terrorist program, one which, on one hand, “reaches out” to Muslim communities, but on the other uses it to ferret out real and potential terrorists. The London Daily Telegraph reported:

There have been growing concerns about the radicalization of Muslims in Britain. The failed Detroit bombing on Christmas Day was carried out by an al-Quaeda-inspired extremist who had studied in London.
Mencken might have asked: How can one “radicalize” a Muslim when he is already “radicalized” by his creed? The creed requires a follower to swallow the Koran and Hadith whole, or not at all, in which case he would become an apostate and subjected to some nasty thuggery, a la the Ku Klux Klan (Mencken was particularly hostile to the Klan and its religious mantra). There is no pick and choose, or mix and match, no half-doses of belief in Islam, as there is Christendom, as the numerous varieties of faiths and sects in it attest.

And, what is an extremist but a Fundamentalist of the Bryan kind? It is a believer who is consistent and carries out the tenets of his faith, just as hundreds of his ilk swarmed to Dayton in hopes of seeing Scopes roasted on the spit of righteousness and served up to God with the apple of Eve stuffed in his mouth. What could be a moderate Muslim, but someone who imbibes but a quarter measure of Islam, then, like a once-a-week Christian, gets on with the practical matters of living, leaving moral approval of his conduct to mullahs, priests, imams bishops, and other prestiditators?

The Daily Telegraph quoted from NAMP’s “memorandum”:

“The strategies of Prevent [the program’s name] were historically focused on so-called Islamist extremism. This has subjected the biggest black and ethnic minority community, and second biggest faith group, in an unprecedented manner, stigmatizing them in the process. Never before has a community been mapped in such] a manner…It is frustrating to see this in a country that is a real pillar and example of freedom of expression and choice.”
Mencken would point out that, first, this is a hilarious instance of political ventriloquism. Having a knowledge of British-Muslim tensions, he would ask how these policemen could adhere to their creed’s diktats, proscriptions, and belligerencies against non-believers, and at the same time uphold “freedom of expression and choice.” He would connect that with how non-Muslim Britons can be charged with “hate speech” if they so much as insinuate in print any criticism of Islam, Muslim behavior and mores, and the dervish-like pirouettes of Sharia law.

How, he would ask, can they reconcile freedom of expression -- which no one seems to dare take advantage of -- with the campaign by various Muslim groups to smother it and leave non-believers with no choice but to comply and say nothing lest a howl of indignation be heard from the “persecuted“ minority? He would recall seeing signs, on the occasion of the Mohammad cartoon demonstrations, that read, “To hell with freedom of speech” and other placards which brandished similarly offensive and hateful imprecations that damned what the NAMP complaint cited as commendable “British values.” How is it that this band of Muslim brothers is so sensitive to the “insensitive” remarks of non-believers, yet is insensitive to the extinction of those “British values”?

He would then point out that the NAMP objection includes the implication that to “stigmatize” Islam and Muslims is to also to single out Muslims by race. This is a low tactic calculated to guarantee silence, and to leave the authorities sputtering denials and preemptive apologies.

Finally, Mencken would point out the glaringly obvious oversight -- if oversight it was -- that the overwhelming majority of terrorist attacks over the last twenty or so years were carried out by, well, Muslims, and that these manqués were obeying the nihilistic imperatives of the Koran, urged on with the advice and blessings of their parish sheiks and imams, and enabled by training and funds provided by sinister Middle Eastern regimes and organizations of a distinctly Islamic character. How is it, he would ask, that so many mosques, where the dullard faithful perform their degrading obeisances in the direction of a rock, also serve as dens of iniquity and crèches of crime? What means this “stigmatizing” recrudescence?

Mencken might have included a disquisition on the purported purity of Islam: “Islam is a creed not so pure as is alleged, certainly not as comparatively pure as the Christian and Hebrew varieties. It is a hodgepodge of the doctrines and practices of the Christian and Jew, as well as those of pre-Meccan pagan faiths of which little is known. Its essential content and color were borrowed liberally but surreptitiously from virtually every permanent and ephemeral species of animism in the region of its origin, and knocked together into the Koran and Hadith by Mohammad and his successors by sword and terror -- somewhat in the way the Bible came down to us after centuries of casuist strife and Pecksniffian quibbling.”

Let Mencken, however, end this commentary in his own words, which could have been written about politically-correct speech and the attempted diminution of freedom of speech today by secular leftists, religious rightists, and Islamists. His subject was the desire of Christian Fundamentalists of his day to suppress all criticism of religion.

The common doctrine that religious ideas have a sacrosanct character and are not to be discussed freely and realistically, even when they take the form of schemes to oppress and intimidate those who reject them * in this doctrine I can see nothing save a hollow bombast. Whenever it is entertained human progress is immensely retarded. Nor is there any appreciable gain for religion itself. It becomes the common enemy of all enlightened men, and soon or late, watching their chance, they rise against it and try to destroy it utterly. History is full of examples * and there is not a single compensatory example, at least in civilization, of a theocracy that has endured….To swathe religion in immunities, either by law or by custom, is simply to prepare the way for its corruption and destruction.***

From the Astute Bloggers:
A very eye-opening development has come up in the case involving the Global Revolution Church, which betrayed Blake and Beverly Lorenz: Brian Smith, one of the heads of the church, and Omar Tarazi, the CAIR lawyer for the Bary parents, are now facing charges for embezzling and mail tampering. Among some of the details here:
Perhaps the most disturbing element to the crimes committed by Brian Smith, Tom Sanchez and Jeff Parker is that they have illegally embezzled and/or misappropriated funds sent to the church from all over the country by Rifqa's supporters intended for Rifqa’s legal defense fund. The Orlando law firm overseeing her defense fund, Fowler, O'Quinn, Feeney & Sneed, confirmed this week that they have not found any records of EVER receiving any monies from Global Revolution Church sent to the church designated for Rifqa’s legal defense. I have been provided copies of checks sent to the church designated to Rifqa's defense fund, confirming that monies were in fact received, but never forwarded to Fowler, O'Quinn, Feeney & Sneed.

Anyone who sent checks to the Global Revolution Church or transferred money through the church's PayPal account since August for Rifqa's defense is encouraged to contact the Orlando Police Department at 321-235-5300 (complaint desk) to report the funds missing.

The “Judas Three” are also facing federal mail tampering charges. After the trio engineered a church leadership coup and fired the Lorenzs back in September, they intercepted personal mail intended for the Lorenzs sent to the church post office box. Instead of forwarding the mail to the Lorenz’s in accordance with federal law, they sent the mail to CAIR attorney Omar Tarazi, who is representing Rifqa's parents in Ohio. Tarazi, knowing that the mail had been illegally obtained, then attempted to use this purloined correspondence to sabotage negotiations with Rifqa's legal team, making him an accessory after the fact to the Judas Three's felonious mail tampering. Additionally, Tarazi never notified postal authorities of the crime as required of an officer of the court. The mail tampering was attested to in an affidavit submitted to the Ohio court last month by Blake Lorenz (see earlier post)
I expect following this that Tarazi will be disbarred from law practice, and the Ohio court dealing with the case will make sure not to allow CAIR officials to represent any more cases dealt with there. As for Smith and his 2 cohorts at the church, this is truly disgraceful that people in service of the Lord were stealing people's money. It will likely deal a blow to Global Revolution Church's credibility as long as they're under the management of the Judas Three, whom I hope will spend time in prison for assisting in potentially endangering the life of a girl fleeing an abusive family.

UPDATE - Anonymous comments:

Would it not be reasonable to assume that this mail might include letters of support for Rifqa and the Lorenz's, and that SOME of those supporters might well be former muslims themselves or those who are planning a future escape?

And since snail mail typically includes a return address, this situation may be dangerous for more people than just Rifqa...

Poll: 77% of US Investors Say Obama is "Anti-Business"...

From Weasel Zippers:

The worst and potentially catastrophic idea Obama wants to enact is the new bank tax which will place a levy not on earnings, but on the money institutions lend out. So if a bank lends a business $1 million the federal government would tax the $1 million (how and why is lending money a taxable event?), doesn't take a genius to figure out banks will drastically curtail their lending which could cripple any economic recovery....

Jan. 22 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. investors overwhelmingly see President Barack Obama as anti-business and question his ability to manage a financial crisis, according to a Bloomberg survey.

The global quarterly poll of investors and analysts who are Bloomberg subscribers finds that 77 percent of U.S. respondents believe Obama is too anti-business and four-out-of-five are only somewhat confident or not confident of his ability to handle a financial emergency. The poll also finds a decline in Obama’s overall favorability rating one year after taking office. He is viewed favorably by 27 percent of U.S. investors. In an October poll, 32 percent in the U.S. held a positive impression.

Hamas Implements Full-Blown Saudi-Style Sharia In Gaza

I hate to say it, but this is what happens when you give an already radicalized Muslim country the right to vote.

The same thing would happen in Egypt were they given the vote. Elections are a dangerous weapon in the hands of such people.

From Alexander Munch via Israel National News:

In November 2009, ISS (Israel's internal security service) issued a Report describing how Hamas has instituted Islamic law and thought in all areas of Gaza life since its violent takeover of the area. Should Israeli security forces withdraw from Judea and Samaria, it is a safe bet that the implementation of Shari’ a law now unfolding in Gaza will follow the same path.

The Report's main points include...
. the enforcement of a dress code for women on the street, in schools and in the courts;
. the expulsion of female students from schools who do not wear a head covering and wide dresses;
. instructions to judges not to hold sessions if female lawyers do not appear in Islamic garb;
. a requirement on official Hamas TV (Al-Aqsa) that women announcers must wear a veil, and that Islamic content must be featured in its TV programs;
. men not being allowed to swim in the ocean without a shirt;
. a prohibition against female mannequins being exhibited in shop windows;
. a prohibition against mixed-gender public ceremonies;
. a prohibition against men teaching in girls' schools. (Efforts are also being made by Hamas to separate boys and girls in the UN-run schools);
. Fatah-identified teachers being replaced by Hamas members;
. Hamas police arresting immodestly clad women and enforcing gender separation;
. unmarried couples being prohibited from appearing in public;
. married couples being required to produce a marriage certificate upon demand;
. religious studies classes being added to schools, mosques and prisons with the stipulation that prisoners who become more religious can have their sentences shortened;
. an across-the-board 1% public sector pay-cut imposed during the summer months to pay for summer camps for reviewing the Koran;
. increased construction of mosques, madrasses and Islamic Shari’ a courts;
. the establishment of an Islamic National Bank and an Islamic insurance company; and
. a new criminal code based on Shari’ a law. (In June 2009, the Legislative Council passed amendments to the criminal code for the purpose of "preventing immoral incidents in public.")

Obamacare Dies, ..next up BERNANKE?

The election of Scott Brown means that unless the House adopted the Senate Health Care Bill letter for letter, a new vote requiring 60 votes would be needed in the senate.

Pelosi now admits, that cannot happen. DOA, and a hope for common sense and cooperation including the two main ideas of Demint and the repubs... free, open competition of health care plans nationally in all states, and tort reform. I would HOPE substantial negotiation would allow for many democratic objectives if both of these would be included. It would also have one more minor detail attached.... IT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO THE PEOPLE.

Next .. Bernanke..

Amidst the voter anger at Wall Street and Washington, D.C., ABC News has learned that the Senate Democratic leadership isn't sure there are enough votes to re-confirm Ben Bernanke for another term as chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Bernanke's term expires on Jan. 31.

The White House did not respond to many requests for comment.

"The American people are disgusted with the greed and recklessness of Wall Street," Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said in an interview with The Associated Press last month. "People are asking, 'Why didn't the Fed intervene at the appropriate time to stop the casino-type activities of large financial companies?'"

Sanders, Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., and Sen. David Vitter, R-La., have all put holds on Bernanke's nomination, requiring 60 votes to proceed to a vote.

Voter anger is of heightened concern to members of Congress given the surprise victory of Sen.-elect Scott Brown, R-Mass., who rode a tide of voter discontent and economic anxiety to an upset victory in a special election earlier this week.

Last month, the Senate Banking Committee voted in favor of Bernanke's nomination by a vote of 16-7, not exactly a reflection of overwhelming positive feelings towards the Fed chair given the fact that he was first appointed in 2006 by President George W. Bush and nominated by President Obama for a second term last August.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., at one point was planning on scheduling a vote on Bernanke for Friday, but the Senate is currently in the midst of a debate over raising the debt limit and the vote has been pushed.

I smell a scapegoat coming, Justified or not. Bernanke REPRESENTS what too many of the people despise right now.

Irresponsible, nation threatening debt.

Irresponsible printing and automagic money creation.

Irresponsible expansion of govt power

Congress MIGHT be awakening to a dawn where this is not going to be acceptable, or they find themselves ex-congressmen and ex-senators.

The World as it is, NATO member deploys anti aircraft missiles, Russia UP it's NAVY?

Russia will strengthen its Baltic fleet in response to U.S. plans to deploy Patriot missiles in Poland, Russian state news agency RIA reported on Thursday, citing an unnamed senior navy official.

"The surface, underwater and aviation elements of the Baltic Fleet will be strengthened," RIA quoted the unidentified Russian navy official as saying.

The United States is dispatching the missiles to Poland after dropping an earlier plan to deploy interceptor missiles in the NATO nation as part of an anti-missile system in Europe.

"In connection with the plans to install the Patriots on Polish territory in the next 5 to 7 years, there may be significant changes in the approach to define the tasks and the military potential of the Baltic Fleet," RIA quoted the same source as saying.

A spokesman for the Russian navy declined to comment.

Warsaw said this week it would station the Patriot missile battery in the northern city of Morag, near Russia's Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad.

A high-ranking source in Poland's Foreign Ministry said Warsaw was not overly concerned about Russia's reported plan.

"Let's stay calm. Such strengthening, even if it becomes true, is no direct threat to Poland," the source told Reuters.

"The Russians have known about the Patriots for at least two years. So there is no reason to react to unofficial comments."

This would be as if Chavez adds missiles which can be used against F-18's and SCUDS and we respond by adding submarines.

It tells us more about how Russian leaders think about events, rather than how they can respond effectively, for this is surely a WTF.

Many Poles still view Russia, its communist-era overlord, as a potential security threat, especially after the August 2008 conflict in Georgia.

Moscow has expressed concern about what it calls U.S. military encroachment and threatened to respond to any change in the current military balance on its western borders with NATO nations.

President Dmitry Medvedev had previously warned Moscow would station Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad if Washington went ahead with its original anti-missile plan. U.S. President Barack Obama's decision to revise it pleased the Kremlin.

But the plan to install Patriot missiles has resurrected longstanding Russian suspicions about the motive for the strengthened NATO presence near its borders, said Alexei Fenenko of the Institute of International Security Studies in Moscow.

"Russia was very concerned about the anti-missile system being installed in Poland and the Czech Republic and didn't understand the need for it in these locations, if it was intended against Iran," he said.

'You must not defend yourselves with weapons which can be used only against our weapons and only if they have already launched against you, it makes us suspicious.'

You have to wonder if they have a clue.

Great news! Barack Obama is going to double down.

The more Barack Obama is Barack Obama, the more the electorate is going to turn on him.

In November 2009, my radio co-host, the Fu2rman and I, endorsed Barack Obama for President?

Why? Because we thought McCain would be a horrible President, and we thought, "If we're going to have a horrible President, better their guy than ours."

Additionally, I made the point that, if Barack Obama was the radical I believed he was, the American people would eventually reject his ideas with just as much radical force as Obama himself chose to exert.

We have seen this happen, but it is only the beginning.

Barack Obama is bringing a clarity to the National Political Dialogue that I have never seen in my lifetime. The last time there was so much clarity, that I know of, in American history was WWII.

So, go for it, Barack. I love you just the way you are.

From Gateway:

If you thought the shocking democratic loss in Massachusetts would sway the radicals in the White House, you would be wrong. Barack Obama’s political arm, Organizing For America, sent word out yesterday that the president’s determination and resolve to push the far left’s radical agenda is “only stronger” following Tuesday’s loss.

From an OFA message to supporters yesterday:

Yesterday’s disappointing election results show deep discontent with the pace of change. I know the OFA community and the President share that frustration.

We also saw what we knew to be true all along: Any change worth making is hard and will be fought at every turn. While it doesn’t take away the sting of this loss, there is no road to real change without setbacks along the way.

We could have simply sought to do things that were easy, that wouldn’t stir up controversy. But changes that aren’t controversial rarely solve the problem.

Our country continues to face the same fundamental challenges it faced yesterday. Our health care system still needs reform. Wall Street still needs to be held accountable. We still need to create good jobs. And we still need to continue building a clean energy economy.

The President isn’t walking away from these challenges. In fact, his determination and resolve are only stronger. We must match that commitment with our own.

But it won’t be easy. Real change never is.

Former Malaysian PM: 9/11 Was Staged And Avatar Proves It - Also Says "Holocaust Failed as a Final Solution"

Great Moments In The History Of Islam

From the Star:

KUALA LUMPUR: There is strong evidence that the Sept 11 attacks on the United States that killed nearly 3,000 could have been “staged” as an excuse to mount attacks on the Muslim world, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Show of support: Dr Mahathir greeting Wael A. Saqqa, a participant from Jordan, at the conference in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

“I am not sure now that Muslim terrorists carried out these attacks. There is evidence that the attacks were staged.

“If they can make Avatar, they can make anything,” the former prime minister told a press conference here yesterday after delivering his speech at the General Conference for the Support of Al-Quds to aid the Palestinians.

Raise you hand if you're a Muslim and you are embarrassed by this shit.

UPDATE - Wait, there's more (thanks to Total):

“The Jews had always been a problem in European countries. They had to be confined to ghettoes and periodically massacred. But still they remained, they thrived and they held whole governments to ransom.

“Even after their massacre by the Nazis of Germany, they survived to continue to be a source of even greater problems for the world. The Holocaust failed as a final solution,”
said the outspoken Malaysian leader who was noted for his anti-Western and anti-Zionist stand while in power for 22 years, until October 2003.
Once again, I say it, raise you're hand if you're embarrassed by this shit.

Chicago Argues to Void 14th Ammendment To Protect Weapons Ban

From Jawa:

The question of whether and to what extent state and local gun regulations are constitutionally permissible is a question of the highest importance for both gun control advocates and gun rights supporters—and one that is about to be decided by the Supreme Court. In McDonald v. Chicago, the city of Chicago is defending its gun control measures against a challenge by petitioners who argue that the city’s handgun ban violates their right to keep and bear arms—a right, these petitioners argue, that is protected against state and local government infringement by the Constitution’s 14th Amendment. However one feels about guns, anyone who cares about fundamental rights protection should be wary of the argument the city makes in its brief.

In the city’s attempt to preserve its weapons ban, it proves too much, essentially urging the Supreme Court to find that protection of the Bill of Rights and other fundamental liberties against state infringement has no basis in constitutional text or history, and is instead achieved solely by judicial implication. To make matters worse, Chicago’s brief makes common cause with precedent that has been properly labeled by civil rights leaders as “among the most misdirected in the history of the Court”
