All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.

Rick Perry
I have said, from the beginning that Rick Perry is our only hope of beating Obama. I base this upon my experience/learning in Advertising/Media/PR. Americans vote for the person who tells the story about America (about themselves as Americans) that they want to hear.
I think with last night's debate, wherein Michele Bachmann officially melted-down with her Vaccines = Autism remarks, we are clearly left with Romney vs. Perry.
So, if that is your choice, who would you want to win?
Who do you think could win?
Do you think Romney tells a story you want to hear? Do you think Romney's personality embodies the American mythos?
My opinion: NO FUCKING WAY!
It's either Perry, or we lose.

As an 'infidel blogger' one would think that a potential presidential candidate who insists that 'islam is a religion of peace' even years after the 9/11 ISLAMIC TERROR attacks you might want to perhaps take a bit of pause before proclaiming Rick Perry our only hope.
Just sayin.
Why is it that we can't get a candidate who recognizes that islam's intentions for us are NOT benevolent?
Sorry about the bad grammar, I got interrupted by one of the kids here. My point is that islam is NOT a 'religion of peace' and we should not be so quick to jump on the bandwagon for a politician who insists that it is.
I am still pissed that GWB pushed that line & was duped into letting so many isllamic supremacists infiltrate our gov't.
Hey Pasto....whatever happended to John Bolton....CLEARLY the most quallified for the position.
Allen West wouldn't take the job if you gave it to him on a silver platter....John Bolton is the next best choice, although he doesn't win the "pretty boy" contest or the "most popular" contest.
AS we all know, Americans are shallow people and fickle as hell....so they will vote for Perry because they like his hair.
Right?
Tell me I'm wrong!
The more I hear about Perry, the more I hope someone else becomes the candidate.
Anonymous,
I like Bolton too. But, I don't think the conditions are right for him to be elected. In my opinion, the only way a guy like Bolton or Allen West would/could be elected is in the wake of a massive and terrible Jihadist attack.
Zilla,
My opinion is this: Perry is electable. Bachmann is not. No other boutique candidate (like Bolton or West) is electable either. Not at this time.
Therefore, calling Perry a "stealth Jihadist candidate (which let's face it, is an attempt at a death blow in our culture/parlance) is dangerous. He is the only candidate who can win. That's my opinion. Let's see if I am wrong.
Perry will beat Romney for the very reason you stated above. Then he'll beat Obama.
Recall if you will, George H. Bush calling Reagan dangerous and his plan "Voodoo Economics"?
A lot of the anti Perry stuff floating is instigated by the Democrats who don't want to face him in the general election.
I agree, LL. In fact, Pamela's story about Perry and the Aga Khan was from a Leftie source.
Perry is weak on the Islamic threat and very weak on illegal immigration. To me he seems like Bush 3.0, or maybe John McAmnesty Jr. No thanks.
But unfortunately they don't allow foreigners like me to vote in American elections. Although I doubt that will stop thousands and thousands of illegal aliens voting for Obama in Nov. 2012.
I think Romney is a better bet than Perry. He's better on immigration and seems much more knowledgeable about the economy than Perry. He also exudes competence and is obviously highly intelligent, even if he is somewhat liberal. In contrast, Perry comes across as a bit of a dumkopf, which the media would have a field day mocking in contrast to their "genius" hero Obama. They could never make Romney look stupid compared to O.
One other reason to favour Romney over Perry is geography. I think that changing demographics will force the GOP to start winning in the still mainly white northern and middle states or go out of business permanently. California voted Republican 9 times out of 10 between 1952 and 1988. Now, thanks to the mainly Mexican immigration invasion, it's a solidly Democratic state, at least in presidential elections. The same demographic changes are happening in Texas, and just like Cali it will inevitably turn Democratic. Not in 2012 but soon enough. And as Texas follows California due to the shrinking white demographic, so Florida, Georgia, Arizona and other mainly Southern states will follow Texas.
The GOP has to get back to its roots as the party of the North. That's where all their future potential voters (i.e. white people) are going to be. So rather than nominate yet another drawling Southerner, they should nominate someone who can appeal to the Northeast, Midwest and Northwest. And since Romney has ties to Massachusetts, Michigan and Utah, he might be able to appeal to all three regions.
wow, completely wrong on all acounts jeppo, but were all intitled to an opinion.
I find it hard to believe that Perry would be weak on Islam, but my sensors are up and I will be evaluating him.
Right now, he's my favorite to win. Bachmann's anti-vaccine tirade turned me off.
Thank you for your comments jeppo. I don't like either, but your comments were interesting.
IMO, Perry can beat Obama. Perry may well be the only announced candidate who can defeat Obama.
Now, Perry does have some flaws. I'm particularly concerned about his position regarding our borders.
Yes, Perry is soft on Ismaili Islam. But the Ismailis are an "enlightened" and secular-leaning sect (in comparison to other sects).
The Texas curriculum -- the portions I've read -- are no different from curricula used all over the United States. Well, in some parts, the Texas curriculum is better than the one used here in Northern Virginia. All the big textbook publishers are corrupted.
AND
IMO, Perry as POTUS would be so much better than Obama as POTUS.
FURTHERMORE
There is no ELECTABLE candidate running who "gets it" about Islam.
Zilla: Why is it that we can't get a candidate who recognizes that islam's intentions for us are NOT benevolent?
I say: Because the "big boys" in the hierarchy of both parties control a lot, and they don't get it about Islam.
