He layed with the Mississippi Sheiks early in his career disappeared/worked on a plantation for many years then was rediscovered early in the 60s during the whole folk and blues revival thing that "brought back" such greats as Son House and Skip James and Mississippi John Hurt.

He may also have been Charlie Patton's half brother.

I'm telling you dude, this is great and influential stuff.

But you already know that :)

There's that thing about the AUTHORITY of blues on a single steel string guitar just that tiny, tiny bit OUT of tune that informs the author is more interested in the music than the instrument.

I never heard of this guy.
