FARS:

Supreme Leader: Iran to Continue Support for Palestinian Resistance

TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined the significance of the Palestinian issue for Iran, and stated that Tehran will continue its support for the Palestinians and their resistance against the Zionist regime of Israel.

Speaking at a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniya here in Tehran on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran regarded the issue of Palestine as its own problem and reiterated that Tehran was steadfast in its positions to sincerely back the Palestinian nation's resistance.

The Leader said that support of Islamic nations for the Palestinian Islamic resistance gives depth to the activities of resistance groups.

Ayatollah Khamenei further warned that any act which might undermine resistance trend could tarnish the future and stressed that all should be vigilant towards penetration of liberal elements into the resistance groups.

During the meeting, Haniya appreciated Iran's support for Palestine, stressing that Palestine regarded the Iranian nation as a source of moral support.

Iran has always voiced support for anti-Israel resistance movements.

Earlier this week, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah stressed that Iran has played a key and vital role in the victories of the Lebanese and Palestinian resistance movements in recent years.

Addressing a ceremony in Beirut on Tuesday on the occasion of anniversary of the birth of the holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the 33rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Nasrallah stated that the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran gave "momentum to the project of Islamic unity".

He lauded Iran's support for the Lebanese resistance group, and noted, "Hezbollah has received from Iran the moral, political and financial support in all its available forms since 1982".

"This support is a pride of the Islamic republic, because the resistance has achieved the most prominent Arab victory over the enemy. This victory wasn't to be achieved without Iranian support, and Syria had a big role in the victory."
