FBI captures an attempted jihadist in Chicago

Another special operation for catching attempted terrorists in the act nabs another attempted jihadist:
CHICAGO (AP) - FBI agents have arrested a man they say planned to set off a car bomb outside a bar in downtown Chicago.

Federal prosecutors say 18-year-old Adel Daoud was arrested Friday night in an undercover operation in which agents pretending to be extremists provided him with a phony car bomb.

The U.S. District Attorney's Office in Chicago said in a news release Saturday the device was inert and the public was never at risk.

Daoud is a U.S. citizen from the Chicago suburb of Hillside.

He was charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to damage and destroy a building with an explosive.

Federal prosecutors say the FBI began monitoring him after he posted material online about violent jihad and the killing of Americans.
So he was a homegrown terrorist? That makes him another example of homegrown jihadism, and explains why even homegrown terrorists can be very dangerous.

Egyptian Salafis Call For Release Of Sheik 'Omar 'Abd Al-Rahman From U.S. Prison, Chant Antisemitic Slogans

It seems that bad actors in both Egypt and Libya decided to agitate for the release of Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman, aka the “Blind Sheikh.” This is a longstanding cause for al Qaeda and other militants – even though it is inconceivable that Rahman will be released and terrorism on his behalf is itself, in many ways, a pretext.
Rahman is a widely revered character in jihadist circles, having issued fatwas that repeatedly led to terrorism. Osama bin Laden credited Rahman, a long-time friend and ally of al Qaeda’s deceased master, with issuing the fatwa that condoned the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Rahman is serving a life sentence in an American prison for his role in 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which prefigured 9/11, and a follow-on plot against New York City landmarks. Rahman’s spiritual guidance directed those terrorists.
Atlas reader M adds this:
On the morning of September 11, 2012, CNN foreign correspondent Nic Robertson filed a piece on a supposed ‘peace plan’ from Mohamed al-Zawahiri, the brother of al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Zawahri takes Robertson on a tour of the protest site, and clearly states that the focus of the protest is the imprisonment of Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman (a.k.a. the ‘Blind Sheik’), who is serving a life sentence in US prison for his role in organizing the 1993 World Trade Centre bombings. Robertson also talks to Rahman’s son, who states the same aim.
What is remarkable is that this tour happened before the September 11 Cairo protests that turned violent – the same violent protests that we were later told were spontaneous protests over the ‘offensive’ video of Mohammed posted to Youtube in July. This was not a spontaneous, unorganized protest.

Police in Australia at Muslim anti-freedom riot in Sydneyhere.
The anti-freedom riots come to the West -- one reader wrote me,
"Here in Sydney Australia we saw your interview on Fox and Friends.  Thank God you articulate what so many of us know to be true.

Earlier today my city of Sydney was overrun by psychotic, foaming-at-the-mouth muslims violently protesting against us infidels. The riot was an extension of the Middle East uprisings, supposedly avenging the 'offensive film'.  Police were beaten and bloodied, the Muslim rage was deafening and what I witnessed today was truly unsettling.  We've never seen anything like it here in Australia."

I had always wondered what was with the scar on Obama's head. My own private joke to myself has been that he had a lobotomy, or a chip implanted in his head to communicate with aliens who are directing the destruction of this Earth from beyond.

But, those are just my own private jokes.

Here is a plausible, if still, perhaps, very hard to believe explanation. Plausible because, yes, this would have produced scarring (possibly - children, however, do not scar like adults), but hard to believe because, well, you'd think this idea would have been proposed and researched by someone by now, wouldn't you?

A story:
At the time that Obama went through this ceremony, he was not known as Barack yet, he was known as Soebarakh.

On the Day of Ashura, a ritual calledTatbir (also here), was performed where a dagger was used to cut Obama’s scalp from ear to ear1— leaving that telltale, damning keloidal scar which runs from ear to his crown to his other ear(View more pics of these scars at bottom of this page).Tatbir is performed every year on the 10th day of Islamic month of Moharram (roughly month of November), known as the Day of Ashura.
When seeing the bloody pictures of the men who celebrate this holiday, it does not appear as though the cutting occurs all the way from one ear to the other; it looks like the cuts are made on the top of the head. But it is interesting to note how big the scar that Obama has really is. It goes into his neck, in fact.

Newsboy Post has been expecting Obama to describe his ‘Tatbir’ experience; but until he does, we have pictured a Shi’ite Muslim child as he bleeds after he was cut on the head with a dagger during a ceremony marking Ashura. Ashura is the most important day in the Shi’ite calendar, and commemorates the death of“Imam Hussein”, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, in the 7th century Battle of Kerbala.
Afterwards, Obama dropped the useage of his Indonesian surnames, his adopted one, Barry Soetoroand Soebarakh(our favorite); and for the first time began going by his latest alias — Barack Hussein Obama II.
After examining numerous photographs taken by official White House photojournalist Pete Souza, it appears extensive efforts are made to prevent any scar-revealing photos from being released. Of interest to our investigators, is the appointment of Arun S. Chaudhary; a trusted Pakistani Muslim slugged the “YouTube Guru,” who produces all White House in-house propaganda videos and who we feel is instrumental in the video scrubbing of the head scar. We’re also looking into Obama’s longtime barber,Zariff (uses one name), a Muslim who believes 9/11 was an inside job. And despite Obama’s declared deep Christian devotion, he’s shown his dedication to diversity by surrounding himself with Zariff and countless other Muslims in the White House.

The real trickle down fallacy, the Fed creating liquidity will not help this economy as it is

More available cash for mortgage securities the Fed buys from TBTF banks who will not lend to anyone or any organization which has less than 720 credit, or some other like number (and apparently the USA no longer merits such a grade) doesn’t do a thing.
If I come up with an idea for a new software application, no bank will loan me the money to support myself while this comes to fruition no matter how great a business plan I flash. I will not be able to hire technical programmers, or data base back end SQL guys. Effect of Bernanke’s QE = 0. Cash remains in bank.
If I work with an engineer who has an idea for a piece of GEAR, and we BOTH put up our homes and have 720 credit, maybe we can create a prototype, which will then be produced in Shenzen by the modern equivalent of indentured servants. Once production goes into effect we can then lay off 90% of our design people and applied EE guys. Bernanke’s QE effect = 2 richer people, others with a job for a year, ZERO manufacturing jobs.
If I have a business making hot water heaters (maybe made in Brazil, unless you are American Water Heaters in Johnson City, TN) and the Fed increases the cash held by Goldman Sachs why would I increase production via loan from them when Bernanke’s added liquidity cannot be used by more than few homeowners to replace old water heaters, and the others cannot afford it unless it totally fails? When the number of buyers with requisite credit scores to buy new homes with new hot water heaters is too limited to justify expansion, why do anything? Let’s just reduce inventory to minimum levels.
Large businesses will NOT take a chance with their professional, ethical and legal responsibilities to their stockholders when customer demand is not there.
Small business cannot AFFORD to.
So how will Bernanke’s added liquidity stimulate demand?
This is the question the Fed should be asking. Is there any doubt why the large businesses of Wall Street, and the brokerages are happy about Bernanke’s move? More cash for them. More cash = more security. More cash = more lubrication for risk. More risk = more profit at point of sale. But what is produced? Who is benefitted?
Short term benefit for the economy can only come from CONSUMERS having the cash and temperament to spend SOME OF IT.
Long term benefit can ONLY come from real fair trade among nations whose EQUAL AND FAIR working conditions make individual productivity the competitive criterion for the location of the means of production.
So Ben, how will you put more cash in the pockets of consumers who will then feel secure enough to buy a FEW things?

SAN FRANCISCO | Fri Sep 14, 2012 6:04pm EDT
(Reuters) - Google Inc rejected a request by the White House on Friday to reconsider its decision to keep online a controversial YouTube movie clip that has ignited anti-American protests in the Middle East.
The Internet company said it was censoring the video in India andIndonesia after blocking it on Wednesday in Egypt and Libya, where U.S. embassies have been stormed by protestors enraged over depiction of the Prophet Mohammad as a fraud and philanderer.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed in a fiery siege on the embassy in Benghazi.
Google said was further restricting the clip to comply with local law rather than as a response to political pressure.
"We've restricted access to it in countries where it is illegal such as India and Indonesia, as well as in Libya and Egypt, given the very sensitive situations in these two countries," the company said. "This approach is entirely consistent with principles we first laid out in 2007."

DER SPIEGEL: US President Barack Obama’s Middle East policy is in ruins

But here, all the news is about Mitt Romney’ supposed incorrect behavior, when he correctly identified the objectively craven statement from the US Embassy as craven.
“US President Barack Obama’s Middle East policy is in ruins. Like no president before him, he tried to win over the Arab world. After some initial hesitation, he came out clearly on the side of the democratic revolutions. … In this context, he must accept the fact that he has snubbed old close allies such as Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Egyptian military. And now parts of the freed societies are turning against the country which helped bring them into being. Anti-Americanism in the Arab world has even increased to levels greater than in the Bush era. It’s a bitter outcome for Obama.”
“Obama was naive to believe that one only needed to adopt a new tone and show more respect in order to dispel deep-seated reservations about the free world. In practice, the policies of the Obama administration in the region were not as naive as they may have seemed at times, and the Americans have always been much more involved in the Middle East than the passive Europeans. But Washington has provided the image of a distracted superpower in the process of decline to the societies there. This image of weakness is being exploited by Salafists and al-Qaida, who are active in North Africa from Somalia to Mali.”
“One thing is clear: If jihadists believe they can attack American installations and kill an ambassador on the anniversary of Sept. 11, then America’s deterrent power has declined considerably. For a superpower, it is not enough just to want to be loved. You have to scare the bad guys to keep them in check.”
You have to scare the bad guys to keep them in check?
Did I just read them saying…..

Jewish refugees from Islamic countries deserve justice too

Dror Eydar's written about a conference he took part in about Jewish refugees from Arabic-Islamic countries, whom nobody at the UN's ever asked be compensated for the horrifying abuse they received in past periods in their former residences before being violently exiled:
At the beginning of the week I had the chance to take part in a rare historic event: the first official conference on the issue of Jewish refugees, held under the auspices of Israel's Foreign Ministry in cooperation with the World Jewish Congress. The international conference was titled "Justice for Jewish Refugees From Arab Countries." For the first time in decades, the call for justice for the Jewish people was once again heard in Jerusalem. Not just a call for security, or apologetic Israeli discourse in the face of Palestinian calls for so-called justice, but a clear call, by Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to bring the issue of Jewish refugees back into every international arena: the ethical, legal, diplomatic and political arenas.

As one of the conference participants, former Canadian Minister of Justice Professor Irwin Cotler, said: “Where there is no remembrance, there is no truth; where there is no truth, there will be no justice; where there is no justice, there will be no reconciliation; and where there is no reconciliation, there will be no peace – which we all seek.” Indeed, this is a serious issue that has been neglected and kept silent for years, in stark contrast with the Palestinian refugee issue, which has become self evident and universally recognized in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Palestinians have become experts at marketing their victimhood to the world, and thus, the concept of a “just solution” became unilaterally linked to the Palestinian narrative. But just like every aspect of the Middle East story, here, too, the truth is far more complex.

With the exception of a few years prior to World War I, the Arabs living in this region never accepted the Jewish presence here. They rejected the various partition plans, ranging from the Peel Commission in 1937, through the 1947 Partition Plan, to the Oslo Accords and other generous Israeli offers. They were always willing to accept land, but never to sign a final agreement that would spell the end of the conflict.

"Middle East Protests: Violence Could Spread To U.S; FBI, Homeland Security Joint Bulletin Puts First Responders On Alert"Huffington Post
Now, a U.S. intelligence bulletin, issued by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, warns that such extremist violence could become a domestic problem as well.
While the bulletin makes no mention of specific threats, ABC News notes it does caution first responders to be "aware of the potential for spontaneous large crowds and protests that could overwhelm resources." Personnel should also "be vigilant for possible efforts to encourage peaceful protesters to commit acts of violence."
"Additionally," the bulletin continues, "we judge that violent extremist groups in the United States could exploit anger over the film to advance their recruitment efforts."
"Although there has been no violent reaction to the film in the Homeland thus far," a copy of the bulletin obtained by CNN states, "the risk of violence could increase both at home and abroad as the film continues to gain attention."
According to ABC News, the warning also requested "faith-based organizations to promptly report suspicious activities that could indicate pre-operational plotting against Jewish, Coptic, Islamic, or any other faith-based communities."

    The riots reach Jerusalem

What began in Libya and Egypt is now reaching Israel as well, as Muslims go on rock-throwing sprees and tried to attack the US embassy here too:
Jerusalem police clashed with hundreds of Muslim youth Friday after they stormed out of prayers atop the Temple Mount in the direction of the Damascus Gate. Police said the rioters were on their way to the US consulate, presumably to protest against a film denigrating the Prophet Mohammad, which has already sparked mass protests in Libya, Egypt and Yemen, resulting in the deaths of four Americans.

The youths threw stones at the police officers, who responded by firing stun grenades to disperse the rioters.

A number of officers were lightly injured from smoke inhalation. Forces arrested four of the rioters.

Police were prepared for the possibility of riots in Jerusalem, as Border Police and other patrol units fanned out across the Old City ahead of traditional Friday prayers.

Despite an awareness of potential violence, police did not announced restricted access to the Temple Mount. Often if serious rioting is anticipated only men over age 40 are allowed to enter.

In a rare move, the US State Department on Thursday issued a travel warning for Jerusalem, urging American citizens to “defer nonessential travel and exercise caution.”

Also Thursday, around 50 activists gathered outside the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, chanting “God is Great” and waving the green flags of the Israel Islamic Movement. Attorney Zahi Nujeidat, spokesman for the group, said that the protesters came from across Israel to the embassy to “express our rage about this despicable movie that has harmed the honor of our prophet.”
It's good if the police here were prepared for what could happen. However, their failure to place an age restriction at the Temple Mount was definitely ill-advised.

By the way, it says in this article:
The protests began peacefully with several hundred people demonstrating on the plaza that holds both the Al-Aqsa and Dome of the Rock mosques, chanting, "With our blood and our soul, we will sacrifice for you our Prophet."

But clashes broke out between a part of the crowd and Israeli police as the demonstration moved out of the Old City, with security forces firing tear gas and stun grenades that injured at least five people, an AFP correspondent said. Several policemen were reportedly hurt.
How can it be "peaceful" if they said they're willing to self-sacrifice, to say nothing of trashing their own futures?
In Gaza, thousands of people rallied at demonstrations in Gaza City and the southern town of Rafah, a day after the ruling Hamas party urged citizens to turn out for protests after Friday prayers.

Protesters waved the flags of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements, and set fire to American flags, chanting "Death, death to America, death, death to Israel."
If there's no embassies in the Gaza strip, there's a reason for that.

Ayatollah Khameini Gets In On The Act

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei Blames US, Zionists For Anti-Islam Movie – Demands Justice

    From Gateway Pundit:

Thousands of Iranians joined protests today condemning the US, Israel and the anti-Islamic film clip (ISNA)
Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei lashed out at US and Zionists for the anti-Islam movie that offended the sensibilities of Muslims around the world. Khamenei called for mass protest and justice for those who offend Islam.
    Fars News reported:
Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday blamed the US and the Zionists for the sacrilege of Muslims’ Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in a movie made by an American-Israeli man, and called on Washington to punish those behind the blasphemous act.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Iranian supreme leader said the US and Zionists’ hands can be seen behind the move, and said if Washington statesmen claim to be not involved in this sacrilege of Islam and Islamic values, they should punish those who have designed and orchestrated the move.
“The filthy hand of the enemies of Islam once again revealed its deep-rooted malice by insulting the Grand Prophet [Mohammad] (PBUH) and with an insane and deplorable measure showed the fury of the evil Zionists at the daily-increasing radiance of Islam and Holy Qur’an in the present world.
