The meaning of today

The reason we celebrate today is because back in our founding days, we had the courage and bravery to fight. That courage and bravery is gone. When people are asked about going out and protesting, they come up with a million excuses for not doing so. If we had had that attitude back then, we would be curtsying the queen.

Those who fought and died for our independence, would not be proud of us today. We have allowed our government to get away with far too much. A lot more than they would have been able to stomach.
We have an administration that is going out of their way to take away our constitutional rights. They are slick. But, they also know that we are apparently weak and are unwilling to do anything about it.

This administration is only the most recent in a long line of government abuse. Our government has gotten so big, so egotistical, that they are NOT a GOVERNMENT BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE.

Watching what the Egyptions have done twice, has made me feel really embarrassed for our people. Seems to me, we are willing to just go from one election cycle to the next without doing a thing. Apparently what happens during those years to our country and to us, isn't really all that important.

The citizens of Egypt were not willing to wait and watch their country be destroyed and their freedoms get taken away, while waiting for the next election.

No matter if you agree with why they did this, it should still be a lesson to us.

It can happen here. If only people would dig deep and find the courage that we once had.

We are suppose to be the land of the brave. I think the Egyptions have now taken control of that title.

I'm positive some people won't like what I have said. But sometimes the truth hurts.

I'm not sure they're as much afraid as ignorant and lazy. Perhaps willfully so in some or many cases.

A large part of this I blame on the media. And not just the news media, but the stupid TeeVee shows that dumb everyone down. Why bother looking up the truth, search for answers to what's going on, when you can sit and be mindless watching American Idle?

And too is the whole I Me Mine attitude. What's in it for me what can I get out of it?

So many don't know their own histories how do we expect them to know anything larger?

How can we expect them to care when they are far more worried about getting the next biggest boobtube hanging on the wall? or worse those millions out there who are worried about how they are going to put the next meal on the table for their families?

It has become too easy for too many t be spoon fed information and stuff and not question any of it. What it costs their fellow citizens now and what it cost their forefathers in blood and spirit to allow us to grow into (STILL!) the most powerful nation on earth.

But I would disagree with the premise that we are no longer the land of the brave. Whether you are a lowly anonymous blogger, a giant named Breitbart, a member of a Tea Party group or one of the greatest of patriots who gave life or limb in Afghanistan or Iraq there is still plenty of bravery out there. It is too often drowned out by the din of the dumbing down.

I won't say that there are not "those" who are brave. We have plenty of brave individuals.

What we need is a brave citizenry.

I wonder sometimes what it would/will take to wake up our population.

It is really sad.

AOW ..AWESOME.

Sorry Christine, but I no longer believe it can happen here the way you expect or think. I think people, people who might develop into entrepreneurial leaders, inventors, true good govt servers, might have become military leaders will simply be vacated of desire to achieve and work as hard as they might. This includes the supremacy in financial services of the QUICK BUCK transaction as being a valid and supreme institution as a MAIN SYMPTOM of this disease.
It's why Obamas get elected.
It's why we don't care about the border.
A belt sander has been taken to american ethics. We can see and smell the sawdust, but no one knows the previous form, or surface.
We're not even sure how much has been removed.
We only know something is missing.

Only a large and external event can intervene, and we can see how temporary was the result of NY and Washing being DIRECTLY attacked.
