"Energy Spent Commenting On The Failures Of The Obamacare Website Misses THE LARGER POINT ... Socialism is Economically Destructive and Morally Corrosive"

Very important points here:

Any energy that is put on the failures of the ObamaCare web site to handle the signups misses the bigger point. Socialism is economically destructive and morally corrosive. We will rue the day that we let a President - who has shut down WW II memorials to spite veterans during a budget crisis -lay the groundwork for some future tyrant to shut down nursing homes to pressure the public into getting his way.

Václav Havel was a playwright, essayist and poet. He was also the last President of Czechoslovakia before it was broken up into the Czeck Republic and Slovaka.

He lived under suffocating socialism. He found it to have a horribly corrosive effect on humanity. In his famous essay, Power of the Powerless, he wrote:

“...[Socialism] touches people at every step, but it does so with its ideological gloves on.
This is why life in the system is so thoroughly permeated with hypocrisy and lies: government by bureaucracy is called popular government; the working class is enslaved in the name of the work ing class; the complete degradation of the individual is presented as his ultimate liberation; depriving people of information is called making it available; the use of power to manipulate is called the public control of power, and the arbitrary abuse of power is called observing the legal code; the repression of culture is called its development; the expansion of imperial influence is presented as support for the oppressed; the lack of free expression becomes the highest form of freedom; farcical elections become the highest form of democracy; banning independent thought becomes the most scientific of world views; military occupation becomes fraternal assistance. Because the regime is captive to its own lies, it must falsify everything. It falsifies the past. It falsifies the present, and it falsifies the future. It falsifies statistics. It pretends not to possess an omnipotent and unprincipled police apparatus. It pretends to respect human rights. It pretends to persecute no one. It pretends to fear nothing. It pretends to pretend nothing.
“Individuals need not believe all these mystifications, but they must behave as though they did, or they must at least tolerate them in silence, or get along well with those who work with them. For this reason, however, they must live within a lie. They need not accept the lie. It is enough for them to have accepted their life with it and in it. For by this very fact, individuals confirm the system, fulfill the system, make the system, are the system.”
READ THE WHOLE THING.

Until the website which is the portal to the final pricing of each individual's actual cost, and revelation of subsidy levels is apparent, there will be NO realization of the actual horror.

If the web never functions as it should... IT'S OVER BEFORE IT STARTS.

The signal achievement of this administration will have been that they cannot even manage a large IT project.

Yes, AND I think part of the point of this quote is that the inferior execution of bureaucratic operations in a Socialist system is part of the Moral corrosiveness.

See what I mean?

Why care anymore when nothing really ever works right. It's just not fucking worth it.

I think we have been conditioned (whether it was meant to be that way or not) to EXPECT IT.

WE PRETEND TO WORK AND THEY PRETEND TO PAY US

EPITAPH for another society, and a warning of a quick end for this one.

DARK AGES APPROACH WARNING
