The approaching cataclysmic failure of leadership and presidency of the United States on or about October, 17 2013

First, the reality.

The House of Representatives, and the Senate correctly and accurately represent the division, partisanship and bitter relations within the USA. They are who they are and they represent with FIDELITY who and what we are.

That leaves the president as the leader of the executive branch. He is elected by the electoral college’s weighting of populous states and rural states.

It also leaves the Supreme Court which is also a twice removed representation of us all across a generation of elections. However, their impact as leaders is nil.

Early Thursday morning, Potomac Research Group analyst Greg Valliere predicted that if the debt-ceiling deadline grew closer, President Barack Obama would play his “trump card” in the debate. He would remind seniors that if Congress doesn’t raise the debt ceiling, seniors wouldn’t get their Social Security checks.

"GOP strategists like Karl Rove surely know that it’s just a matter of time before President Obama throws a game-changer — warning senior citizens that their Social Security checks won’t be mailed because of John Boehner," Valliere wrote in a note to clients. 

A few hours later, Obama did just that during a speech at M. Luis Construction Company in Rockville, Md. He spent much of the speech warning that while the ongoing government shutdown was damaging, failure to raise the debt ceiling by an Oct. 17 deadline would be even worse.

"In a government shutdown, Social Security checks still go out on time. In an economic shutdown — if we don’t raise the debt ceiling — they don’t go out on time,” Obama said. “In a government shutdown, disability benefits still arrive on time. In an economic shutdown, they don’t.”

The president elected to LEAD THE NATION THRU CRISES believes that if he can place blame for a calamity outside himself, and his party, that defines success.

However, if this occurs, it will define the utter failure of the democratic majority, the president himself personally, and this kind of self government in a divided and faction ridden society.

The president’s job is to FIND THE WAY THRU, not win the next election by placing blame. If SS checks stop, seniors stop spending and then require support from families, this will not go unremarked or unnoticed by future historians. And by future I mean 5 years.If contractual obligations in terms of bonds, and treasuries are not met this world will suddenly be a very different place.

Obama says that he won't negotiate over raising the debt ceiling, calling it Congress' responsibility.

The Congress is not made to lead. It is made to argue and compromise. If it cannot find that compromise on its own, and the issue is critical, the President has the responsibility to FORGE THAT COMPROMISE at any cost.
