“Without the American safety net, Israel could now defy U.S. expectations and attempt to deal with emergent threats preemptively, disproportionately, and entirely unilaterally”

"Achieve the opposite of his plans".

Given his friendship with known anti-Semites, his appearance with Rashid Khalidi, his appointment of Muslims Brotherhood officials to White House position, I question whether the ends are opposite of what he wants to achieve.

I think Israel ought to question whether Obama is trying to set them up.

What do I mean by that?

You have to wonder if Obama is trying to set Israel up so they have no option other than to attack Iran, so that Obama can then use that attack as a pretext for war against Israel.

I wouldn't worry so much about Obama's plans. The way they've panned out in the past, the guy is prone to shoot himself in the foot whenever he tries something.

If Egypt was still ruled by Morsi and MB scum, I would be worried about Obama's plans for Israel. But as things stand, Obama is ending up isolating himself both locally and internationally.

I agree with you, Nico, that Obama's plans don't work out very well, as is demonstrated by Obamacare.

BUT, IN THE LONG RUN, Obama's plans for Obamacare ARE GOING TO WORK OUT.

Because part of his plan was simply to set up the system to fail, and use that failure as a reason/excuse to absolutely remove the free market component from the equation.

He's winning at that game.

Likewise, this plan will backfire, because there will be war. But he will use that war to blame the Jews.

If history tells us anything, it tells us that blaming the Jews is a very effective strategy for scum, and scum can win the day for periods of time and can cause incredible destruction in those short periods of time.
