Lamar Alexander inquired about Murthy’s social media comments on firearms, such as this tweet before the 2012 presidential election: “Tired of politicians playing politics w/ guns, putting lives at risk b/c they’re scared of NRA. Guns are a health care issue.”Murthy’s Twitter timeline is chock-full of his anti-firearms screeds.“NRA press conference disappointing but predictable — blame everything in the world except guns for the Newtown tragedy. #wakeup,” he tweeted in December 2012.Doctors for America has also promoted the invasion of privacy by doctors by allowing them to ask patients if they have guns at home, including asking children if their parents own guns, and pushing back against Florida Gov. Rick Snyder’s decision to sign into law a bill prohibiting doctors there from asking the question.

I'm assuming this individual must be put to a confirmation vote in the Senate?

This doctor is a 36 year old kid who finished his residency in 2006. He is being brought forward by Obama for the sole reason that he is a rabid anti-gun activist. When the progressives wanted to go after Cigarettes they brought in C Everett Koop to permanently campaign against smoking in his doctor's uniform. Obama wants to accomplish the same against guns with this twit as his point man. I'm sure it helps that he looks a lot like celebrity "doctor" Sanjay Gupta.
Now that Harry Reid has fucked the rules of the Senate he can be brought up for confirmation without the 60 vote cloture hurdle.
Harry Reid has won repeated elections in Nevada in large part due to his consistent "A" rating and endorsement by the NRA.
No doubt Reid will fuck the NRA now that he doesn't need them and shove this asshole through the Senate.
Rand Paul has managed to put a hold on the nomination due to the guy's obvious lack of any qualification. I doubt it will hold. Without the filibuster the Senate is nothing but a third-world banana republic dictatorship run by a malicious partisan psychopath.
The only hope we have is to hound the shit of our Senators, particularly Demoshits up for reelection in reddish states.
Actually I would bet ANYTHING that there is a special category of record for those who react with vigilant rejection of the question.

So this fellow is unqualified? What does that matter? So was Obama when he ran for the presidency: less than three years in the US Senate spent almost entirely running for the next step. What matters is that you're a dedicated party stalwart.
