THAT WE MIGHT VERY WELL HAVE A PRESIDENTIAL RACE IN 2016 CONSISTING OF
CLINTON
VS.
BUSH?
That's Totalitarian, Monarchical, Divine Right of Kings Bullshit.
It is NOT Democracy.
These people are not the most qualified people to lead America.
They are Inheritors of the Mantle.
They are Postmodern Royalty.
They are the Approved - approved by a System which is already hard at work and successfully destroying America.
They are the Inheritors, approved by the same people who brought us the last 30 years (Bush, Clinton/Gore, - Gore - Bush, Obama, et al) of moving further and further away from our American values, of refusing to recognize our enemies, BUT INSTEAD IMPORTING THEM AND CALLING THEM CITIZENS.
These are the same people who are trying to destroy the 1st Amendment (with laws about Tolerance, with the prosecution of an idiot who made an "anti-Islam film", with UN treaties declaring defamation of religion to be a crime)
These are the same people who are trying to destroy the 2nd Amendment (just think Connecticut and all the other Obamanations)
These are the same people who are trying to destroy the 4th Amendment (NSA)
Americans will not tolerate it any more.

America can not tolerate it any more if America wants to remain the worlds beacon of opportunity and individual self-determination. The people of this nation will either reassert their love for this unique destiny or they will acquiesce to absorption into the old world order. The hour is now, time is short. By 2020 we will know the outcome.
I ask this same question every day.
Damn.

UGH!!!
We've been saying this here for a very long time now.
No one is listening.
Maybe we need to say it louder...
The importance of family connections in politics isn't a new thing. Consider:
-- John Adams and John Quincy Adams
-- William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison
-- The Longs in Louisiana
-- The LaFollettes in Wisconsin
-- The Kennedys in Massachusetts
-- The Gores in Tennessee
-- The Daleys in Chicago
...and no doubt there are others. What's pernicious is the notion that only from such "established" families are we permitted to select those who will govern.
So far, that's true less often than not...but I must admit, another Clinton or Bush presidency would be pushing me, at least, a step too far.
Hi Francis,
Thanks for your comment.
I'm surprised you left out the Roosevelts.
It sounds like we are pretty much in agreement, but I will still point out some things about your list:
1) The gores, daleys and longs are all state/city phenomenon.
2) Adams' were very early in our history when, perhaps, much of the population still had a monarchical impulse
3) the Roosevelts and the Kennedy's clearly appeal to the worst in our natures, even if they did achieve good things. FDR in particular arose at a specifically "progressive" time in our history and his appeal was born of that impulse and his excesses on that front are a really terrible time in our history. He and Wilson would have had us turn into an American USSR, I believe. Or maybe I should just say they were the DeBlasio and Bloomberg of their time.
