US and Canada ONLY Developed Nations to Offer Birthright Citizenship, UK, France, Ireland Threw Out the Law
"No European country grants birthright citizenship to any person born on its soil."
OF COURSE NOT. European countries grant citizenship by lines of blood, not places of birth. And I believe they even went further than that to protect their citizenship. I understand that when Switzerland imported people from other continents they made them sign some kind of contract specifying their children would not have Swiss citizenship. I just heard of this. Have no proof.
But European countries have a reversed problem. People born in other countries are able to claim European citizenship because of their parents' or grandparents' places of birth.
It is adults who do this in countries in turmoil or with an iffy future, should they need to emigrate. I see it as an equivalent of the "anchor babies" born to wealthy foreign parents who come here to deliver their children. It is some sort of insurance for the future.
