The One where Mexico SUCKS EVEN MORE because they WILL NOT distinguish between immigration and ILLEGAL INVASIONS

El Universal is a national paper in Mexico with a paper circulation of >180,000. I have no idea how large their digital presence is.
Today this appeared:
From Trump to Trump: American Nativism
This is a screed PURPORTING to be not just another in the long line of indictments against Trump as a racist, but one of AMERICA AND AMERICANS.
Because historically, we hate immigrants.
Since its foundation at the end of the 18th century, the U.S. has lived through a number of episodes of this kind.
From 1880-1924 TWO MILLION ITALIANS LEGALLY
The following is from a FRENCH historical text (emph mine)

The United States is a society of immigrants. Since its early days, the country has admitted more than 50 million newcomers, a larger number of immigrants than in any other country in history. Most people came, and still come today, for wealth, land and freedom

Between 1840.  and 1880, new European groups migrated to the United States. During this period, 10 million people came to America LEGALLY
With the end of the Mexican-American war (1846-1848), 80, 000 Mexicans in Texas, California and the Southwest were given American citizenship. LEGALLY
A new wave of immigration began in the late 1880s. Millions of the new immigrants poured into the U.S from Eastern and Southern Europe and from Mexico. They included Slavic people like Russians, Poles and Ukrainians,
Mediterranean groups like Italians (because of overpopulation, poverty and natural disasters in the 1910s), Sicilians, Greeks, Turks and Armenians and religious groups like the Eastern European Jews (because of the Pogroms against Jews in Russia between 1880 and 1906). These TENS OF MILLIONS arrived here LEGALLY.
Did this cause friction? YOU BET and SO WHAT? Welcome to earth. However, nothing has changed in our POLICY towards those who wish to come here LEGALLY and become AMERICANS.
In 1965, the United States revised its immigration laws and eliminated all race-based quotas, making it possible for millions of new immigrants to enter the country (especially from the Third-World)
The newest immigrants include tens of thousands of people from the Caribbean, South and Central America, West Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia. These people seek work and economic, political and religious freedom. Some flew to the US after upheavals in their countries (Vietnam in 1975, Iran, Cambodia…).

• In the 1980s, pressure grows to curtail illegal immigration and tighten the border with Mexico. But the effort was viewed as a failure as the US did not regain control of the border.

The US did not regain control of the border.

With no control of the border, the CRIMINALS arriving here will immediately face dislike from almost every American, whose parents, grandparents, and great grandparents probably endured hardship, privation and separation from their entire family to get here LEGALLY. And this dislike is not limited to them, but to the system which DRAWS THEM HERE (Hello Corporate Republicans and Wall Street Democrats)

That is the reason for Trump.

Until Mexico CONTROLS ITS BORDERS, as well, blocking transit from other places to our border, and controls exit from their nation, Mexico as a nation, and the ILLEGALLY ENTERING CRIMINALS will face a growing, GROWING enmity form a very dangerous place…. THE MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, who WANT to see us as we always were, the place people come to LEGALLY.

HIGH WALLS, WIDE GATES for legals

Among all likely voters, 51% favor building a wall on the border; 37% disagree, and 12% are not sure. Eighty percent (80%) support the deportation of all illegal immigrants convicted of a felony; only 11% are opposed.

The reason these imbeciles refuse to distinguish between legal immigration and illegal invasions is because in Latin American countries, including Argentina and Mexico, they have this weird theory that "no human being can be illegal". Of course, logically that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever when you're talking about breaking the law. But making sense is not what you really expect from these idiots.

This is the reason that Ramos, after getting kicked out and being let back in, tells Donald Trump, "No human being is illegal" while whining about his points on illegal immigration.

Doesn't really change reality, they think it does.

I think illegal immigration should be punished just like any other crime is, except, maybe even a little more seriously. What is the logical conclusion when someone, knowingly, breaks the law of the country they're trying to get into because of selfish reasons? That they will go on to live like decent residents no matter what happens? Breaking the law is the same whether you break it in more or less serious ways. Once you know you can get away with it, psychologically you're more prone to think you'll get away with it again.

This madness needs to stop! Build the damn wall now and punish those who break your laws.

You're absolutely correct!
