All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.
Florida is a peninsula that is best characterized as a natural swampland. Ever hear the phrase "Wanna buy some swampland in Florida?" - commonly heard during the days Disney was quietly purchasing large tracts in the Orlando region. The entire entertainment complex (and much of Florida) is built on swampland which is drained through sequences of canals - much of which is surrounded by mangroves. Alligators are ubiquitous to Florida and it is common to read about some small pets disappearing. A couple of weeks ago, an enormous alligator was videotaped strolling across a golf course YouTube
EPA - I seriously doubt Disney stocked any of their canals, lagoons, lakes or puddles with live alligators. We own Disney property and spend some time there every couple of years. In the last two to three decades it is rare to see a fly or bee in the resorts - certainly never any live gators. As I mentioned before, canals drain the swamp and are interconnected. Gators are mobile and can move from familiar terrain into populated areas...and don't usually ring the doorbell to announce their arrival. Gators can climb trees too. Creepy creatures, they. Disney will likely re-visit their animal control protocol - albeit too late for this family.
If there is a standing body of water in Florida (or Louisiana, and other swampy areas of the south) there are alligators. They are common, prolific breeders and very powerful. They are a frequent site at golf course ponds, and lakes at any community. Floridians know to keep pets and small children away from the shorelines. www.myfwc.com is the site to learn more. Just search the living with wildlife section. Feeding alligators is illegal and fines start at $500.00. Stupid people feed them marshmallows. So that starts a problem too. Like the bears at Yellowstone, you need to be aware.
