Anti-Semitic Incidents at CUNY Are "Protected Speech"

Jewish students have been harassed and threatened for their pro-Israel views at CUNY campuses, but the university isn’t a hotbed of anti-Semitism and can do little about “protected” free speech, a report found Friday. 
Two lawyers hired by CUNY in March to investigate several disturbing incidents confirmed that Jewish students had good reason to be fearful at a November 2015 Hunter College rally where people shouted, “Death to Jews.” 
“Some actions, such as pulling a sign from a student’s hands, went beyond offensive speech and were tantamount to assaults,” the lawyers, Barbara Jones and Paul Shechtman of Bracewell LLP, concluded.
