Mistakes of 19 days, serious?

Frankly the most recent error President Trump has made surrounds his characterizations Super Bowl Sunday on Putin and killers.

Now if Trump was looking back to the 50’s and 60’s and 70’s (which Trump should remember) we DID try to kill ‘enemy’ leaders, and depose enemy leaders who WERE killed (Castro and Allende, anyone?). But it seemed as if the killed he was referring to were in Iraq. If he feels this way then his first and private order to Mr. Pompeo should have been to find anyone involved in the majority opinion on Iraq WMD in 2002 and reassign them to the Andorra and Lichtenstein desks in the new Faraday Cage wing, since those people actually helped cause the USA to become killers of hundreds of thousands. But I don’t think he even meant that.

Putin orders the deaths of his own people. The list is known. Putin invades his neighbors for reasons which are personally pleasing, by overt and covert means (Georgia, Crimea, and Ukraine). Putin blackmails every nation he can. The Baltics, Poland etc re perfect examples of this – all over THEIR need and NATO’s desire to emplace there weapons which kill no one, and harm nothing except missiles already launched against them and their people. Putin’s threats over potentially losing his ability to blackmail these states into cooperation have now resulted in NATO deploying forward edge armor and mechanized infantry.

This interview error is egregious but probably not consequential. Putin understands a different language.

Next, the fraudulent vote idea. There is no proof of a fraudulent voting issue as a systemic problem, but if there are millions of falsely and mistakenly registered voters, there IS a problem and Trump would have been far better served to say ‘I don’t need PROOF to conduct an investigation the purpose of which is to either find proof and offer a solution, or to demonstrate we have no issue’.

But the BIG ISSUE .. the critical issue and one of practical executive order and constitutional results – the temporary travel ban. President Trump has, IMO, clearly underestimated the degree, the quality and the depth of the outright HOSTILITY to ANYTHING he proposes.

In DAYS the opposition of the Democrats lurched into  3rd grade oppositional defiance. The press, far from ‘doing their job’ (as the Reuters DC chief said it), or demonstrating critical thought and objective recitation of facts, was IDEOLOGICALLY and PERSONALLY hostile to the choice of the people. Impeachment has been MORE THAN MENTIONED (in about 14 days) in CONGRESS. Reuters ****REPORTS**** the USA is XENOPHOBIC (the HEADLINE story on Drudge 530AM 2/7 via Yahoo written by Reuters).

Refugees in the United States fearing a worsening climate of xenophobia in the wake of a divisive U.S. presidential campaign…

That is a cute turn of a phrase over 91 claimants between Nov. 1 and Jan. 25 (ONE HUMAN A DAY leaving for Canada=xenophobia in Zanesville? SERIOUSLY?). But actual Americans who work, struggle and pay bills, eat dinners, watch some news, and then VOTE UNDERSTAND what the import is. Reporting would sound more like:

91 refugees to the USA on visas and with a desire to become permanent residents are afraid this will never come to fruition and have decided instead to try Canada.

Given this incredible hostility to the person we have chosen as president it is OBVIOUS now that the first move Trump should have made was EITHER to get McConnell and Ryan alone in a room and tell them he needed legislation in 5 days which he would sign which would be equivalent to his (constitutional) EO, or he should have appointed Gorsuch in the first hour after inauguration, and told McConnell the nation required Gorsuch’s approval before this EO reached SCOTUS, and he EXPECTED the Senate to move their asses or demonstrate before the nation they could not.

This latter issue is one of the practical nature of leadership and IMO is something Mr. Trump should have been able to anticipate. Should the lower court rule against him, and SCOTUS deadlock, this will be ALL ON THE PRESIDENT.
