Long ago, and oh so far away.... I fell in love for the first time listening to The Carpenters. Karen was gifted.

I think that I have every one of the Carpenters' albums.

I am still saddened by what took her life.

Me too. But I have to admit, it is more sad in retrospect, than it was then. At the time, I was a kid, and she didn't seem that amazing to me. She was just what's out there.

Now I know, no one else has come along like her. She was a one of a kind talent.

I think the only person to have come along anything like her would be Adele. But Adele is not Karen Carpenter. There are great things about Adele, but she's not at that level.

I always admired her unique ability to linger over a note leaving it resonating in your ear even after she'd moved on to the next line.

Anonymous,
Apt observation!

One other thing...

Watching this reminds me that Karen was a Drummer. And a pretty damn good one.

Yes, she was a very good drummer. I wonder if she told the drummer how to play, because the stuff he plays is very idiosyncratic for a studio musician. I am not sure, but I think that is Hal Blaine.
