274,000 Americans infected with Covid/330,000,000 Americans total = .08%

Not .08 or 8% but 8 one hundredths of one percent

274,000 x 1200 = 328,800,000

So less than one in every 1200 people have been sickened by Covid

8,420 Pennsylvanians infected with Covid/12,700,000 Pennsylvanians total = .07 %

Seven one hundredths of one percent

8,420 x 1,500 = 12,630,000

Less than one in every 1500 Pennsylvanians infected by Covid.

Note that these are infections, not deaths which though tragic is an exponentially smaller number and hopefully (if the politicians and bureaucracies ever get their heads out of their asses and their asses out of the way) getting smaller.

So we are to believe without question that because one in every 1,200 people will get sick from an infection that 97-99% of them will survive the other 329,723,000 Americans are to put their lives on hold and surrender their liberties and rights indefinitely. That we are to “stop the motor of the world” until told otherwise.

Allow millions of jobs to be lost and thousands of businesses to be destroyed. Life savings and retirements wiped out. Schools closed, graduations cancelled, post graduate dreams and opportunities gone forever. Not be able to visit loved ones distant or already shut in for one reason or another. Pastors to be arrested for holding services. Mayors and governors threatening arrest simply for sitting outside on your porch. Your kid can’t even go out and blow bubbles or play hopscotch in many places without fear of breaking “the law” (quick civics reminder none of these are actually laws they are edicts – which probably could not survive a serious constitutional challenge – being issued by POLITICIANS).

The psychological damage this will have on people forced to hole up too long.

The long term financial damage being wrought (if you thought the deficit was bad before wait until you see what this relief package – which would not have been needed if our leaders had been smart about this from the beginning – will do to future generations).

Because one in every 1,200 people will get sick from an infection that 97-99% of them will survive.

All stoked by media induced fear. Because panic and doom sells. “Covid? We can handle this” doesn’t.

Now before you get your hackles up no I am not downplaying the danger of Covid. It kills as do so many other diseases. But there has to be a better way to protect the most vulnerable among us without stripping the freedoms from all of us. Here's a novel idea. How about allowing the informed at high risk or otherwise individual decide if they want to venture out and allowing no penalty & granting proscribed assistance if they do not? What's more American and self reliant than that? Wear a mask if you think it will help. Although its efficacy is still debated it certainly won’t hurt other than fogging up your glasses and having you tripping over your own two feet. But hey my trifocals have me doing that without a mask.

But no one wanted to think about these things. Gov Cuomo a week ago said he would need 60,000 hospital beds by today. Thus far they have used 15,000 ish.

Be smart be safe and don’t panic. It is your duty to ask the questions the media fools will not. Never blindly trust the facts damned lies and statistics. ALWAYS question authority.

 Because if we don’t we are not just losing this country, we are willingly giving it away.
