Ted Cruz: "No Party can stay in power by lying to the American people"

I'm not as optimistic as Senator Cruz that the constituents will persuade the betraying senators to get the show on the road.

From where I'm sitting, I'm hearing the peasants beyond the moat say that they are done with career politicians. And Senator Cruz's words in the video below — particularly the words unfortunately and in time — don't cut it.  He has only an intellectual understanding of the struggles of the peasants beyond the moat (aka The Deplorables).

The full interview with Senator Cruz after the failed July 28, 2017 vote on the "skinny repeal":

Senator Cruz also stated:
“I’ll tell you this, if you stand up and campaign and say we’re going to repeal ObamaCare and you vote for ObamaCare, those are not consistent,” he added. “And the American people are entirely justified in saying, ‘Any politician who told me that and voted the other didn’t tell me the truth; they lied to me.’ ”

[...]

“You can’t have your central promise for seven years be we’ll repeal ObamaCare, and then you show up and vote not even to take up the bill to consider repealing ObamaCare."
Do the three senators who voted no on the "skinny repeal" — Senators Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), and John McCain (Ariz.) — realize what they have wrought? In their zeal to resist President Trump, they may well have dealt the death blow to the GOP.

Do they actually want to bring about single payer?

Cruz And Virginia's Convention Delegates

Cruz wins majority of delegates at Virginia convention

Never mind that Trump defeated Cruz two to one in the primary held here in my state.

One commenter at the above thread opined as follows:
Watch out GOP, you're digging your grave. Maybe you'll win the battle of keeping Trump out of the running but you're going to lose the war when it comes to re-establishing your power. This has sickened me to the point that I'll likely never vote GOP again. I'll throw my vote away on a 3rd party candidate with no chance rather than help keep the establishment GOP in power. Get ready for decades of Democrat control GOP. Cruz will never win as the disenfranchised won't give him the vote, they'll either stay home, vote independent, or write-in Trump. You'll lose the WH in 2016 and have no chance for years to come.

Cruz? You talking about the same "most grass roots conservative tea party candidate" who would sell us out to the illegals but seeing how popular Trump's stance was changed his tune? The conservative guy who supported expanding the H1B visa program until the political wind changed?
Ted Cruz = the GOP establishment's candidate.

Laura Ingraham Goes After Ted Cruz On Free Trade

Worth a listen:

Ted Cruz keeps stammering and citing Ronald Reagan, who left office in 1989. The world has changed since then!

Ted Cruz Is A Pod Person

I thought I knew who Ted Cruz was and what he stood for.  There was a time that I wanted him to the be 2016 GOP candidate.

But now?

Ted Cruz's Flip Flops On Issues

According to Ann Coulter, and she has links:
...-- Quadrupling the number of foreign guest workers to help ranchers and farmers get cheap labor: Cruz was for it, and now is against it.

-- Legalizing illegal aliens: Cruz was for it, and now is against it.

-- The Trans-Pacific Partnership deal: Cruz was for it, and now is against it.

-- Building a wall: Cruz was against it, and now is for it.

These are all positions Cruz has changed since being a senator -- most of them he's flipped on only in the last year. I'm supposed to believe that U.S. senators can sincerely change their minds about policies it was their job to know about, but a New York developer can never change his mind about pop-offs he made more than a decade ago....

Cruz includes Frank Gaffney on "security team."

Ted Cruz names his choice for advisors. Prominent among them is Frank Gaffney, who I assume needs no introduction here. Reuters immediately goes ballistic with the following headline: "Presidential candidate Cruz names Islam critics among advisers." Imagine that? Critics of Islam!

From Reuters:

"The list also included Frank Gaffney, a former official in the Reagan administration, and at least two other members of a think tank Gaffney founded, the Center for Security Policy. The center's reports, published on its website, argue that hundreds of thousands of American Muslims support Islamist violence in the United States and that there is a conspiracy to erode the U.S. legal system by elevating sharia, the Islamic legal code. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a civil rights organization based in Montgomery, Alabama, that monitors domestic hate groups and other extremists in the United States, has labeled the Center for Security Policy a "hate group" and Gaffney a "notorious Islamophobe."

Cruz just got my attention. Indeed, he has a lot going for him, including guts and intelligence. Let's see if he backs down. If not, he has my vote.

Cruz And Trump Teaming Up?

According to the The Hill:
Trump, Cruz to hold joint anti-Iran rally on Capitol Hill

Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) are jointly hosting a rally on Capitol Hill on Sept. 9 to protest the nuclear deal with Iran.

The event, being organized by Tea Party Patriots, the Center for Security Policy and the Zionist Organization of America, will be staged on the West Lawn of the Capitol, the groups said in a statement.

Cruz, the keynote speaker, invited Trump to speak, the statement said.

The joint event underscores the strengthening ties between the two Republicans....

The Tone Deaf GOP

I like Ted Cruz. I see him as a man of principle.

But why did he do something as foolish as this?
Ted Cruz apologizes for Joe Biden joke

Washington (CNN)— Republican presidential contender Sen. Ted Cruz apologized for an ill-timed joke about Vice President Joe Biden Wednesday night.

While speaking at a GOP dinner in Michigan on Wednesday, Cruz delivered an oft-told stump speech line poking fun at Biden, mentioning his name and then saying, "You know the nice thing? You don't need a punchline," according to the Detroit News.

"Honestly, it works," Cruz said, according to the news report. "The next party you're at, just walk up to someone and say, 'Vice President Joe Biden' and just close your mouth. They will crack up laughing."

While the line is often well-received on his campaign trail, this time it fell flat. Biden's son, Beau, passed away from brain cancer on Saturday.
The GOP really is The Party of Stupid so much of the time!
