BIN LADEN MAY BE DEAD - BUT PAKISTANIS LOVE HIM

There could be trouble. The Pakistani people are not going to be happy that Bin Laden was killed by Americans, on Pakistani soil, with the tacit approval of their own government.

From CNN 2007:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf -- a key U.S. ally -- is less popular in his own country than al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, according to a poll of Pakistanis conducted last month by an anti-terrorism organization.

A hardline Islamic activist burns an American flag during anti-U.S. protests in Karachi, Pakistan, last month.
Additionally, nearly three-fourths of poll respondents said they oppose U.S. military action against al Qaeda and the Taliban inside Pakistan, according to results from the poll conducted by the independent polling organization Terror Free Tomorrow.
"We have conducted 23 polls all over the Muslim world, and this is the most disturbing one we have conducted," said Ken Ballen, the group's head. "Pakistan is the one Muslim nation that has nuclear weapons, and the people who want to use them against us -- like the Taliban and al Qaeda -- are more popular there than our allies like Musharraf."
The poll was conducted for Terror Free Tomorrow by D3 Systems of Vienna, Virginia., and the Pakistan Institute for Public Opinion. Interviews were conducted August 18-29, face-to-face with 1,044 Pakistanis across 105 urban and rural sampling points in all four provinces across the nation. Households were randomly selected.
According to poll results, bin Laden has a 46 percent approval rating. Musharraf's support is 38 percent. U.S. President George W. Bush's approval: 9 percent.
Asked their opinion on the real purpose of the U.S.-led war on terror, 66 percent of poll respondents said they believe the United States is acting against Islam or has anti-Muslim motivation. Others refused to answer the question or said they did not know.

MR BUTTING IN:

Confirmed Bin Laden was killed in Abadabad, Northwest Frontier, halfway between Islamabad and Peshawar.

This is described as an important military town.

If so, and if the ISI really meant to tell us nif they had info on Bin Laden, why the fuck have they kept it hidden? Of course that assumes you believe they would tell us.

And if they didn't know he was there, why the hell didn't they???
Pastorius back in: Actually, Muslims tend to turn on the "Weak Horse". Given that he is dead, I'd say Osama is a pretty "Weak Horse" at the moment.

Maybe the Pakistanis will turn on him in his death.

Midnight Rider notes, Osama was running for his life, hiding in a rich man's compound, in order to save his ass.

He is no Shaheed. No Martyr.

No Virgins for him. I guess he will have to sate himself by fucking Helen Thomas 72 times.

From Ace of Spades:
"Shot in the head"US team went in, there was a firefight and Bin Laden was killed. No Americans were hurt.
Oh FUCK YES!

CBS reports OBL was "shot in the head." Whoever did it is the new Most Interesting Man in the World.

BEYOND AWESOME: CNN says it wasn't a drone but "a human operation". Up close and personal motherfucker.
CNN says he was killed "in a mansion outside of Islamabad, Pakistan".
The hell with those bastards in Pakistan.
If Obama gave an okay to an action (drone/direct), I have to give him props for that. That's ballsy. Islamabad ain't the N.W. Frontier.
Reports are that fans at the Mets-Phillies game chanted USA! USA! as news spread.

UPDATES - FOREIGN POLICY RELATED
Contempoaneous I.N.S. memo :Barack Hussein Obama senior didn't live with his 'wife' or his 'son'

From the Astute Bloggers:

Wanna know what I think?  I’m thinking that a mutually beneficial deal was struck between Stanley Ann’s parents (her father, principally) and Obama Sr. — a quid pro quo, if you will.  He gave her his name, she gave him his green card. Voila! Fait accompli! He went his way, she went hers.

Would Obama abandon Saudi Arabia to the 'winds of change'?

Thanks to Will from The Other News:

(WSJ)  It is provocative, but not entirely inaccurate, to suggest that U.S. foreign policy these past few months has been sufficiently erratic to make America's allies reconsider the degree to which we can be trusted—and our adversaries re-evaluate the degree to which we must be feared. The canary in the coal mine on such matters is Israel. None of America's allies is more sensitive to even the most subtle changes in the international environment, or more conscious of the slightest hint of diminished support from Washington.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been so concerned that a member of his fractious coalition might give vent to some damaging public observation on this issue that he has imposed a strict "nobody talks on the subject but me" rule. That the gag has been even partially effective, given the wide-open nature of the Israeli political process, is astonishing. It is also a measure of how worried the Israelis are.
The Israeli government is so concerned that America's adversaries may miscalculate U.S. intentions that it is privately urging Washington to make it clear that the U.S. would intervene in Saudi Arabia should the survival of that government be threatened. That is, after all, what President George H.W. Bush did more than 20 years ago when Saddam Hussein ordered Iraqi forces into Kuwait and moved forces in the direction of Saudi Arabia. "This," President Bush said on more than one occasion, "will not stand." And it didn't.
Just as enemies such as Iran need to be cautioned, America's traditional allies need to be reassured. That's why Israeli officials are recommending a Marshall Plan for Egypt. The overthrow of Hosni Mubarak may have been no loss in the annals of democracy, but under Mr. Mubarak Egypt was a pillar of stability and a reliable if not always warm partner for Israel.
Egypt's political future at this time is uncertain enough; the Israelis believe it is essential to prevent its economic collapse. The U.S. has poured billions of dollars into Egypt since Anwar Sadat made peace with Israel, and senior Israeli officials believe the economic spigot should remain wide open.
Little, if anything, that has happened during the past few months has improved Israel's standing in the region. One of the most telling blows to Israel's security has gone all but unnoticed in the swirl of uprisings. For years, the most stable relationship that Israel enjoyed with any Muslim nation was with Turkey. Even under the leadership of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has specialized in publicly baiting the Israelis, the relationship between the two countries' intelligence agencies remained strictly professional. "That," a high-ranking Israeli official told me, "is no longer the case."
The outlook from Jerusalem these days is not encouraging. Iranian influence is growing throughout the Persian Gulf and beyond. Egypt's commitment to its peace treaty with Israel is uncertain. Syria could explode into total chaos at any moment. Jordan's stability is in question. Pakistan, a Muslim country with more than a 100 nuclear warheads, is confronting an uncertain future—made all the more unpredictable by the commencement of a U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan this summer.
Whether any U.S. troops will remain in Iraq after the end of this year remains an open question. America is war-weary and facing a crushing deficit. The only glimmer of good news for the Israelis may be that, when it comes to reliable allies in the region, Washington's list also keeps getting shorter.

Israel halts tax transfers to Fatah

It's already been reported a few days ago about how Fatah and Hamas have formed a pact. Following this, the Israeli government has wisely brought money transfers to them to a halt:
Israel has suspended the transfer of tax revenue to the Palestinian Authority in response to its alliance with Hamas, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Sunday.

Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz has apparently cancelled the latest routine handover of some NIS 300 million (approx. $88 million) in customs funds and other levies collected on behalf of the Palestinians, as stipulated in the Oslo Accords.

Israel said last week that it would impose sanctions in response to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' surprise announcement of a unity deal with Hamas.

Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad said that Israel's decision will not impede the unity deal between the Palestinian factions.
They didn't deserve the money anyway; it was socialism from the start. The money should be reserved for Israel's own security and development, not for terrorists.

French court is backing another al-Dura sham

In this case, it's a libel suit that was filed by the father of the boy himself against the doctor who testified the real reasons behind injuries he'd sustained:
A French court has backed a libel suit against an Israeli doctor by the father of Mohammed al-Dura, whose murder by Gaza terrorists was falsely blamed on the IDF.

The al-Dura murder, for which the IDF originally apologized, was filmed by French journalists, whose claim the boy was killed by IDF fire later was disproven.

The father, Jamal al-Dura, said he was injured while trying to protect his child, but Israeli Dr. Yehuda David told a French newspaper that he had operated on Jamal in 1994 after a surgical operation in Gaza failed. He revealed that the injuries that were claimed to be caused by IDF fire actually were due to an injury which left scars as a result of the surgery.

Jamal al-Dura sued the doctor for slander, and the court approved the suit on Friday, ordering Dr. David to pay him NIS 30,000 (nearly $9,000). Dr. David said he will appeal the decision in favor of the suit, which he called “a terrible scam.”

He told reporters, “They are twisting the truth…This is disgusting," and he warned that the decision could spur further terrorist attacks and an escalation in anti-Israel hate from Europe.

The Israeli government has funded Dr. David’s defense and will continue to help him in his appeal, two ministers said after the conviction. Arab MK Ahmed Tibi demanded that the doctor be prosecuted for violating doctor-patient confidentiality by publishing the information on the operation.
What's really disgusting is how the court continues to uphold more libels against Israeli reps, and favors the monsters here. Another disgusting thing is Tibi rearing his ugly head. The father should be throughly ashamed of himself for exploiting his offspring for blood libels.

The importance of defending ourselves

Benjamin Netanyahu has given his speech for Holocaust Memorial Day, and said the following:
The six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust were remembered on Sunday in ceremonies held across the nation at sundown, the eve of Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day. [...]

In his speech, Netanyahu asked the nation to walk away with three important lessons from the Holocaust.

The first lesson, he said, is "If someone threatens to destroy us, we should not ignore it or diminish it."

He asked, "Has the world understood this? I doubt it. We cannot just think that the threats of Holocaust are over. We have new threatening forces today. They call for our destruction."

"Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas - they call for the destruction of the Jewish people," the prime minister said. "All of those who said they have learned the lessons of the Holocaust, they need to condemn, in a clear way, those who call for the destruction of the Jewish state. The world has not done this. These threats against us, we cannot sweep them aside."

Netanyahu said the second lesson was "the duty to reveal the face of hatred against our nation."

Such hatred, he said, grew, conquered, and impacted opinion makers and leaders in Europe before the Holocaust.

"Now this hatred is emerging again in Europe against the Jewish state," Netanyahu emphasized.

Netanyahu concluded his speech with a last lesson: "We can't leave our fate in the hands of others."

He said, "If we don't defend ourselves, the world won't stand by our side. It is appropriate to declare here, today, and now to all of our enemies that they should know one thing: When the people of Israel and the army of Israel say to the world 'no more', we mean every word."
And this is why self-reliance is crucial to our survival.

Also worthy of note: aging Holocaust survivors give relics to Yad Vashem as part of preserving their memory for future generations.

Bolton: Obama's Incompetence May Force Me to Run
Saturday, 30 Apr 2011 05:21 PM
By Henry J. Reske and Kathleen Walter

Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton decries President Barack Obama's foreign policy as a failure and says he's considering seeking the GOP nomination for president in part to give that and national security the top priority they deserve.

Obama's flawed policies are "not based in reality," the senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute said in an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV at the annual meeting of the National Rifle Association in Pittsburgh. Up to 70,000 people are expected to attend the meeting this weekend.

"It's based on the idea that somehow because of the Bush administration's actions in Iraq and in the global war on terrorism that the United States is held in low esteem and, in effect, if we give up on the global war on terrorism and withdraw from Iraq, that will be turned around. In fact, exactly the opposite has happened. "

The withdrawal from Iraq reduces U.S. influence in the Muslim world, and Obama administration policies encourage U.S. adversaries to challenge America, Bolton said.

"I think it's very important that national security issues have a much higher saliency in our national debate than we've had over the past two years," he said. "I don't think President Obama really gives foreign policy and security issues the kind of priority he should even though challenges to the United States are rising around the world."

Using that view as a segue to the fact that Bolton is considering seeking the GOP nod, he said, "So I think it's critical these issues be discussed at a national level during a presidential contest - and certainly running is one way to get that done."

On other issues, Bolton said:

  • The United States has a strategic interest in removing Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi from power, but the administration's policy is doomed to failure.
  • Iran is very close to achieving a nuclear weapons capability, and once it does, "the balance of power in the Mideast changes forever."
  • The United States has come close to betraying Israel under the Obama administration. "I'd be very worried if I were an Israeli," Bolton said.
  • The United Nations has "fundamental problems" and the U.S. influence is not nearly what it should be at the U.N.
  • The Obama administration "is fundamentally anti-Second Amendment," and the president is just waiting to get a second term to go after gun rights.
Fox:

Qaddafi Escapes NATO Missile Strike That Kills His Son, Grandchildren

TRIPOLI, Libya -- Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi escaped a NATO missile strike in Tripoli that killed one of his sons and three young grandchildren, a government spokesman said early Sunday. Hours later, Qaddafi's forces shelled a besieged rebel port in a sign that the airstrike had not forced a change in regime tactics.

Though the deaths could not be independently verified, NATO's attack on a Qaddafi family compound in a residential area of Tripoli late Saturday signaled escalating pressure on the Libyan leader who has tried to crush an armed rebellion that erupted in mid-February.

The alliance acknowledged that it had struck a "command and control building," but insisted all its targets are military in nature and linked to Qaddafi's systematic attacks on the population.

Libyan officials denounced the attack as a crime and violation of international law. However, British Prime Minister David Cameron, without confirming fatalities, told the British Broadcasting Corp. that the strike was in line with a U.N. mandate to prevent "a loss of civilian life by targeting Qaddafi's war-making machine."

The attack struck the house of one of Qaddafi's younger sons, Seif al-Arab, when the Libyan leader and his wife were inside, said Libyan government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim. Seif al-Arab, 29, and three of Qaddafi's grandchildren, all younger than 12, were killed, said Ibrahim.

Journalists taken to the walled complex of one-story buildings saw heavy bomb damage. The blast had torn down the ceiling of one building. Dust and smoke rose from the rubble, which included household items such as smashed toilet bowls, bathroom sinks and furniture among the broken walls and demolished floors. The mirror of a dressing table remained intact in the middle of a bedroom although the walls around it were demolished.

The bombing came hours after Qaddafi called for a cease-fire and negotiations in what rebels called a publicity stunt.

When news of the deadly strike spread, rebels honked horns and chanted "Allahu Akbar" or "God is great" while speeding through the western city of Misrata, which Qaddafi's forces have besieged and subjected to random shelling for two months, killing hundreds. Fireworks were set off in front of the central Hikma hospital, causing a brief panic that the light would draw fire from Qaddafi's forces.

On Sunday morning, Qaddafi's troops shelled Misrata's port as a Maltese aid ship, the Mae Yemanja, unloaded food and medical supplies, said Ahmed al-Misalati, a truck driver helping move the cargo.

"We were still working this morning when they started firing rockets," said al-Misalati. "Some fell in the ocean, some on the pavement, some in the warehouses, and in the water in front of the boat."

The driver said about a dozen rockets fired over 10 minutes struck three warehouses and a guard post. The boat quickly embarked back to sea, he said.

Last week, regime loyalists attempted to mine Misrata's harbor to close the besieged city's only link to the world.
