Europe Seeks A New "Non-Emotive Lexicon"

The smelly old cat (you know, the one who, really, should have died long ago) sprang to her knees this past week, and began heaving and retching. With eyes popping, and ears straight back, the aged girl really gave quite a performance.

In the end, a pathetic, oily little hairball slithered from her mouth:

European governments should shun the phrase "Islamic terrorism" in favour of "terrorists who abusively invoke Islam", say guidelines from EU officials.

Backed by diplomats and civil servants from the 25 EU members, the officials are drafting a "non-emotive lexicon for discussing radicalisation" to be submitted to Tony Blair and other leaders in June.

The Brussels officials hope the new lexicon, which would not be legally binding, would be adopted by governments and other EU institutions, such as the European Commission and European Parliament.

An EU official said: "The basic idea behind it is to avoid the use of improper words that would cause frustration among Muslims and increase the risk of radicalisation."

It might be time to put the poor thing to sleep.

Lexicon? Isn't that a luxury car?

... but I do get that basic idea, oh yeah, AVOID the use of improper ( read REAL ) words to describe muslim fanatics (read -M*&^%&*F(&&^% ) so as to not hurt their feelings and set off more readicalisation, nope can't be having that! Perhaps France's is running low on cars this month.
Wonder if some unsuspecting european country's flags are being ordered in mass, somewhere?

Lexicon = appeasement in their speak I guess, must not don't know my eurowenie language so well.

Leap Frog,
You are doing pretty damned good, if you ask me.

Here's a little French language trivia for a Thursday afternoon:

Did you know that the French have over 7,000 words meaning surrender?

It's true.

Poor little kitty. I'm a cat wimp.

But anyway, as we have all noticed with some frustration, we ALREADY avoid "offending" the poor Muslims; the MSM won't publish pictures or sounds of horrific acts, thus "protecting" us (you know, the children) from vast quantities of factual material. They don't want us to "get upset," after all.

"Get upset" is a euphemism for "having an appropriate response" because we have ALL the facts, be they verbal, visual, or auditory.

Good grief, if we were allowed to have ALL the facts, we might even (gasp!) name the enemy!

Cubed,
I love cats too, but you gotta admit, there is something supremely comical (not to mention grotesque) in watching a cat hock up a furball.

Did you ever see the second Shrek movie? There's a great furball scene in there.

Anyway, you're absolutely correct about the "appropriate response" thing.

A survey in Jordan a year back, found that 99% of Jordanians have a moderate to strong dislike of Jews. What is the appropriate response to that?

The answer is, in my opinion, to judge that Jordanian society is extremely sick, ignorant, and given the historical record of anti-Semitism, dangerous.

And yet, we are supposed to believe Jordanian society has something to add to the world. That they ought to be treated as equals on the world stage.

No, no, no, I don't think so.

It's time for them to return to nursery school, and start all over again.

All I can say is that I feel for the poor old kitten.

As for the Mot Nouveau "terrorists who abusively invoke Islam"!
Jesus! It's too long, let's call them the TWAII,
short for Terrorists Who Adore Intolerant Islam.
