"The Belgian government needs to understand that a number of people here in the United States are now carefully watching the outcome of this case.
Should government harassment of the Brussels Journal continue, should Paul Belien and/or any of his collaborators be punished in any way by the government of Belgium for the public expression of their opinions, and above all, should the Brussels Journal be shut down, the government of Belgium should know that this issue will not simply disappear.
On the contrary, it will become a great deal more prominent, and will surely affect the attitudes of the American people toward the government of Belgium and the people of Europe."

Thanks. Nice to keep your eyes open, This case is completely silenced in Belgium press. All newspapers here are government sponsored. I'm not right, not left, only anti-totalitarian. So I value some of the vieuws of the BJ, just like I value some of the vieuws of the left. It find, it would be a disaster for freedom of expression in Belgium would BJ disappear.I am Flemish, living in Wallonia.
It will be interesting to see if countries like Belgium will eventually try to convince a country like the United States (which is where I am from) to shut down an international blog like this one.
Eventually, governments like that of Belgium are going to fall by the hands of the people, and it isn't going to be pretty.
YOu've bene offline since friday till this afternoon. I don't know if my government was involved or if it was due to other problems.
In october there are municipial elections here, let's see if they gonna show change.
