New Yorker Festival Town Hall: Islam and The West

Last night was a tough one folks. The New Yorker "Festival" held their Town Hall Meeting on Islam and the West (wrong, right off the bat, it should have been the Islam vs the West.)

This of course was the enlightened left's attempt at dialogue, with almost all West bashing Muslims ("these people were not chosen for who they are but for their ideas" ahhhhhh yes)

The New Yorker Town Hall Meeting on Islam and the West
On the panel were Omar Ahmad-chairman of the board of the Council on American-Islamic (CAIR) Ayaan Hirsi Ali author The Caged Virgin: An Emancipation Proclamation for Women and Islam, Mahmood Mamdani, author Good Muslim, Bad Muslim, Azar Nafisi ( deranged,btw)- author Reading Lolita in Teheran, Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na’im (from Sudan) is a Charles Howard Candler Professor of Law ,and Lawrence Wright author of the masterpiece The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11.and New Yorker staff writer George Packer moderated.

They opened with the importance of separating Islam and Muslims. This is the issue. uh, yeah ok.
Then spent 15 minutes attacking the name of the event "Islam and the West."

Let me say, this was pathetic.............. with the exception of Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Lawrence Wright, it was a propaganda tool for the Jihad and an Islamic fest of America bashing, colonialism bashing and lest we not forget IMPERIALISM bashing. ugh.

One had to suspend their disbelief to listen to Azar Nafisi speak about the women demonstrating in Iran for women's rights but neglecting to mention that they got their ass kicked for it. What passes for experts in these days of the gathering storm is frightening.

And of course it wouldn't be Islamic if they didn't blame the jooooooooos. Which they did. And of course CAIR said all would be resolved if the poor Palestinians were free.

During the Q&A, muslim women would ask Hirsi Ali insulting questions dripping with contempt, accusing Hirsi Ali of contributing to the bigotry. There is something so stoic and free about Hirsi Ali that Muslim women want to rip her eyes out.

These were the most interesting moments. Hirsi Ali spoke up against the lies along with Wright. And, I might add, they were given the least amount of time. CAIR, of course, spoke at great length but not nearly as long as Abdullahi railing against US intervention in Darfur. It's a job for the African Union, conveniently omitting that this genocide, all these rapes and murders took place with the AU troops on the scene. "They need more money!"

I hate to devote too much ink to this self serving, self loathing, exercise in aiding and abetting CAIR and Islamists but we need to know the discourse and how Islam is being fed to a gullible, curious public.

The New Yorker ought to be ashamed of itself. I was once an avid reader of that book, looked forward to every issue. But the break for me came when Susan Sontag wrote the most disgusting America hating piece right after 9/11, that was it. I never looked at it again and last night validated every opinion I had.

Listening to erudite, well spoken Muslims shake their finger at intervention in Darfur and deny the genocide is Islamic in nature - is beyond cvil discourse. It's accessory to murder. Simon Deng, ex slave from Sudan, here

I loaded the audio but will warn you, it's a waste of time. This attempt at "dialogue" speaks to what Nidra and I discussed here, the different approaches Islam takes to infiltrate and dominate each country. Of course, living in France, Nidra knows well the violent Punk Jihad that is holding the French hostage. In Brussels, Denmark, England, it is a peculiar thuggery - a brutal random violence- while using freedom of speech to silence freedom of speech.

Here in America, the Muslim Brotherhood project approaches the takeover from within America's institutions, social organizations, media, government organizations, academia, CAIR, MPAC are constantly depicting Muslims as victims. Victims of bigotry, victims of a terrorist stereotype, fabricating "hate crimes" - "hey, we're just regular guys." Hardly.

Part 2 is the Q&A, more interesting, but the audio is poor. Sorry.

The most telling moment of the night was when one of the audience members asked why the Muslim street was silent on the genocide in the Arab counry of Sudan. Dead silence. Long. Dead. silence. And then some bullshit comeback about it not being an Islamic problem ...............

The New Yorker got it so wrong. And it was a pity because it attracted a full house of white, erudite, information seekers (although clearly by the applause many came with their own agenda.) Another wasted opportunity.

Yes, thanks for the report and saving us the time and pain. It's clear from the start that it was stacked against any genuine examination of the Islamic problem. The Islamists clearly believe they are setting the agenda; and they do as long as dhimmi-whipped infidels allow it.
